- Arise always knew her daughter was strange. The child never cried when the others did. She never really had her first smile. Her first laugh seemed a bit forced. As a baby she used to take her sisters' toys without caring as they burst into tears. She would always start fights with her sister and then afterward return to an emotionless face, not feeling a bit of remorse while she cried. Garnet herself also never cried. She screamed in fits of rage, but never really cried. She was such a strange child. As she got older she found herself going from fits of anger to being ridiculously rational and charming as well as hanging out with Lil, the taxidermist and Ember, the pyromaniac. The three of them were never a good group to see around. Garnet entertained herself by hurting and killing animals, as Arise made her learn that hurting kalons was not okay. So she'd kill the occasional squirrel or bird. Injure large animals once in a while. Sometimes she'd come home with her fur mostly red. Arise just kind of had to accept that her daughter was not going to be okay. Around the age of eight a child psychologist suggested Garnet may be showing early signs of psychopathic behaviors. It was seemingly pretty obvious at how often she lied, manipulated, hurt different things, but Arise was still shocked because afterall, it is her child.
