Nellie is very into escapism, to a point where she will neglect most everything else. Bills may go unpaid, relationships break apart, chores don't get done . . . etc. She seems to not realize how greatly she is impacting her life, but in reality she really does know what she's doing. She may turn a deaf ear to kalons when they bring it up, but she's knowingly doing what she does.
Outside of the escapism, Nellie is generally a decent person. She tries to help her friends and family out, but can sometimes be blissfully unaware of other's problems. It's not that she ignores them or anything, she just has a hard time picking up when others need a bit of a hand. You have to directly state your issue, otherwise she often doesn't know that you need/want help. However, if she does know you need help (even if you are a stranger), she will go out of her way to help you. She likes to believe that everyone is worth helping, no matter who they are or what they've done.
