Fairy Grubs are small aquatic mammals that reside in most shallow freshwater sources. They feed on water plants and smaller organisms but have been known to scavange fallen fruits and nuts from overhanging trees near the banks of their homes when available. They make great pets when kept in optimum conditions in a large tank with plenty of stimulation. They can be handled as they can breathe both in and out of water, but must be returned to water to remain healthy. Some people have been known to keep them because they believe they are related to faeries, hence the nickname, and think they can make good things happen by keeping a happy and healthy pet grub at home.
