Mackenzie suffers from Gender Dysphoria, or Gender Identity Disorder and has never felt connected to his biological birth gender of female. He now identifies as male but has to wait till he is older to get the proper transition.

Some info on Mackenzie
The last baby of Sensu and Cat, a little blessing in her father's eyes. His dream of having three daughters has come true. Mackenzie was born happy and healthy and came out with a smile on her face.
The name was decided upon by both parents, Mackenzie being Sensu's wish and Meredith being Cat's. After they brought their newborn home, they introduced her to the rest of the family, her father extremely proud.

At the age of two, Mackenzie was able to talk in good, yet slightly slurred, sentences. Over the time of her being able to talk, Sensu was dressing her daughter at a family outing and to his surprise, his daughter said, "Noo! I wan' wear what t' boys are wear!" He was dressing her in a fine Sunday dress, Simon, Sensu's great friend, was wearing a suit.
Later, the complaints kept pilling up, Sensu's precious young daughter was crying and claiming that she was not a she and wanted to be treated like the other boys, she didn't want to wear dresses like her sisters, she wanted to play soccer with her uncle and wear suits.

The complaints continued and grew worse as Mackenzie aged, and at the age of six, to Sensu's dismay, he finally accepted the fact that his beloved daughter was not his daughter, but was his son.
Now at the age of eight, Mackenzie identifies fully as a boy and wants to grow up being a track star.
