Shiloh grew up in a small rural village called Laios in the harsh deserts of Galadan. Very few rivers flowed through the valley which made water a precious resource to the outlying residents. When he was born, the village was experiencing one of the worst droughts in its history. The people could not trek the bounding dunes to the larger cities as even their transport animals were dying off from thirts. Making the journey without one was almost suicidal, and yet many tried and failed.
The villagers were astounded however, that on the eve of Shiloh’s birth great travelers from the capitol arrived with plenty of water and fresh food for everyone. When asked how the travelers knew the village was on the verge of extinction, they simply replied that a foreboding feeling drove them there. Strange things began happening around the child not longer after that. Illnesses seemed to be cured, and the crops were growing at twice the rate.
Eventually, they began attributing all of the good fortune to the belief in a gift Shiloh must have. He was blessed by the deities. Yet what they didn’t realize was that it was one good fortune and nothing more…
Shiloh was swallowed by this praise of worship from the people of Laios. They held him up on a pedestal and kept him safe from any dangers. They never let him wander outside the village, and he wasn't allowed friends for fear of them tainting his gift. He was isolated and yet beloved at the same time. Soon, word spread of the miracle child, and eventually these tales reached the ears of the reigning Emperor. The Empress was deathly ill from a disease that left her constantly weak, and this disease was transferred to their only daughter. It was demanded that he be escorted to the capital of Galadan and raised there within the palace. Taken from the only home he knew, he was locked even behind walls when he arrived in the capitol. The worship grew, and so did the fortune. The people fell so easily for myths and craved more.
It did not last though, as fortune tends not to.
Bad thing started happening again, and with so long a time of good fortune these small evils felt like millions to the people of Galadan. Crops became infested and died off, water sources began dwindling, and the blame was placed on Shiloh. They believed he held the power to stop it and instead was punishing them. Try as he might, Shiloh could not do anything to help the people, and their ire turned to hatred. Eventually, the Empress died, and the princess was not cured. The Emperor in his grief was furious.
With this hatred, they made the very person they once worshiped an outcast. Shiloh was banished from Galadan. They discarded him outside the kingdom walls and left him to fend for himself with nothing but the clothes on his back. He traveled for days knowing only of hunger and thirst until he met a young knight who hailed from the northern kingdom of Arlasia. Prince Luka was his name, and he took Shiloh back to the capitol with him. From there he was given a room within the palace to rest. After learning of the tragedy that befell him, Luka’s sister Yvette offered permanent residence within Arlasia.
As they grew older Shiloh, Prince Luka, and the crown princess Yvette became great friends. Shiloh was tutored in diplomacy, and when he became of age he was given the title of Royal Adviser to Arlasia. He also learned a knack for the art of healer, discovering medicinal cures and remedies that helped see the Arlasian people through harsh winters. He became a staple of the kingdom and well loved within it.
