CrownTail Event - #01

There are three main tasks you must complete in order to tame and care for your new crownie. If these tasks are not completed by December 1st, your crownie will be rehomed.

The task can either be drawn or written, and must be posted on your adopted crownie's page. Written tasks need to be a minimum of 250 words long, while drawn tasks must include color.

Everything must be done by you and cannot be ordered by someone else.

Task #1 - Introduction

Upon meeting your new crownie, its obvious they will need some time to adjust to being in your stables. Get to know them and their behaviors, and try to gain their trust the best you can.

Task #2 - General Care

Your crownie has been neglected as far as specialty care. They need a good feeding, washing, and trimming to improve their attitude. Scrub off the gunk and condition their coats, and dont forget to trim their hooves, teeth, and fins. As for dinner, a nice juicy steak sounds pretty good...or whatever you have lying around at the moment.

Task #3 - Breaking In The Saddle
These crownies have never been ridden or introduced to any kind of tack before. Show your new companion that its not so bad, and take them out for a good trail ride.

Task One: Introductions

Postby Good.Pointe » Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:15 pm

As the herd of Crowntails ran in, I looked in awe. One seemed to catch my eye. A little stallion, a black tobiano from what I could see. He was very nervous and jumpy as I loaded him in the trailer to take him home. Once we arrived, I let him loose in a pasture where I could easily monitor him. He cantered out to the center of the pasture, goosing his back as he moved. I named him 'Watch Me Move' aka 'Goose' because of this. He was very jumpy, which was very understandable. One of the barn cats, Jinx, was curious about this new arrival, and slipped under the fence to meet him. At first, Goose was scared of Jinx, but he calmed down after a minute or two to see about this strange, black, short, and fluffy animal. He sniffed Jinx and accidentally touched him with his nose, and sneezed from the tickle. The next day, I went out to the pasture to see him, and found him lying in the shelter with Jinx. He got up and cantered away when he saw me, but I stayed still, keeping my head down and my body relaxed, and held my hands behind me. He walked around me, slightly afraid and slightly curious. A dog was barking from inside the barn, and he reared up. He didn't seem to like dogs at all. He tended to nod his head as he moved and whenever he was done eating anything, he'd suck on his upper lip. His eyes were always very lively. I got him into the corral and stood in the center, keeping a calm and low posture, and letting him sniff and push me around to prove that I was harmless to him. He approached a little nervously and slowly. I let him mess with my hair. He touched my hand with his nose and backed away, then started to gallop around the corral. "Easy boy, it's okay, I won't hurt you." I said softly to him. "My sweet Goosey, I promise it's safe." I walked slowly to the standing and panting underweight Crowntail stallion. I held my hand out and stood a few feet away, keeping my eyes on him. He got a bit confident and walked forward cautiously. He sniffed my right hand, and I slowly pet his dirt-covered face. He calmed a little, soothed by the petting. I started to hum a song and he closed his eyes, relaxed to the sound of humming. He liked music, and tended to relax to the sound of it. He was a very sweet stallion, despite what he's been through. He was a bit head shy, and hated when you walked behind him. He seemed very social and curious. But I noticed that he hated tight spaces. He would take some work, but I had hope for him.

480 words, this guy looks like my friends horse irl (named Goose) so I kinda based his personality off him. The only picture I own is of Goose, the others were found on google so therefore I do not own them.

Task Two: General Care

Postby Good.Pointe » Wed Oct 28, 2015 8:34 am

I got a bucket for Goose and filled it with 1 1/2 scoops of specialty feed, which would help him gain a bit more weight. I set down the bucket and got a halter and lead to catch him. As he ate his feed, I slowly slipped his halter on and let him finish his feed. After he ate, I led him to a wash stall and gathered all of my brushes. I turned on some warm water and started hosing off his legs, getting some of the dirt off. I moved up to his barrel and girth area, which he seemed to enjoy a lot. The dirt was coming off in clumps, but his coat still had a lot of mud stuck on it. I moved up to his back and withers. The close I got to his face, the more he seemed to get impatient. As I moved to his neck, he threw his head up and stomped his feet. I eased the hose pressure, pulled gently down on his head, and washed it off as best I could. I got some coat shampoo and lathered him up, more mud coming up into the soap as I lathered him up more and more, turning the once white shampoo into a dark brown color. I hosed him off once more, his black and white coat now showing. I used a sweat scraper to get the rest of the extra water off of him, toweled him to be damp, and got my curry comb. I curried in fast, small, tight circles, loosening up some of the dirt and shedding hair from his undercoat. He loved his belly curried and even leaned into it as I brushed. I picked up my dandy brush and brushed off the hair and dirt that was loosened up. I went over with a soft brush, putting his hair back into place and brushing his face and legs. I carefully picked up his feet and picked them out, being very gentle with his sensitive lower legs and hooves. I washed his fins and got some clippers and hoof trimmers. I let him get used to the sound of the clippers. He was a bit spooked, yet curious by the clippers. I slowly and carefully trimmed his fins. I let him smell the hoof trimmers to prove they were not going to hurt him. I trimmed his hooves and let him walk around to get used to it. I got my equipment to float his teeth and had my sister hold him for me. She pet him to keep him calm so I could easily float his teeth and let him run around in his pasture to get used to his trimmed feet and teeth. I turned him loose and let him run in his pasture.
