A voice beckons you to come closer as you walk into the massive field. Looking around the tree, you see no one, but it's branches begin to shake. "Welcome...I am the ancient Pautree of this land. There are many of my brothers scattered around this world, but I am the one that reigns here. I keep an eye out for Paus who are doing well, and give them gifts for proving their worth. Every two days I will give you a simple quest, and you can earn my trust."

A branch leaned down and left a note behind in the dirt. You proceed to the next page for instructions.

Gavin was the one to really step out of the plane. Skelle was too afraid to get off of the plane and had to be carried by his scruff out of the plane, and Zenith seemed keen on trying to jump out of a window of the plane. Unfortunately for the green child, he was brought out by an steward and was placed down next to the other adult Paushin. "Thanks, Sorry about him. He's just excited to be here." Gavin tried to smile as the steward returned to the plane, the male looking down angrily towards the small one next to him. Zenith huffed as he looked towards his chaperone, and Skelle just seemed concerned for everyone involved. The small skeleton-marked child tried to lighten up the mood with a large smile. "Hey! Now that we're here, we'll be able to go on that Safari! And Play games! I hear there's bird-watching too!" Gavin smiled at the other's words, while Zenith seemed to groan at the thought of bird-watching. "Pft, Forget Bird Watching! That's for dorks, like my brother. We're here to hunt some giraffes!" The tiny male stood on his hind legs, smiling and laughing at his own words. The eldest of the three laughed at his friend's kid before Skelle seemed to scream in panic. "You can't DO THAT! We need to protect these animals, not hurt them! A lot of the animals here are on the endangered species list because so many people have hunted them down! You are NOT going to add onto that problem!"Gavin sighed as the other two continued to argue, deciding to pick up both of them and place them on his back so they could argue on the move. "Come on you two, we've got a long vacation ahead of us."

yawning as he woke up, sheldon sleepily walked off the plane. when he finally exited the airport is when he fully woke up. there was so much to take in all at once! jogging over to a little faq section next to the welcome sign, he quickly scanned the different activities. musing out loud to himself, sheldon decided that the first thing that he would check out would most definitely be the bird watching. nothing made him feel happier than being out in nature, and birds are just so pretty that it was a win-win.

while walking to the area where the bird watching was being held, sheldon felt a small presence by his right paw. it was none other than a small snake! holding back an initial yelp of surprise, sheldon took another glance at the new friend that decided to curl up around his leg. letting out a small 'wow' at the fact that the snake matched his fur almost perfectly, he smiled and continued on his journey with an extra little bounce in his step.

after arriving to bird watching, the little snake slithered off. sheldon decided on the spot that bird watching could wait a few minutes and instead followed the slithering pal he made. the two ended up at a large tree that had a little book in front of it. curiously opening the book, sheldon grinned as he realized it was a small record of adventurers that had found it. dipping his paw in the inkpad that was hidden in the book, he left his pawprint in the book before hiding it back and walking back.

what a fun start to the safari! he was more than ready to have even more fun in the following days.

Renjin - profile - [209 words]

renjin isn't doing too bad with the surroundings. being blind made it harder than ever to see the supposedly
beautiful wildlife around him. ren chooses to sit and listen to the wildlife and imagine what they would look
like. mosquitoes weren't quite a big problem since he could hear them before they got too close. renjin
yearns to explore more and have a buddy to describe the wonderful sights in the area. renjin yearns to see
the majestic penguin that he's heard was around the safari somewhere. dealing with the bugs and traveling
along the way wasn't too bad once he reached camp. when renjin does hear something interesting he tries
very hard to follow the sound and get closer. unfortunelty all he's found are birds that fly away when he gets
too close. renjin does have a fun pastime though, he likes to count all the different animal calls he hears and
see whats around the most. bird watching isn't very easy for him, but he tries to take his time and shoot
photos in the general area of the animal. he does like to hear what's in the picture that other pau's have
captured. he dreams of finding the majestic penguin so he can hear it's call.

"Zenith, get down here and put on your hat!" Gavin yelled up towards a tree, holding up a hat that had a small net around the rim of it, squinting as Zenith popped his little neon green head from the darker green of the tree, and said a simple phrase before popping back into the tree. "You're not my dad." Gavin growled at the other's sass, and seemed to increase his volume as he yelled once again. "Get out of the tree, I am your uncle!" Once again, Zenith popped his head out the tree and laughed a bit at the other's response, only to say something to argue back at him. "You're not my dad, I'm in a tree, and you're not-" Skelle seemed to bust out laughing at this phrase, falling to the ground and covering their mouth as they giggled. They were wearing a smaller version of the same hat, as Gavin had bought three of them to protect both himself and the kids from the onslaught of mosquitoes. But it was very clear that Zenith just was not having it. Gavin pulled out a device and pointed it at the tree, still arguing with the little one that kept popping his head in and out of the foliage.

"I will call your mother, get out of the tree-" Zenith was quick to respond with something that made Skelle laugh even more, though he tried to hide it from the increasingly angry Gavin. "I'm literally in a tree right now, you're not. You're not my dad." Gavin sighed, sitting down and placing the hat on the ground as he put his paws over his temples. God, this was why he should have made someone else take care of the kids. Skelle, once he calmed down from laughter, picked up the small hat and looked towards the kit in the tree, holding it up towards them. He was still laughing as he tried to speak. "Zenith please get out of the tree-hehe" There was a pause, and Gavin seemed to hold his breath to wait and see if Zenith would actually agree when it was his best friend. "Okay."

When they got back to their lodging space, someone claimed that there was a scream outside of someone being mauled by an animal. Zenith was quick to explain that it was just his uncle, who had been trying to get him to wear a hat and get out of a tree for hours so that he could be safe from bugs, and not get hurt by giraffes. The look on Gavin's face, with his eyes blankly staring off through his bug-net, said everything that anyone needed to know about the situation.

day two prompt; how do you feel about the business? / paushin: sheldon / word count: 214

glancing around and listening hard, sheldon heard that tell-tale buzz of a mosquito coming by to attack him. nimbly jumping side to side, he did his best to avoid it before remembering bugs dn't like water. heading to a nearby lake, he decided it was the perfect time to go for a swim!

cool, refreshing water... nature all around...nothing could be better than this! floating on his back, sheldon opened his eyes to cloud watch for a little bit, trying to spot some birds. look, there was one! as the bird flew to sit on a nearby tree, sheldon quietly swam out of the water and shook himself off before sneaking closer to try and identify it.

it was the most common bird around these parts - one of the ones that he had identified earlier at the bird watching activity, in fact. idly, he wondered if it could even be the same bird. as he was observing the little creature, it seemed to observe him back - cocking it's head to the side and curiously hopping on a branch closer to him.

smiling, sheldon reflected on how different the safari is from the bustling city. how nice it was, with so many wonderful creatures and places to explore.

at least until that mosquito stung him.
