I used to have colors. I used to be beautiful. I got all the attention I ever wanted, all the ladies I could ask for. Sometimes even all the men I wanted. Then I lost it. Because of them. The humanoids that took away everything, my large wings. My beautiful colors, my dignity.

They started with taking away my home. It was when I was asleep, I don’t even know how they took me away, who else is left, or if I will ever be freed. They dropped me in a room I can only describe as empty. It was void of feelings or color, had nothing but me and walls surrounding me. Consuming me. I felt sick. What did they do to me?

It smelled like one of those hospitals you have night-mares of, ones you wake up sweating and panting from. The only thing I could feel was the souls of those that died here. The only thing I could hear was their echoes. “Run” “Save us” “Where’s the light?” Those echoes become my friends... though I couldn’t speak with them.

Those people that took me eventually started injecting things into me, testing me, limiting me. Every day I was there I ate and drank less. Eventually I noticed my colors fading away. Why? What did hose injections do? My beautiful colors faded to greys and depression. I could feel my soul leaving with my colors... They even took my name from me, calling me 2307 as if I was some project. Why was my number so high though? Was I far from the first? What happened to the others...

One day I woke up to bandages tightly around my decaying waste. Why? Because I soon found out they took my wings. My emotions were cut out with those wings... I lost the will to even think. I felt so dehydrated; physically and emotionally. Mentally I was a scorching desert begging for water to give me life. But I was never granted it.

I learned to live with those tests after they did something to my magnificent horns. It was like when I found my wings missing, only different. I didn’t have bandages covering the wounds from them being pulled out, they took my horns out and replaced them with different ones of a material I wasn’t familiar with. I could feel it was different, and it was confirmed when I saw my own reflection. Only it wasn’t me. It was a ghost of me, desaturated and strange. It wasn’t me anymore, this was their creation. Everything about me was dehydrated. Everything was taken. I wasn’t me anymore, I was 2307.

That’s when I learned dehydration isn’t just lack of thirst, but lack of self.
