"The floating islands of Maraene, of course!
Me and my rider, Alexander, went to the floating islands of Maraene, a beautiful group of floating lands up in the sky. Usually, it's quite hard to reach because it has weird, ray-like creatures under it that seem to be guarding the floating lands. Once they're gone (they migrate to a cooler place around the end of spring, that's how we tell it's finally summer!), the way is open for echons and riders to reach them.
All islands look a bit different: one has big rocks, the other has a little lake in the center, but the one we always go to is a big island that has a dense, ancient forest.
From the outside, this forest looks scary; like if one goes in, they'll never be able to get out. That inside is so dark that you can't see a thing, because no light can pass through the dense crowns of trees. That the foliage is so dense, no one can see when something is about to jump at them.
When in reality, the rays of the Sun dimly shining through the leaves gives just enough light so that one is able to see the trees and foliage. Fireflies can be seen flying in groups and fluorescent mushrooms light the ground here and there and shining moss grows on some trees. Sometimes, you can even spot glowing butterflies too!
When you get to the middle of the forest, there's a little lake there with big glowing mushrooms. This is where we go when we come here; it's surrounded by trees and those mushrooms and the water is so clean you can see the bottom! It's cool and deep enough that you can swim in it. You can't even see the sky here though, only the emerald colored leaves as the light shines through them. It really is a beautiful place!"
