it was the sort of sadness that becomes so intrinsic, so familiar that one can no longer recognize it as sadness; it was just how things were. there was no laughter or smiling like in childhood times—there wasn’t even any talking at this point. it was radio silence on both ends. discussion wasn’t an option for what was there to discuss? the betrayal that rot luca’s heart—was it truly betrayal? did either really know what had happened? luca left and as much as he wished for anything between them, even fighting, there was nothing. the place in one’s heart that only their kin can occupy was gone and for what? nothing. there was nothing and everything to miss, so he closed off that bitter and gaping hole inside him. he missed his sister. he missed feeling. he wanted to breathe again.
