Achilleus, being a historian, enjoys any book that explains events from the point of view of people who were actually there. Killer Angels is a book about the Civil War that offers a look into the lives of various soldiers during the notable battles, such as Gettysburg. This offers a wider perspective and a deeper understanding into what was going through the thoughts of people during that time period, from the soldiers on both sides of the battlefield, to the civilians who could only stand and watch the horror that unfolded around them. Instead of just recounting facts and events, this book, in some ways, brings history to life.
The book also includes charts and maps of where the armies were, which way they moved, and their battle tactics, as well as the recorded numbers of men. It also provides descriptions of how the soldiers looked physically, as well as a summary of the personality of each major character.
Unlike some history-based books, the author of this book has avoided opinions and avoided altering facts, instead referring to quotes the people actually said themselves. The language is brought up to a more modern equivalent, making it easier to comprehend. This means that Achilleus can also quote it to students without any misunderstandings.
The way the book itself is written is another reason Achilleus enjoys it. The perspective the reader is viewing things from switches between characters throughout the chapters, including whole chapters from the perspective of the more minor characters, such as an unnamed spy. It includes foreshadowing in both obvious and subtle ways, and the reading is a very smooth experience as the reader shifts from character to character and learns more about their personality, thoughts and feelings. There is of course still plenty of action with the battles.

They’re quite well read- but enjoy the classics and have a love for Edgar Allen Poe’s literature, especially those that heir on the dark side. Pirimisius is a bit of an introvert who would rather settle in with a good book than go out to party. They enjoy coffee shop vibes and horror stories especially, Stephen King being another of their favorite authors.
