He saw a little snail-like one carrying a ladybug-like one on its back. This is also how he met Kirei, literally running into the mare. They got to know each other and became fast friends. He has no idea she may have a crush on him...That’s beside the point anyhow, and he remembers how they waded out into water once together, to see the adolescent alien water creatures there.
