• wanted to be a movie star as a kit
• was impressively bad at delivering lines, so gave up on that
• has been swimming since she was little, and taught herself to free dive in the surrounding ocean to look for pearls
• the stellarium aquarium, a small venue in the city, had recently started a mermaid show when their mermaid broke a leg
• they quickly discovered that the backup safety team had zero showmanship and grace
• nerina applied to be a backup mermaid on a dare, and ended up getting the job
• she started bringing the aquarium more earnings than ever before, and was quickly promoted to be the primary performer
• works with a local dance instructor to create her routines
• can hold her breath for up to three minutes while performing, more if staying still
• v overprotective of her mermaid tail bc it's incredibly expensive and talking the stellarium into getting an upgrade from the cheap fabric one was a pain
