A rather opinionated child, Ariana is a soul who prefers her own company. It's not that she doesn't like other plumies, it's just that she loves stillness and solitude, something not often found at social events. Especially when you are a kid. Ariana was born old, you could say; much preferring activities like reading poetry and watching documentaries on architecture than running around like a headless chicken and stuffing herself with candy. She still exhibits certain childlike traits though; not knowing when to keep her mouth shut, the irrational fear of monsters under the bed and a compelling curiosity.
It is this curiosity that drives her whole character, motivates her beyond any reward or prize. The constant, pressing need to know things. To know why the earth is round, why the sky is blue. Even as a very young plumie Ariana was constantly on the search for the answer to anything and everything she did not understand. And in school, she is always in the library, reading, learning, devouring knowledge like a succulent piece of steak. (From her attitude toward learning, you would think she excelled in school wouldn't you? Well um. Think again. But that's a story for another time)
But as flattering as that aspect of her is, let's face it; she's pretty vulgar. Blunt, intolerant, stubborn and sarcastic are just a few of her charming traits. Not to mention her wide vocabulary of colorful insults. Despite her shortcomings though, which make her come across as a rude little you-know-what, she really does care about others. She just doesn't sugarcoat things. At all. No one in their right mind would employ her as a lawyer, let's just put it that way. Her compassion lies thinly veiled beneath her exterior, and if push comes to shove she will always help those in need. Just don't expect her to tell you it's going to be alright when it very clearly isn't.

- Though this may seem a fairly obvious hobby, not many plumerians actually know the real passion Ariana has for astronomy. Especially stars and everything associated with them. She has certainly spent more than one dusk-till-dawn charting the constant patterns of the moving constellations. She loves the idea that they are a time machine of sorts, as the light from the stars has taken millions of years to reach Earth. "To gaze upon the sky is to peer into the past," is how she likes to put it. One of her favourite moments so far was when she witnessed the birth of a nebula.
- This is certainly Ari's more widely known passion. Carrying her camera everywhere, she is constantly whipping it out to snap a pic. One of her cameras that is. She has a few. She has her regular (rather out-dated) Nikon that she loves, because she picked it up in a thrift shop and it still takes pretty good photos. Then there is her video camera, her phone, a little digital waterproof camera, and a Go-pro, which is her pride and joy. Prisque also occasionally lets her borrow her big 'Professional Camera' with all its fancy lenses. Oh how she loves that thing. But the camera she wants the most is a polaroid. She wants one so bad, and has been saving up for years. Well, her birthday is coming up in a few months! Who knows, maybe she'll finally get one.
- Ariana loves to keep a few books tucked away for a rainy day (or even a sunny one), and can sometimes spend hours scanning rows of text. She doesn't really like all books though; only fiction. Unless its a really interesting biography or a guide to photography, drawing or astronomy, she can't be bothered with non-fiction. It's the fantastical, far fetched plots she loves. She especially like to read fantasy before she hits the hay; it gives her something to dream about. She may not be the worlds biggest book nerd, but let me tell you, she sure isn't far away. She doesn't really fit the stereotype however; in fact, she much prefers listening to audiobooks over reading. People accuse her of not being a 'true fan,' which she thinks is ridiculous. She knows the plotline of Harry Potter way better than them anyways.
- Before you read any further, don't have any high expectations. Ari is certainly no classy artist. She simply loves to doodle and sketch. Mainly in her schoolbooks. Mainly in her math book. After all, it's not like those are skills she cares particularly about. Her friends tell her she is a fantastic drawer, but Ari just laughs because though she is no where near the worst, there are many much much better than her. She has tumblr, after all., and follows more than one artist. Being able to draw moderately has turned out to be quite a useful skill however; it certainly aids her with drawing star maps and touching up her photographs in Photoshop. If she practiced, she could probably improve her skill, but she doesn't have the patience for that sort of thing.
- A rather nifty little program on MacBooks (and more recently, iPhones), this app allows you to create full pieces of music...without actually knowing how to play an instrument. Though you would think a single program hardly counts as a hobby, when you spend as much time and effort as Ari on it, it really does become one. She has created a countless number of songs on it, and some are really quite pretty. She has even released a small album on ITunes. Though it hasn't sold much, it makes her feel kind of satisfied. That doesn't mean Ari is at all considering a career in DJing though. No, don't get that idea at all. (Though she has to admit that would be pretty cool.)
- Though it seems rather odd in comparison to her other interests, Ice Skating is one of Ari's larger passions. She is a regular at her local rink, and has perfected many difficult manoeuvres like loop jump and backwards skating. Her skill level is neat Olympic, but she doesn't really let anyone know about this, because then they would insist she went to competions. And she doesn't want that. For her, ice skating is a hobby, not a prize to be won. Whenever she goes out skating with friends she pretends to be a lot worse than she is; the only plumie who knows her real level of skill is Akemi, because how could she not?

She doesn't bother getting to know those she doesn't agree with. Or get along with. At all. So she can't possibly have a relationship with them if she knows zilch about their lives.

- Ari, Akemi and Kuro. Also known as AAK (As Akemi likes to call them), the three musketeers (According to Kuro), or Harry, Ron and Hermione (According to Ariana). The three are the best of friends, and have been for a while now. Their friendship has odd beginnings though, and it has become a favourite story of theirs to tell to others.
Ariana and Akemi have known each other for years. They met in kindergarten, where 'best friends' was as simple as a question and the fact that their names sound similar. But it seems their friendship was the right fit, because they stayed close all through primary school, (and as far through secondary as they have gotten). Helping each other through heartbreak, and getting in on the fun action together, the two are practically like sisters. For a long time it was just them, the dynamic duo. So where does Kurotasu come in?
It all started really when they were almost fourteen. That stage where everyone decides they are 'mature enough to date.' Yep, Kuro is Akemi's boyfriend. When they first started going out, Ariana was a little suspicious of Kuro (And she often tells him that she still is), so she kept her distance. After much begging from Akemi, she agreed to go to a movie with them one night. And that pretty much sealed the deal. Kuro and Ari got along incredibly well; discovering they had the same taste in almost everything. She was perfectly happy to let him come along when they got together after that night, and soon Kuro became her friend too. Now they do heaps of stuff together, and their group of three just works; none of them are the awkward third friend. Ariana still likes to tease Kuro though, and often says to Akemi, 'Can you take him back to whatever trashcan you found him in?'
