CrownTail Event - #02

There are three main tasks you must complete in order to tame and care for your new crownie. If these tasks are not completed by December 1st, your crownie will be rehomed.

The task can either be drawn or written, and must be posted on your adopted crownie's page. Written tasks need to be a minimum of 250 words long, while drawn tasks must include color.

Everything must be done by you and cannot be ordered by someone else.

Task #1 - Introduction

Upon meeting your new crownie, its obvious they will need some time to adjust to being in your stables. Get to know them and their behaviors, and try to gain their trust the best you can.

Task #2 - General Care

Your crownie has been neglected as far as specialty care. They need a good feeding, washing, and trimming to improve their attitude. Scrub off the gunk and condition their coats, and dont forget to trim their hooves, teeth, and fins. As for dinner, a nice juicy steak sounds pretty good...or whatever you have lying around at the moment.

Task #3 - Breaking In The Saddle
These crownies have never been ridden or introduced to any kind of tack before. Show your new companion that its not so bad, and take them out for a good trail ride.

Introduction

(Show Name: Flight Of Sorrows
Barn Name: Ifrit
Height: 13.2
Gender: Stallion)

I watched my new addition with careful eyes as he wandered the schooling ring I had assigned as his temporary home while he got used to the yard and it's many inhabitants. Some of which were coming forward to gaze at the CrownTail with unguarded curiosity. The poor guy looked so tense and unhappy so I stood up and shooed them all off, ignoring the sullen behavior of the younger ones.

"Go on get!" I shouted and flapped my hands at them. They gave me disdainful looks and wandered away. I sighed and turned my attention back to the stallion who had relaxed now and was investigating the gate. "Poor guy, I know that feeling. I prefer meeting a few at a time not so many of them at once" I mused aloud, more to myself than to him. Still I seemed to get his attention and his ears pricked as those eerily beautiful lilac eyes focused on me for a moment before he turned back to the gate. "No you can't escape via the gate" I laughed as he gave it an experimental push with his nose. The stallion seemed displeased with the objects refusal to budge as he turned his back on it and moved in my direction.

His bright eyes caught me once again as he stared me down, I merely raised an eyebrow and waited. The stallion huffed and stood his ground, staring right back at me. We stood like this for a long moment before he walked over and touched his nose to my right hand.

"Atta boy" I said quietly and rubbed his nose.

General Care

Postby Queen Vivane » Mon Nov 16, 2015 10:45 pm

The hose was on a gentle setting and I slowly sprayed my Crownie with water. Unlike some of my other rescues, he seemed to be enjoying the bath so far, standing with his eyes half closed as the water loosened up the grime and gunge on his coat. After a while I slowly moved the tap and switched off the hose; before grabbing the sponge out of the bucket of warm soapy water and gently beginning to scrub off the dirt and grime.

Sure enough under all the grime and muck was a stunning coat that steadily began to gleam as more and more dirt was scrubbed away, Surprisingly my CrownTail seemed to be only a little overgrown in fin and hoof, alongside being skinny enough to be borderline unhealthy. Grabbing the hose once more, I rinsed off the soap and gently applied some stuff to help his skin stay healthy.

Checking my list of essential things to know, I scanned it and located what Crownies enjoyed eating.

"Steak huh? Good thing I have a lot of those around" I muttered and switched of the hose before leading him off to the resident blacksmith. He stood quietly but I still stood by his head and spoke quietly to him while his hooves were trimmed and shod. Afterwards I merely led him to his stall and after firmly securing the door, went to fetch my crownie a nice juicy steak. Good thing I had a regular supply of meat coming in each week.

A nice new feed bucket waited in the storage room, the steak and various chunks of meat were swiftly deposited into it and then taken to my finned stallions stall.

Breaking In The Saddle

Postby Queen Vivane » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:16 pm

I blew strands of raven black hair out of my eyes as I carried the saddle toward the outdoor schooling ring. This was not going to be an easy task, it barely ever was. A sigh escaped my lips. Getting my handsome CrownTail to accept a saddle was going to take time. Still, it would be worth it.

I gently set the saddle on the fence and took a moment to appreciate the gentle warmth of the early morning sunshine bathing my skin with its rays. Shaking my head to clear away the warmth induced fuzz I moved toward the area of lake where I had last seen the handsome stallion splashing about in. I arrived to see no sign of my CrownTail, I huffed and whistled a sharp clear note. A few moments a series alerted me to the approach of the fighting quid. He nickered affectionately and nudged my face with his warm nose.

"So that's where you've been. Off in the distance up to no good eh?" I laughed and patted his neck.

Turning away, I walked back in the direction of the schooling ring, the faint thud of hoof steps behind me as I walked signaled that my Crownie was following. In no time at all we'd reached the ring and entered together. He stopped in the middle of the ring, watching as I strode over to the edge and eased the saddle up off the fence.

"Now, I'm betting you aren't much going to like this but it has to happen" I told him bluntly and slowly approached him with the saddle. He didn't back away, opting to simply watch, curiosity in his pale lilac eyes. I stopped beside him and lifted the saddle preparing to gently settle it on his back. Surprisingly he stayed very still not even moving when I place the saddle on his back even adjusting it so it sat correctly and loosely doing up the girth.

"Well what's the verdict?" I asked, head titled to one side as I observed the splash marked stallion. He turned his head and gave the saddle a curious sniff before biting down on the right flap. "Oy!" I yelped in horror and attempted to make him let go of the leather. He must have found me amusing as he let go and whinnied in a way that sounded suspiciously like laughter. "Pest" I hissed in response and set about tightening the girth before sending him off for a warm up around the ring.

After a few shakes and a quickly foiled attempt to roll, he was smoothly trotting ignoring the saddle upon his back. I could only hope he wouldn't attempt to throw me when I sat upon his back.
