what's ollie's favorite sea creature?:
ollie's favorite sea critter is the vampire squid. they think
these squids are pretty rad creatures, and their natural red
and blue coloring is hauntingly beautiful. these squids are
found in extreme deep sea conditions, therefore they're part
of the more funky side of sea creatures. these squids are
actually placed in their own order, vampyromorphida, even
though they share similarities with squids and octopuses.
vampire squids can turn themselves 'inside out', exposing
rows of sharp projections to ward off predators. very rarely
do these squids ink though, and when they do, they produce
a bioluminescent mucus that is used to daze the predator.
