How did they get the goggles?; Jax is one of the Zvers that crashed in the ship. During the chaos, he ended up in a very small patch of woods surrounded by houses. He was wounded, hungry and alone. His only means of survival was raiding the trash of the nearby houses though that often resulted in being chased off by angry humans and dogs. His wounds and lack of nutrition soon took it's toll and he became weak and lethargic. One day, a young man was walking through the woods and stumbled upon Jax. Instead of turning the Zver over, the young man waited until dark to carry Jax to his garage. He fed Jax ground meat and calcium powder until he had regained enough strength to crunch through bone. It was still a while, however, until Jax would be able to take care of himself. They grew close to each other and the young man would often tell the Zver of his day despite thinking he was just a dumb beast. One day, a neighbor walked into the garage through a side door to borrow a tool without permission and spotted the zver. The neighbor, believing the government's propaganda, ran from the home screaming. The young man heard this and ran to the garage, seeing the side door open and immediately knowing what had happened. It was time to go. He quickly threw together supplies in a knapsack before coaxing Jackson into the side car of his motorcycle. The young man covered Jax with a blanket then got in, starting to drive. He didn't stop, except to refill the gas tank, until nightfall. That was when he pulled over and let the zver out to stretch and use the bathroom. Coaxing him back into the sidecar, he gave Jax a pair of goggle to protect his eyes and sensors then started driving again. Once out on an abandoned logging road, the young man let Jax out for the last time. There was a tearful goodbye from the young man and the Zver, sensing the humans immense sadness, tried to project a sense of warmth and understanding despite failed attempts to communicate before. They finally parted ways, the zver heading into the woods while the youth drove to a new city to start over his life. He had forgotten to take back his goggles from Jackson and Jackson kept them as a token of their friendship.
