- Shay and Malachi Bishop were both born into the imperial family of Rasland, and yet their worlds could not be more different. On one side there is a destiny meant to be fulfilled with the weight of the world bearing down. On the other is freedom of expression but there was public disdain of it.
As the eldest daughter it is Shay's place to one day take the throne from her mother. This meant everything in her life is fixated on perfection; the way she speaks, how she dresses, what she is taught. One piece out of line was of far too much consequence. The young girl attempts to live up to this burden with all her ability and yet still so much is expected of her. From the diplomatic training to the strategic battle plans she has learned the world for what it truly is. "When you look from above," he mother says, "you see the world as a chess board. You are the queen and it is your duty to protect the King, all of Rasland." The stresses of her life often weigh down her shoulders. Shay gets easily frustrated with herself and that frustration turns to anger. Her outlet... is Malachi.
Despite truly loving her brother, when Shay sees his carefree life all she feels is resentment. The duties, her role to play, it all controls and manipulates her mental state to the point of deep rooted anguish. It buries itself and festers. The moment things boil over she attacks the easiest target. Her scathing tone scolds his actions and harsh words often spill from soft lips. It isn't her intention to be cruel. Sometimes she doesn't even realize she's doing it. Yet every time he seeks her out for affection the only thing she gives in return is bitterness.
