The masquerades are malevolent spirits possess mortal simas and take over their bodies during the night.
Mephistopheles thought Cassandra needed to stop being so uptight and boring. “Live a little, why don’t you,” is what he told her. And if that means he gets to go on a rampage at night, well, all the better for him. In their masquerade form Cassandra and Mephistopheles (Cassandra likes to call him Flea) are easily angered and quick to lash out. (Both minds inhabit one body at all times, at night they just change shape and the masquerade gains control of their body. It makes for some pretty interesting conversation.)
Right Side Markings
The rune on her left shoulder means "possession" and the rune on her right hip means "grave." Her claws are meant to look like they have glowing flames in the tips.
