this story imagines that iro and declan are both 16, iro;
baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more. Iro sang the song in his head whilst
rearranging his room. He pulled off a poster to see a note fall.
I don't remember putting this here. What the hell is this? He took the note and
opened it. It was a diary entry he had written when he was younger.
Dear Diary,
Today i had my furst first crush. It was with a boy named Declan.
He's in my class and he's very cute. I want to marry him when we are older.
The only thing is my friend told me it's not normal to for boys to like boys. Boys
are supposed to like girls.
I don't think thats right. I definitely like girls but I think boys are always so much
cuter. I'd rather date a boy but I'd still date a girl? I thought this was normal? My
mom and dad told me it was normal so why does she think different? Did her
parents tell her it was bad? I think I should go ask my mom.
Okay so I asked my mom and she told me some people think differently. Some
people think boys can't like boys and girls can't like girls, but that's not what we
think. We think it's okay and she and dad totally support me, so thats all that
matters. No matter what she thinks. Maybe I shouldn't be friends with her if she
won't support me no matter what?Iro laughed.
Good thing I did distance myself from her. I can't imagine the pain she would've
put me through. He folded it back up and set in his box of memories.
It's
something I'd want to remember.declan (first person);
crazy little thing called love
I sang along quietly, starring at his ceiling. It hurt him to think of Iro, I just
wished he would love me back.
According to his one friend, Iro had a crush on me from kindergarten until grade
nine, then finally got over me.
Now, I'm in between grade 10 and 11 and have a massive crush on Iro.
My luck. He has a crush on me and he moves on then I have a crush on him. I
sighed. This was driving me insane.
I suddenly shot upright.
I'm going to text him. I remembered I had his number. I leaped to grab my
phone and nearly hit my head on the side of my desk. I jumped backwards and
landed on my back. I held my phone above my face and opened my conversation with
Iro. I looked at the last texts.

That was two weeks ago, before school ended.

He lives down the street from me and I've never seen him? weird
i: its not like the main road tho its like a sub road that was never renamed lol
i: you should find it
i: what are you dropping off?
I decided not to reply, keep him in suspense. I ran downstairs and jumped on my
bike. I biked non-stop until I got to the florist.
I locked my bike to the bike stand and walked in.
"Declan! Back again? Decide which ones you want?" The owner smiled at me. I
nodded.
"I think so. I hope he'll like them," I fingered at the soft petals of the rose. The
owner smiled.
"I'm sure he will Declan. You're a really sweet boy," I smiled, grabbing two roses.
I didn't have enough money on me for any more.
"Alrighty, three roses," He began typing it in to the cash register.
"No sir, two."
"One's on the house."
I couldn't help but smile again, "Thank you so much sir."
He handed me my change back and I turned to hurry back, but the owner's voice
stopped me.
"Declan! Your phone!" He handed it to me. It was buzzing like mad.
i: declan? did you die? what are you delivering
i: declan?? please answer i am concerned now

i: oh I see you aren't telling me thanks a lot
I laughed. I waved good-bye to the owner and ran out. I unlocked my bike and
checked my phone before leaving
i: okay not funny anymore what are you dropping off? If its that assignment I
don't need it schools over.
i: hey hey hey deccy

i: man this seems like a prank
d: not a prank i'm on my way i'll be like, five minutes tops
i: ehh fine I'm waiting
d: good
I put my phone in my pocket and began biking. I pedaled as fast as I could.
When I finally reached his house I saw his face staring down in the window. I smiled.
I had the roses in my backpack and he couldn't see them. I looked down at my phone
i: you take so long why
i: man i feel myself aging here
i: -dies of old age-
i: -becomes a skeleton-
d: you aren't a skeleton I can see you
His face shot up and he smiled. He opened the door and I ran up.
"Okay what's the deal here?" He crossed his arms, "Whats this delivery?"
I grinned.
"Close your eyes."
"I'm not five-"
"Just do it!"
He sighed and closed his eyes. I watched him to make sure he didn't peek. I pulled the
roses out and held them in my hand. I grabbed his hand and pulled it off his eye and held
it. He dropped the other hand silently. He looked up from the roses into my eyes. We
held that look for a few seconds and I saw tears form in his eyes. He pulled me into a
hug and I heard him start to cry.
"I thought I was over you. I thought I had moved on. I never did," He said between sobs. I
started to cry too.
"I'm so sorry I didn't see your feelings for so long," I hugged him tighter. I felt his arms get
tighter too.
"That's okay. I was good at hiding them. Did you know I liked you?" He pulled away and
wiped his eyes with his sleeve. I did the same.
"No, I was really worried about doing this."
"I'm glad you did," He pulled me back into a hug. I felt so safe in his arms.
-two months later-
iro (first person);
And you can tell everybody this is your song
I opened up my box of memories and pulled out the note and threw it at Deccy
"This is the diary entry I talked about," I smiled as he opened it. I closed my box and sat
beside him on my bed.
"So you've never been good at English?" He laughed.
"I was in kindergarten!"
"Really? This is actually pretty good for a five year old," He looked up, "I guess that your
brain developed too fast and then stopped."
I punched his arm and started to laugh. I hid my face in my hands and leaned into his
chest. He wrapped his arm around me and held me tighter.
"Who told you that boys couldn't like boys?"
"Samantha."
"Huh. She always did seem against it."
"I'm not friends with her, I haven't since then."
"I can see why," We both went quiet. I looked up at him and tears were forming in his eyes.
"I hate that people can be so close-minded," He whispered. I just nodded and set my face
in the dip between his neck and his shoulder. I had to turn myself so i was sitting side-ways
but that was fine. I felt so much calmer not being able to see. I heard him set down the
note then put his other arm around me. We just sat there for a while in silence. This was
okay, I felt so much better. I brought my head up and saw that he had been looking at me.
I smiled and landed a quick kiss on his lips.
"Thank you," I set my forehead on his chin. I really didn't really want to pull away. This was
so perfect.
"Deccy," I looked up at him.
"Yeah Joshy?" I shook my head a little bit and laughed. I hated it when people called me by
some variant of my first name, but it was always cute when he did it.
"Thank you for coming to my house and bringing me roses."
"Thank you for never getting over me."
I started to really laugh again, "Thanks. It was pretty easy."
I had to pull away from him because I was hysterical. I'm not sure why I was, but I fell
backwards on my bed.
"What in the world is so funny? Is it something on my face?" He began gesturing at his face,
which only made me laugh harder.
"Listen, I'm going to give you a minute so calm down," He stood up and walked out of the
room. I overheard him conversing with my mother.
"Hey Declan? Everything okay?"
"Your son is dying."
"What?"
"Of laughter."
My mom came in to see me full on crying and laughing at the same time.
"I have never seen him laugh this hard since I called a Stellar's Jay a Blue Jay!"
Remembering that instance, I began to laugh even harder.
"T-That was s-so fun-nny," I made out between breaths. My mom shook her head.
"You are a weird child. Can't believe you're related to me. You're nuts like your grandmother!"
She crossed her arms and shook her head. My grandmother wasn't bad crazy, she was good
crazy by the way.
I calmed down a bit, "At least I'm not hurdling chairs or doing backflips of desks."
"That was the past, but I am glad you didn't pick up on that."
-woops going to finish later-
