How are they treated differently?:
Tiffany has been raised by a small group of pigeons for as long as she can remember. She doesn't know who her parents are, or where she came from, though she once overheard a conversation between the two lead pigeons about her being from a "genetic experiment." She has no idea what that means, and she doesn't care enough about her past to try to find out. Since she doesn't know her biological family, Tiffany considers all six pigeons in her flock to be her family. Her flock has responded to this by raising and treating her as one of their own.

Tiffany has been told again and again that it is not safe for her to be seen up close by humans. From a distance, she's fine, since she's quite a small cat and looks like simply another pigeon, but up close, a human would recognize her as a winged cat. Tiffany's flock is very careful to roost in secure and hidden places at night, to hide Tiffany away while they go out into the open to eat, and to hide her in the middle of the flock while flying through the city. Tiffany's not entirely sure why her flock goes through such lengths to protect her, but she thinks it might have to do with her potentially scaring the humans. Once, when she was very young, she approached a little girl to steal breadcrumbs from under her chair. The girl's mother grabbed the child and ran away screaming human gibberish. Tiffany's not sure why the humans find her scary, but she doesn't want to mentally hurt them, so she lets the flock keep her hidden.

Tiffany's only met other cats a few times, but they've never treated her very nicely. She's been taunted and bullied for being strange and different from "normal" cats on numerous occasions. Usually, she just flies away from the felines and ignores their rude comments. She's used these bullying incidents are proof that she's much better off living with her flock than with a group of cats.
