why is the creature entangling them(?): The creature is the embodiment of guilt, of pain and sadness and everything that can weigh down the heart and soul of a man. It has a firm grasp on him, holding him hostage from the rest of the world for crimes that he did not truly commit... but he certainly feels responsible for them and the outcome. It is the dark, shadowy feeling that smothers the light - the hopes and happiness - in depression.

why is the creature entangling them(?): It is the physical manifestation of his soul. It must stay wrapped around the body for if were to come away then the body would die. Leaving the soul without a host and creating openings for those with dark magic to twist and torment it until it became a demon.

Soul-bound as it is, the creature, referred to as Imal, is far from benevolent. Forced into the contract both Lian and Imal now share souls, and so are connected in body and mind; Imal is the source of Lian’s magic, Lian is the physical shell for Imal. Imprisioned as they are, deeds dishonorable and malicious wrought before being tied to one another, Imal often takes the form of a creature encircling it’s prey, though in fact he is using himself as a barrier for Lian; Imal himself does not feel pain, but when dealt through Lian it is crippling to both the warlock and the familiar.

why is the creature entangling them(?) : Noujian has been chosen as a sarifice to feed the hunger of this evil creature. But she's not feeding of your body, she's feeding of your mind. She'll enter Noujian's soul and eat all his good deeds, as well as his dearest memories and then she'll explore his darkest thoughts.
I said this creature was "evil", but in fact it's not the right adjective to qualify her. For her a majority of people aren't honest with their inner self.
" You're just pretending to be yourself, to know yourself, bla bla bla .. Pure crap. " She said. "But what you're trying to hide from yourself, to be socially acceptable, what the society dictate since the beginning of humanity, is a part of you too. You are not complete without it. "

Will Noujian go by her sides or will he try to escape the creature and rebel against her mindset ?

why is the creature entangling them(?):
The creature is called a würgen (after a german word meaning To strangle or choke). They are similar enough in nature to the mosquito of Earth, but due to their overall size and large range of liveable area they are much more common, deadly and yes, annoying. Würgen usually live in black holes (yes, in space) and only venture out every hundred or so years to feed. Ancient societies of the Overworld (in short a collection of kingdoms made of stardust, home to thousands of species) used to select ten prisoners to feed to the würgen in order to keep their societies safe for the next hundred (or so) years. As the flocks of hundreds of würgen descend, the worst prisoners are placed into a courtyard for the "queen bee" würgen to feed on. She first will use a stinger to inject her victim with a venom to make the consumption as painless as possible (it just so happens that this venom is also used as a recreational drug much further in the future). After the sting takes effect, the prisoner is enveloped in a cloak of black mist and then consumed, leaving behind only the golden shackles and jewelry he was wearing.

I would be very interested to see this species! I am always looking for more humanoid characters for my writing/ character building for the Overworld!

why is the creature entangling them?
cursed gold. The very touch poisoning his soul, but as always, his kind is drawn back to the glitter and shine. It binds him, enthralls him. Upon his shoulders he bears a cloak of pure white, utterly unfit for the likes of him, woven with spells to catch and trap. The weight upon his shoulders made him struggle to keep his balance as he dragged his feet forward, compelled to walk towards lifelong hunters. He was the prey, well and truly ensnared.

But the cloak was not truly all the weight on his shoulders, and he felt claws secure a firm but gentle grasp on his hair. ”don’t,” the voice murmured, a whisper in his ear. The body of the creature felt like a mere wisp yet tangible, serpentine body curling over his legs. Malin’s breath labored as his body fought to put another foot forward but the weight of the creature dragged him down. His mind was murky and he felt as if his consciousness was shattered. His thoughts moved sluggishly, trying to turn his head to catch the eye of the entity curled over his body, but his eyes remained staring at his bindings. He could not tell friend or foe, malice or kindness, and he struggled to catch the thoughts that flitted out of reach in the recess of his mind.

”don’t leave me,” the voice sighed a second time, wrapping leathery, torn wings around him. The wings shielded his face from the glow of the gold and Malin broke free from the spell for just a moment. What had he been thinking about- there! The thought was in his grasp now, and he remembered who was currently coiled around him. Agni- shadow beast and lifelong friend. Then the murkiness overcame him again and Malin succumbed to the spell once more.

”i will protect you.” the voice came again, and Malin felt reassured- but who was it speaking again?

should I create a humanoid species?: I would love to see a species from you, but one off adopts provide more flexibility with designs and concepts, and time too. But if you like structured species with guidelines and lore, then I say go for it !! ovo

why is the creature entangling them(?):

To protect him. She might be a foreign beast that doesn't belong in this world, but she's here to stay by Montaigne's side. Despite her menacing look, she's a kind, sentient being with a soft embrace, similar to a mother. Montaigne called her 'Mother' while growing up and it sticked. Her long body is tepid and gave Montaigne the warmth of a hug, to soothe him down whenever his magic tried to control him.

Montaigne is the blessed child of the Goddess of Chaos, making him her oracle and a direct power source. His mother died while giving birth to him, as part of the contract. His father, the king, locked him in his chambers after an incident that almost costed him his life. A paranoid ruler and a lonely child that does not know happiness. Such a sight. One night, Montaigne was crying to himself as his unstable magic was hurting him. He's simpy a child and his power can't be controlled even with training. He can only learn from what he had experienced. Then, it happened. He felt the affectionate touch of something–no, someone. It was Mother, curling around him and purring softly like a cat in an attempt to calm him. It worked. He didn't know how or why Mother was there that night, but it didn't matter for him. He wasn't alone anymore.

Now an adult, Mother is still with him. Mother speaks in an old, forgotten language that can't be heard by most ears, but Montaigne understood her words. She would give advices, encouragements, wisdoms, anything he needed. She's always there for him, one way or another.

should I create a humanoid species(?): heck yeah! If you can and want, that is. You can even write lores and as a sucker for those I'd totally be hyped. Developing species are fun, if you wanna focus on that! But even then I'd totally be interested anyway.
