Task #1: Gaining Trust
I'm flying over sea, amongst the clouds on my Stormcutter, Cafrine. It's only the afternoon and never to late for a ride. Lets land over there!, I nearly yell over the wind and flapping of Cafrines wings. Pointing at a seastack cafrine goes dives down nearly meeting face with the seastack. I hug my arms around her neck as she dives, her phenomenal speed amazing me. Cafrine lays down against a tree while im sprawled out next to her staring at the sky. In the distance is a loud screech of a dragon, most likely a thunderdrum, but it's unlike any dragon screech i'v heard. Cafrine, as startled as I am, nudges me to get up. I quickly rise to my feet and climb onto Cafrines back. She takes off towards the sound roaring as she goes to get the attention of the dragon. Cafrine comes to a stop after a long time flying there, over water, staring, only a distance away from a Thunderdrum. Its fighting something. I hold my hands over my ears blocking out its screech. I immediately find out that the Thunderdrum if fighting off another Thunderdrum. Why is it being so aggressive to its own kind? Cafrine uncontrollably shot across the Thunderdrums, their focus now on me and Cafrine. The aggressive thunderdrum quickly approached me and sent out a sound blast. Lucky me, I had my ears tightly covered, not thoroughly but mostly protecting my ears from damage. Cafrine! Fire! I yelled. Cafrine sent out a blazing torus of fire towards the Thunderdrum, scaring it backwards. The Thunderdrum dove underwater and later blasted out of the water with a screech, it fled to a seastack and collapsed there. The other Thunderdrum though seemed to be long gone. Slowly, and as quietly Cafrine flew over to the same seastack and landed behind it. I slid off of my dragons back slowly, leaving my weapons and Cafrine behind. Slowly I approached the Thunderdrum, getting a better view at its pattern. It kind of had a monarch pattern on its wings and back wings. Its overall body was shades of green. I slowly whispered It'll be alright... It being startled it turned around completely and made a shot at me, I knew it would happen. Luckily I had my hands over my ears quickly. I still had taken effect over the blast, but that didnt seem to matter right now. I wanted to tame this Thunderdrum, I want to be friends. On its left wing it seemed to have taken affect on the blast Cafrine had did. I raced back to my dragon, the Thunderdrum only wanting to kill me. I pulled out some bandages and a few leaves from when I went leaf collecting earlier today with Cafrine. Cafrine roared, I was touching the leaves she gathered, Pleeasee Cafrinee? What's better, saving a dragon? or leaves? Cafrine grunted and rolled her eyes. I grabbed the bandages and a few leaves and raced back to the dragon, slowing my speed when it came in sight. Before it could shoot at me I dropped the bandages and leaves in front of it. It sniffed them and I slowly took them back. I gently held its wing in my palm examining the bruises. Slowly I unraveled a wad of bandages. I first laid some leaves overtop the bruises before wrapping its wing with bandages. The whole time the Thunderdrum watched me, ready to fire at me with a killing shot. Slowly I stood up into a kneeling position and put out my hand slowly, turning away, not ready to watch it eat my hand. The Thunderdrum nuzzled its nose into my hand and licked me. I smiled, my heart beating rapidly. Yes! I tamed it! I can wait to show Cafrine her new friend! I said to myself. Ortelio... I muttered close to the Thunderdrum. I raced back to Cafrine and motioned her to follow me. Cafrine raced behind me meeting up with the Thunderdrum. It growled and glared at Cafrine. Woah woah woah.. Easy there... That's Cafrine. I mounted Cafrine and flew away from the seastack, not going as high up. I turned around my dragon as she lightly dove at Ortelio picking him up slowly with her feet. We had a slow flight back to berk. By then it was nighttime. We stopped at Stoick's house to tell him what was up. I dropped off the thunderdrum in a stable to begin training him tomorrow. I raced back to my house to my parents. They were worried sick about me. I told them about what happened and they were "Ok..." well, slightly ok... I plopped into my bed and clutched the covers, Cafrine curling up next to my bed.
