Pack of Birch Trees

Postby mochii_ » Wed Nov 01, 2017 11:43 am

Pack of Birch Trees
Number of Wolves: 5 || Pack Rank: 5 || Current Season: Summer

Pack Traditions/Lore:
When a pup comes of age, they are thrown in the river. Whether they sink or swim will decide whether they stay in the pack. If a wolf does not believe that they will survive and skip the ceremony, they will have to fight with the Alpha. They are far less likely to survive in a fight with the Alpha, so only the most foolish pups would rather fight the alpha than try to swim in the river.
Whenever there is a wildfire, Birch Pack sacrifices the largest piece of prey to burn. They believe this makes the fire happy and less likely to burn down the entire forest.
Each time a wolf moves to or from Alpha male/female, beta, or omega, they gain a scar on one of their forelegs. Alphas always have at least three scars (unless they are the first Alpha, like Deadnettle) and must go through the ordeal while healing themselves to ready them for the position. Omegas get medicine when they receive a scar so that they can move through the ranks easier and not suffer as much.
Every full moon, the pack howls at the moon with their hopes and dreams. They believe the one wolf with the most heartfelt song's wish will come true. A wolf with a song of greed and hate will be thrown in the river. For this reason, every wolf must sing in camp, so that even a wolf with a heartfelt song full of hatred will not have their wish fulfilled.
Pack Structure:
Birch Pack will only accept the strongest wolves as their own; for an outsider to join the pack (if the pack has over ten wolves), they must swim across the fast part of the river. After this, they start at the Omega rank and must work their way up. Birch Pack tries to make it easier for Omegas to move through the ranks so that they do not have to be in the lowest rank for long and suffer immense hunger, etc.
The ranks go as follows, the top of the list has the highest rank and the lowest at the bottom.
-Alpha female
-Alpha male
-Beta
-Healer
-Pack member (most common)
-Pup
-Omega
Birch Pack is known for being a calm group, though weakness isn;t tolerated at all. This mindset can lead to some pretty awkward conversations with other packs. Though they make sure a fight is avoidable with another pack before attacking, any form of weakness or betrayal in the pack will result in hostility and attack.

Your Alpha Pair is ready to mate
It is now winter and your Alphas are ready to mate this year.
    - write their courting; taking a walk or playing (fade to black before they get to the den; follow site rules!)
    - or choose to pass this year

Send out a patrol:
Wolf names(max 4): Thorn
Area to patrol(north border, by river, eastern forest, etc.):
Thorn patrol along the South River, attempting to pick up any traces of animals who may have tried to cross the frozen river or find water to drink.

Courting:
Thorn and Deadnettle lazed around camp, with only two Pack members, life could be a drag. Thorn stood up and poked Deadnettle, whose intimidating gaze followed her as she poked him once more, urging him to follow.
"Come on! Let's play hide and seek!" Thorn pawed at the ground. "I'll hide first!"
Deadnettle stood up and silently agreed. He looked in the opposite direction than Thorn as she hid in the den.

"Deadnettle!" Thorn barked to her mate. "I scented a caribou," the brown wolf narrowed her eyes as Deadnettle approached, smiling slightly at the thought of a hunt. They two made their way to the river, being careful as to not alert the caribou they were coming. The two wolves crossed the river, their claws preventing them from slipping and falling on the ice. They positioned themselves on either side of the caribou, which didn't look too old but had gray hairs on its face nonetheless. Deadnettle attacked it from behind, biting its back leg as Thorn came back in from its front and went for its throat.

- It is now Spring! -

Last Season recap:
    Wolves went Hungry: 0
    Serving Left: 0
    - Litter Born! (will create your alphas and litter now. ^^ I'm super sorry for the long wait! ;-;)

The caribou was startled and kicked out Deadnettle, but couldn't get in a successful hit and the wolf just kept hanging on. His mate lounged for it's neck and bit down hard, causing the caribou's airway to get crushed. The creature thrashed before falling to its knees. It took a little while longer before it finally succumbed to death.
Hunting Successful!
Your wolves have successfully killed the prey!
- 1 Caribou Cow has been added to your stock

Deadnettle went out on patrol alone, as Thorn was staying with the new pack's pups. He patrolled along the Northern river, keeping an eye out for any creatures that had ventured out to drink the cool water. He decided to check the scrub along the edge of the birch woods as well, checking for any wolves that may have crossed their territory.
