For each of my designs I can't help but want to create some sort of story for them while I'm creating them. This fellow's story is inspired by the story of Icarus. The idea was that he created wings to fly, but the wings failed him resulting in the loss of his arm and his leg. However, this fellow found himself trapped in a ruined city among the clouds. Now he longs to return back to his home.

The keyword "grey" comes into play not in color, but in the feeling "grey" resonates with people. Grey tends to be a feeling of heaviness or sorrow, so this caused the loss of the character's arm and leg.
The song "Rise" was the idea that while this character no longer has a way to return to his home, he still wants to "rise" up to the challenge anyways. His hope hasn't completely vanished.
The palette - I kinda forgot about. I had imagined this design originally with browns, but I'm rather pleased with the end result. Though I had to pick a skin tone as the palette didn't have a color that would work well as one.


I've decided to keep this design for myself!
