Agni Kai is, for lack of better terms, a donkey. Those of you old enough to understand curse words will know what I'm talking about.
He's a jerk. He's rude, awful, a troll even. He's the one who screams "come at me scrublord" during videogames and drinks way too much baja moutaindew. But there's more to him than just his unpleasant qualities. Agni Kai was born and raised in the big city, learned life through sidewalk and fire escape. His family wasn't very well put together. At the age of 7 his father left him and his mother behind with 5 other siblings. Agni Kai was always the oldest, the well put together, the strongest. He talked his mother from the brink time and time again when times got hard and when it rained, by God it poured. Agni Kai had never really had the chance to be anything but an adult I suppose.
He became the man of the house, having to help 5 siblings through the strange discourse that was their lives and when he finally went off to college, he couldn't stay. Not with the constant fear of his mother leaving them, or his siblings struggling. So he got mixed up with some of the wrong crowd before he left. The crowd that promised him protection over his family, and that promised funding if he did what they wanted from him. It wasn't exactly the kind of choice he would have made any other time. But when your back is against the wall and your resources are limited, you'll be surprised by what you'll allow and what you won't. Screw being a good person. You have a family to take care of.
Now he rests a little bit easier knowing his illegal activities are at least bearing some fruit. While he adored college and engineering and learning technology while he was there, something far more important than a flimsy piece of paper saying "you passed" came up. After all, what use is a diploma if you can't use it and right now, Agni Kai truly couldn't use it.
As time grew however, he discovered just why he hated it. Oh he was a wiz at technology, cracking down codes, bringing in information, but as time went on he struggled just to find a place of his own. After a fight that left him half dead thanks to some unhappy clients, Jesse discovered him out in the snow and simply couldn't just leave him there. So he took him with him. When Agni Kai awakened it was to 25 miss calls from his mother and siblings and 1 from his job. Now he simply lies in wait for them to contact him again, al the while working through the latest list of clients sent to him. He still gets paid, but he's worried about his family.
