The idea behind this is from a vague lore I remember reading a long time ago, about these creatures who had holes in their backs and something bad happened when you looked into it. This one has it in the front and is a woodland creature of a sort, who, perhaps, after pretending to be human for some reason they end up revealing their true form. I believe they were tricking someone in particular who either hurt their feelings, or was simply someone they were leading on.
