name; Angie
gender; Male
favorite sea creature; cuttlefish
why?; Angie looked up from the table, looking up to his concerned caretaker- noting that they seemed to be looking at their hair. “Dad.” Angie said softly, “I just...wanted to look more like a boy- ok?” Angie’s father frowned, moving to sit down next to the sad looking angler.
Angie had always been one to try and fit in with the crowd. He was scared to stand out, he was scared to be himself around others. Everyone had assumed he was a girl, after all- Angie sounded like a very feminine name to a lot of people. He didn’t want to be seen as a girl, but he didn’t want to make a scene, and he even eventually turned to love wearing things such as dresses and cute sweaters. He eventually had enough, and didn’t go back to schooling for a long time- hiding from everyone due to his fear of being seen as a girl.
It was at this point where Angie learned about what would become his favorite animal. His father noticed his pain, and wanted to try and find a way to show Angie that boys could dress up as girls, and that he shouldn’t be ashamed for it. The clever father came up with cuttlefish. The Males dressed up as girls sometimes, and that was normal to them- so why wouldn’t it be normal for Angie? When he was told this, Angie couldn’t help but feel more confident, knowing that another creature was like him in that way. He learned more about cuttlefish, and felt more and more connected to the species as his favorite animal.
“Thanks, Dad. That...really helped. Can you get my sweater from the garbage?” He laughed, embarrassed by his previous action of tossing his ‘feminine’ clothing into the garbage.
