This song represents that as it talks about how the king had lost his kingdom and was now left alone to fend for himself. He lost his name, his title, his everything. King in follows along with this view, however, overall the stallion is a shining light of his own yet to be discovered and the song does touch on this "light" even though it is faint. The stallion, despite his pessimistic tendencies appreciates what he has but can't help looking at what others have, which the song implies.
