Mari is typically good at friendly interactions and creative thought. She is a good thinker and problem solver, especially in tight situations. She lives on the spot, even though she virtually has no planning skills, her on-the-spot impulsive behavior often leads to blind luck and good decision. She loves making up stories and ideas for everyone, and treats every day as a new opportunity to do something great. Mariya is good at commanding others what to do very suddenly and makes a strong leader when one is needed. Otherwise, this contrasts with her more gentle nature. Mariya has a strong sense of balanced humor that often contrasts with her kind personality as it is rather dark and often quite rude.

Other things include:
Creating harmony
Eating far more than you would think possible for such a small thing
Sprinting and moving quickly
Warming up to even the coldest individuals
Finding the good in all situations
Blind luck
Impulsive behavior
Being able to tell the truth even when it's hard

Bad at wrote:*´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`* тнιngѕ ѕнe ιѕ вad aт: *´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`*

Mariya seriously dislikes working in groups. Even though she adores people, she also thrives in her own power over situations. Mariya also has a difficult time handing rude or unpleasant comments or insults, and takes them very personally. She is quite sensitive in this aspect as she is always under attack for things she cannot choose. Mariya sometimes cannot properly express what she would like, and ends up doing things she doesn't want to do, just because she cannot say no. She also loves symmetry and perfection in objects and will check constantly, often annoying those around her. She does love her own eyes though, they're one of the only exceptions.

Other things include:
Expressing distaste
Overcoming rejection
Being calm
Planning ahead
Depicting whether or not somebody is wanting alone time
Accidentally being rude
Attention span
Relying on others

Mental/Psychological Notes wrote:*´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`* мenтal/pѕycнologιcal noтeѕ: *´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`*

Mariya has a few minor mental disorders such as mild anxiety and ADHD. She has the attention span of a goldfish and the memory of a fly. Mariya also gets stressed very quickly because of the chaos in her life in which she cannot predict. It always causes worry that something wouldn't go right in a situation. She also has an obsession with appearance and making sure everything she does is perfect. She gets mild anxiety that things she makes aren't perfect and constantly and repetitively checks things to make sure they're symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing.

Definition of Anxiety Disorder wrote:"Feelings of uneasiness, worry and fear. While anxiety occurs for everyone sometimes, a person with an anxiety disorder feels an inappropriate amount of anxiety more often than is reasonable."

Definition of ADHD wrote:"ADHD is a chronic condition marked by persistent inattention, hyperactivity, and sometimes impulsivity."

Definition of Obsessive Conpulsive Disorder wrote:Excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions).

Even though these things bother her, it doesn't stop her from living a generally pretty normal life. She can also discard these behaviors in times of great danger, or if she realizes that they are harming her friends.

Song lyrics that describe her include:
Driven by You--Queen wrote:Ahh, you know we're never gonna know who's dreaming
But we're working night and day to make the dream come true
Yeah everything I do is driven by you
Everything we do, everything we do, everything we do
Some celestial dragons, such as Mariya spend their entire lives protecting their human(s).

Room for Happiness-Skylar Grey wrote:Don’t be fooled by your emptiness,
There’s so much more room for happiness

This is something she likes to tell Hazel and she truely believes it. "Don't give up"

Feel my Love--Adele wrote:When the rain

I could offer you
A warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows
And the stars appear
And there is no one there
To dry your tears
I could hold you
For a million years
To make you feel my love
Mariya truely loves Hazel and wishes more than anything to make her happy and feel loved.

Quotes that describe her include:
By an Unknown Person wrote:Having a rough morning? Place your hand on your heart. Feel that? It's called purpose. You're alive for a reason. Don't give up.
When Hazel needs her the most, her angel comes. Mariya wants her to stay alive and remain feeling hopeful.

By an Unknown Person wrote:A hero isn't determined by the extent of someone's strength. It is determined by the extent of their heart.
Mariya is kind and a hero to many people, including Hazel, and later, many other humans who need her the most. She loves them all unconditionally and saves their broken lives.

By an Unknown Person wrote:She was like an angel. She saved them from the fire of their own minds and raised them into hearts of gold
Mariya is truely an angel. She is so loving and determined to make a difference in the world.

Personality wrote:*´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`* perѕonalιтy: *´¯`*.¸¸.*´¯`*

Mariya is a very warm, compassionate Celestial Dragon. She loves attention and is good at reassuring and helping others. She is great at making even the coldest hearts warm up to her, and acting calm and composed in the scariest of situations even if she personally is having a complete freak out. She acts a lot different than she feels, and has a difficult time saying no to people.
Mariya is very loyal no matter what. She puts her full trust in her friends, and goes to the extent of the earth to keep them safe. Even though her mental disorders may get in the way of many friendships, she is willing to put down her own body and mind's safety to help them out. She cares for everybody and believes in extreme equality.
Mariya also your typical hot mess. Being extremely impulsive, that is. She thinks in the moment, and will never plan ahead, which annoys her best friend Nick a lot, as he is more of a planner. She discards the plans when something better comes along. She also is an exceedingly good liar, as she makes up believeable stories in a heartbeat either to make somebody feel good, or keep out of danger or trouble. She is almost always honest, though.

Part 1-Rift-

Mariya was born a long time ago in a magical place many people call The Village of Stars. She lived far above Earth in the heavens, where all things were perfect, and all things were showered in brilliance. It was the job of such divine creations to watch over the less fortunate souls that walked the earth. In fact, one could say Mariya was even a guardian angel.

It was the celestial dragon's job to watch over the life of a human; a small, short, and dejected person who called herself Hazel. CD law forbade a guardian to help the creatures that they were to protect in person. Instead, they were expected to give them signs and words of wisdom without exposing themselves. This was fine by Mariya, and she often found herself wistfully communicating with her beloved human in these ways. Hazel was very special to her, and Mariya often acted as if she were her own child. She wanted more than anything for Hazel to be happy, and it broke her heart to see her love in such a deep, depressing pain. Hazel seemed to be a wonderer, a person who never belonged anywhere. She would go about her day by herself, and return home almost completely unnoticed. Mariya knew her job was to make her fit in. Anywhere she ended up didn't matter to her as long as her guarded one would be content there.

Hazel was intelligent for her age. This, the dragon knew for sure. She had seen the detailed equations that the young girl solved alone in her room; she just wished her human would expose her talents to the world. But ever since the day when Hazel had been assigned to Mariya, the girl had grown too cold to want to try and succeed in life. Her protection had been given to Mariya when Hazel was only twelve years old. She didn't know what had sparked the sudden drop in her social and mental health, but it had not gotten any better during the last five and a half years. Part of her goal was to figure this out. All guardians were required to study the psychology of a mortal's brain. Mariya knew that one day she would unlock the secret to Hazel's distress; one day she would figure this poor girl out.

It was a day in the cold light of January when Mariya was on a short break; she had been focusing on her own life away from her human, when a cold ping awoke in her chest. Hazel seemed to be doing alright, so Mariya had stepped away to focus more on her studies. But now cold shivers sparkled through her body from an unknown fear. Mariya jumped up and raced out of her abode, panic surging through her. "What has the human done this time?" she mumbled, then summoned an image of Hazel in real time.

Hazel had just stepped outside for a cup of coffee, and was now walking home. The road was dark and coated with an invisible and unforeseen danger. Mariya felt a surge of fear, as she could see what was about to happen. Ice coated the road and sidewalk. And then it appeared. Almost in slow motion, Mariya saw those two bright yellow headlights beginning to glint above the horizon. Her blood felt cold, a sensation confirming her darkest fears. It was the sensation that guardians were trained to watch out for.

Mariya recalled the words of her old teacher-"Now don't fret. You will only feel these tingles if the human is in real, life-threatening danger. By establishing a bond, you have to keep them safe, do you not? What if they were to die when you're not paying attention to them? " But this time it actually was; Mariya felt those tingles that she had worried about for so long. This was her first human, she could not let her die so soon.

Hazel's life was at stake, that was for sure. But it was not any mental issue that Mariya could simply fix with a simple sign of love or friendship. This was physical, bodily death; something that was inevitable. Something only fate could choose. Mariya's mind burned with the choices at hand. Hazel was beyond important to her, she would never be able to forgive herself if her first human died while under her control. But at the same time, she couldn't exactly go to earth to save her...could she?

Before she knew what was happening, or had a thought of reasoning, Mariya was bolting towards the Rift, a crack-like boundary which separated Earth from land of the ethereally celestial dragons. It had a singular entrance which was only slightly larger than a fully grown Celestial Dragon. Although the crack branched out all around the kingdom, oozing a cold, white mist and letting off a sorrowful groaning noise, the single entrance was near the very edge of their kingdom. This was a sort-of way to prevent any "accidents" between guardians and their humans to take place. Mariya drew close, her wings adding on speed as she ran, cutting through the air like a knife. She could see the light of the portal drawing near; she was so close, now... But suddenly another dragon jumped in front of her. "Mariya no!" The voice cried.

She slammed to a halt, crashing into the brown and white figure, who had thrown all of his weight on top of her. "Are you insane? What are you possibly thinking trying to go to Earth?" He asked, out of breath, and very irritated.

"My-my human!" Mariya cried. "She's in danger! Nick, please let me go!"

Nick's golden gaze softened, but he would not back down. "Mari, you know that's against all that we stand for. They'll find out about us, you know that. They cannot know about our race. Your human-it-it's just a human. You'll get another one if she doesn't make it." Nick was her best friend; a logical and reason-guided celestial dragon who had chosen not to become a guardian, and instead, a researcher. He stared down at her, panicked and panting. "You'd get in so much trouble by going down to earth. I seriously doubt you can picture what you're doing--"

Mariya refused to listen. "No!" She interrupted. "No. She's my friend, Nick!" Mariya struggled against his powerful grip, and with a rush of adrenaline, she managed to squirm out of his claws. In only moments, the dragon was on her feet again, racing towards the portal.

It swirled and gurgled with its mysterious white mist guarding the image of the other side. It's sound roared like a waterfall, and was almost deafening. But Nick was persistent. Again, he chased her down, and leaped into her, sending the two dragons them rolling across the floor. He had to scream to be heard against the rift's groan. "Mari stop!"

She knocked him off again, this time tears spilling from her eyes. She turned and stared at him, her heart breaking. Nick raced over and stood defensively in front of the swirling portal, which was now only a few feet away. He blocked her from entering its misty presence. "This is crazy!" He yelled. "You'll lose your job, your respect, your honor-maybe even worse if you go down there!" He planted his feet so he was facing sideways, his entire body stretching the span of the portal. His eyes shone defensively, waiting for any kind of movement, like a goalie guarding his net from a soccer ball.

She looked him up and down. Tears fell from her eyes. "Okay, fine..." She closed her tear-soaked eyes, letting the loud cries of the rift fill her mind. She began to whimper, and tried her best to look as pitiful as possible. Nick seemed to relax for a moment, and shifted his balance. This was the moment Mariya had been waiting for. Without question, without reasoning, and without logic, she sped forwards, crashing into Nick, and sending them both flying into the formless white oblivion.

Part 2-Earthbound-

There was nothing. The world was blank and empty. There was absolute nothingness in all directions-nothing up nor down, left nor right. The world was just a bright, senseless white oblivion. She fell, her body only inches from Nick, who was in a horrified trance. He hadn't fully comprehended what had just happened, and he sure as hell didn't expect to be flying down to a mortal-inhabited planet.

But then, an object appeared near the bottom of the whiteness. A grey light at the end of the blinding tunnel. And then, suddenly she had fallen into a cold, icy pavement, smacking her cheek against the hard stone. Stunned, she was unable to move for several seconds. Her brain had seemed to stop as stars appeared in her vision, and colors bobbed around, making her dizzy and dazed. Mariya regained her composure, stood up, then shook herself off. Nick lay on the street behind her, refusing to get up. She walked over to check him out.

"Hey, Nick, you alright?"

He opened his eyes, slowly, but then gave her the most vile, disgust-filled gaze she had ever seen expressed on another beings face before. His eyes then closed again. He shook his head, and they opened. Mariya was pretty sure he had just checked to see if that had actually just happened. To his obvious dismay, it had.

"Nick, really, I'm sorry." she said. Part of her was relieved that he had not received any brain damage. Nick had never been the friendliest person. He was rational above all else, and kept to himself most of the time. She had never really seen him with other dragons, as she had also noted that he was quite awkward around new faces. But that was alright, Mariya did all of the talking anyways. Nick tended to give most of his answers through facial expressions. But he was also extremely determined to keep her in line, and she respected him for that. With her goofiness and overall rash and impulsive thinking it was a wonder she hadn't died years ago. Mariya gave Nick all of credit for that. They had been friends for longer than she could remember, and he had always been there to protect her. But this was definitely different.

She decided to change the subject a bit. "Now, where do you think Hazel could be?

"We don't have much time to find out." Nick grumbled. "If she's in as much danger as you say she is, you'd better figure that out, fast."

"Right." Mariya was determined. She knew the car was gaining on her fast, and would be upon the unknowing girl within seconds. "Nick! Get up, I see the lights!" She cried. Off in the distance, she saw the two faint yellow glows, bearing down on a shadowy figure like a lioness. Of course here, neither of the two beings knew what was about to take place. "Hazel..." she whispered. It hit her suddenly on how important one single creatures life really was. This was her human. And she had just wrecked her future for something that was not even guaranteed to save her. But now that she was on Earth, there was no choice but to continue.

Mariya rushed through the falling snow and through the harsh and freezing winds. She ran with the lust of a thousand armies, and the determination of a thousand wolves. Her heart beat fast and her breath rates tripled, but she did not stop.

She ran for many meters until Hazel was only inches away from her, completely unaware of both Mariya's presence, and the rolling, thundering grasp of death that was only seconds away from catching her in its frozen fingers. Mariya knew she had to get here, but never truly thought of what to do. She couldn't warn Hazel. The girl's reaction time would be too slow. But the dragon couldn't possible knock the girl out of the way of the car, as she was far too small.

It was only then when another being yelled "Mariya go!" That she gained hope. "Thank you so much, Nick." She whispered to herself. At once, Mariya sped forewords, her best friend at her side, and pushed the girl, their combined weight easily knocking the human off balance.

The lights were baring down on them, but the girl was no longer in the line of fire. She slipped, crashing into the snow at the side of the road, landing with a soft koosh. The car roared by, and as predicted, its tire slipped on the ice, and it skidded across the road, exactly where the girl had been walking before. But now, it had recovered from the ice and was driving peacefully away.

Even though the human lay in the snow, hot coffee spilling over her coat and shoes, she was safe. Hazel was safe.

Part 3-Punished-

"Woah...what?" Hazel sat up, very suddenly, in shock. She rubbed her head, dazed and confused. "What just..?" The two fox-sized dragons that stood at her feet only seemed to appear to her just then. She let out a frightened cry and jumped backwards, kicking her feet against the snow to get away. "What in the world are you guys?" She breathed, her voice shaking. "What just happened? Where--"

Mariya didn't hear her. She stood unmoving, completely shell shocked. This was her human. Hazel was actually here, sitting before her. The girl she had protected for so long was right here. It was a dream. Never before had a celestial dragon been able to see their human in person. And Hazel felt so much more real to her now. Now she wasn't just a thought in her head or an image on her real time player. Hazel was a living, breathing, creature right in front of her.

"Hazel." She whispered. Her voice cracked with the emotion.

"How do you know my name!" The girl cried. "Who are you?"

Mariya didn't know where to start. "Hazel" she repeated, loving the way the world slipped off of her tongue. "My name is Mariya. I'm your..." she froze mid sentence, then glanced over at Nick, who was staring back.

He took over. "We're just passing by." He said, giving Mariya a pointed look. "We noticed you were in danger and decided to intervene."

Hazel seemed to process. "Wow, you saved my life. That's...pretty crazy."

Mariya smiled, her heart felt like it was going to explode. Yes. We did save your life. She was about to say something, but didn't get the chance. Nick was glaring up at the sky. "Alright you two. This is really touching and all, but we've done what we came for, now let's go." He glanced at Mariya, expectantly. She looked back, feeling rather bittersweet.

"Right."

Nick looked at her, and nodded. He gave her an understanding smile. Then the dragon turned his head upwards towards the blanketed sky. "Okay Chiron you can let us back now." He said against the roaring wind and flashing snow.

There was no reply from the heavens.

"Chiron. I know you're up there. We did what this dragon wanted to do, now take us back."

The sky remained silent.

"Please, Chiron. Mari meant no harm by this."

"Oh no." Her voice was barely tangible. In fact she wasn't even sure if she had actually spoken or if it was just another warm breath of air leaving her lungs. Mariya had expected this to be an easy rescue and then get the heck out of there. Obviously the celestial rulers (Chiron in this case) wouldn't be happy, but she hadn't expected them to completely shun her.

"Chiron, please."

It felt like they were not going to acknowledge her existence at all until a lightning bolt struck the road to their side, shattering the pavement. In its wake shone a single piece of paper. Upon further notice, the paper was a soft and faded tan with sparkles radiating from it. It was glowing slightly as well. Mariya looked up to the sky. It was cloudy and cold just as it was before, as if absolutely nothing had happened.

Mariya walked over to it, cautiously. "Okay, then." She said, trying to keep her calm "What is this, I wonder?"

The paper as it turned out, was just a drawing. A loosely sketched sort of...what? No that couldn't be right. It was a mean dragon face with angry eyebrows on it? How rude.

"What is it?" Nick asked.

It took everything she had for Mariya to not cry. The heavens had rejected her. She said nothing, just handed the parchment to her friend.

He looked it over, completely confused. "Huh... it's a map. An odd shape for one definitely. It almost looks like...a face? I can't help but wonder where the heck that land formation is found." The dragon snorted, almost amused in a sick kind of way, then turned the paper over. "Oh here we go! This sounds right." Nick cleared his threat and then read, half mumbling to himself, half loud enough for them to hear:

"Dearest Celestial Dragons. You have broken all of the laws ever held sacred to our kind. Since you wanted to be transported to the world of mortals so badly, the grand counsel has decided that the world of mortals... is where you will stay?! WHAT?" He looked panicked. His voice had risen towards the end that sentence.

She looked over at him, but couldn't find the words to speak.

Solemnly he continued. "Right there's more...There is one thing you both can do to redeem yourselves however. The celestial dragons have condemned another to Earth before this. This dragon was an evil, poisoned soul who reaped havoc in our realm, so we had no choice but to send him away. Alright...dark magic, sorcery, evil deeds, other bad stuff, yep, mhmm, dah dee dah... Ah here we go...He used to dwell in a forbidden land on this planet. We need you to find this land and retrieve an artifact"

Nick's entire face went pale, and he trailed off. He looked over at Mari. She expected him to explode at her. Yell at her. Something. But instead he sighed deeply and shook his head. "I'm with you all the way." He murdered, half to himself. "What are we going to do?"

The dragon was crushed. It hurt far worse when his anger was hidden. Because at least she deserved it. But when he did nothing, the anger would fester and eat away at her instead. And it would be a wound that would never fully heal. "What else does it say?" She asked, "Anything?"

"Yeah. The location is on the map." He flipped the paper back over. "An artifact, huh? I wonder..." The dragon examined the map, confused. "Why does this have instructions to it?" He asked. Do they seriously think we're that stupid? "Step 1-Read map. Wow, what--?"

Mariya just sorta stared off into the distance, thinking to herself. Maybe there actually was a chance that they could get back. But her thoughts were cut short when Nick yelled. "Ah, Mari! I've got it!"

She looked up, quite surprised. "Got what?

"This map is genius!" He said. "Thank goodness Celestian technology! This is incredible!"

"What?" She asked, although part of her was afraid to hear the answer. Whenever Nick got actually excited about something, it was usually nerdy and incredibly boring.

"Look here!" He said. "This map tells us where we are on it! Look at this dot. It's the location of where the map is currently in relation to the picture on it. Here, hold it."

Mariya picked it up, and instantly the red dot shifted a tiny fraction to where she held it, instead of Nick. "Huh, this is kind of cool, isn't it." She mumbled. "But we don't know where we are at all anyways? How are we even expected to find our way around a foregn planet.

Suddenly there was an uncomfortable silence as the two dragons seemed to realize the presence of Hazel. Simultaneously, they looked up at her.

"Uh" the girl said shyly.

There was a long silence. Finally, Mariya piped up. "Hazel, how well do you know this place."

"Could you be more specific" Hazel asked, "what place exactly?"

"I'm talking about Earth."

"Well, I didn't fail geography." Hazel said, thoughtfully. "Can I see the map?"

Mariya passed it over, and Hazel took a long look. The red dot shifted its tiny fraction. "Well were obviously that dot" Hazel said, pointing at the red circle. "Thats exactly where we are right now. I would assume the other dot is that treasure or whatever you're looking for..."

Mariya almost snapped from her impatientence. "Where is it, then?" She asked, dying to know.

"That may be a problem." Hazel replied..."you see-it's in South America." Upon realization that the dragons had no idea what "South America" even was, she explained. "Mari...that's your name right?" Mariya nodded so she continued, "well, right now you're in Canada. That part of South America is practically across the world from here... well, across the equator at least."

"So...how can we get there?"

"Plane I guess." She stopped. "Well, I guess that sounded better in theory. How am I going to sneak two dragons onto an airplane?" Her mouth twisted into a crooked smile. "Wow, that is a sentence I never thought I'd have to say."

Disappointed, Mariya looked at Nick. "So, any other plans? I guess we could walk...but"

Hazel shrugged and cut her off. "No, no. This is going to sound crazy, but heck, you guys saved my life. The least I can do is help save your jobs. So I'm going to take you guys to South America if it's the last thing I do."
