personality
call them whatever, sonny is a courteous, well-mannered character whose motives are never really clear. they are the kind of person who will open doors for you, pick up the pen you dropped by accident, even return your full wallet with all the money and cards intact if they just so happen to discover it. their habits of staying clean and tidy, however, doesn't mean they will let themself be used. sonny always watches behind their back, lest anyone try to take advantage of them, but they do have difficulties when it comes to saying no.
their polite nature is a tree that came from the seed of discipline. as a young pup, although they were never physically abused, they were always watched by their parents, told to clean their room, prepare everything themselves, stand tall, and not complain. basically, they were told to be quiet, swift, and functional; they had no room for any else. as much as they hated it, they put up with it till they were old enough to live alone. their habits of being constantly on edge to keep everything organized leads them to crying easily when they make mistakes in front of others. they get... anxious, whenever things just don't end up the way they planned, and their defense mechanic is to immediately try to fix the situation -- they panic if they can't get it right.
when sonny panics, they tend to need someone to hold them, because their worry usually gets so overwhelming that they aren't aware of it enough to get it resolved quickly. they always remind themselves to breathe, calm down, because that's really all they could do.
pokemon team
sonny mainly trains water/dark/electric types and has a luxray named elanor for their first pokemon.

elanor // luxray // female // lvl 78 // rivalry
elanor was sonny's first pokemon, and most likely their favorite one too even if they won't admit to it. they remember when they first got her, handed over a pokeball containing the excitable level five shinx who immediately bonded with sonny. the two of them immediately began training against wild pokemon, and although sonny chose to level her periodically, they spent enough time to see elanor a well seventy-three levels stronger now than when they first began. she's no contest pokemon, though, being sonny's number one fighter instead. still, sonny loves her nonetheless, often feeling sentimental about when they first got her and being tempted to feed her an extra few pokepuffs.

maximoff // greninja // male // lvl 75 // torrent
who doesn't love a shiny? perhaps that was what sonny first thought when they caught maximoff, thinking of themself as lucky to have him in their team. he was actually a later addition to the team, but was trained up fast because of it. it's a good thing max is battle-hungry and loves a good fight, because he was quickly introduced to high-intensity grinding and constantly being pitted against other pokemon... and yet, he strongly enjoys it, growing up hardy and strong. he's a lot tougher than elanor sometimes, since he's so used to battling and actually loves it.

raine // lanturn // female // lvl 73 // volt absorb
raine started out as a chinchou sonny curiously caught, seeing as she had quite the unique type combo. her name came from how it was raining when sonny caught it. points for creativity much? she was their second pokemon and was level up somewhat slowly, much like elanor was. she's also sonny's surf and dive pokemon, meaning the two of them do spend a lot of time underwater looking for all sorts of new pokemon. she's a friendlier type of pokemon, one who sonny loves spending time with and even swimming with sometimes, although raine enjoys knocking sonny over and overwhelm them with continuous waves.

crusade // swampert // male // lvl 75 // torrent
crusade was obtained by sonny when they were entrusted with an egg by someone they met during their travels. the mudkip, oddly enough, never started off seeing sonny as a parent or even a caretaker, often being disobedient to the point where sonny was almost ready to crush his pokeball. luckily, they were able to work together despite the grudge, and by the time crusade became a marshtomp they were on much better terms. nowadays, sonny uses crusade in battle often thanks to his ground typing and earthquake move. they have only just received the needed mega stone to mega evolve the mighty swampert, and enjoy doing so too.

jagger // sharpedo // male // lvl 70 // rough skin
jagger's name is... interesting applied to his personality. sonny really feels fond of this one pokemon, probably because of his rough exterior [ literally ] and how tough he looks when the reality behind all that is that he's even more loving than a goldfish. the clumsy, shy sharpedo is a monster in battle, but besides that? he's pretty much reduced to being the definitive model of the term 'gentle giant.' he's a sweetheart who somehow takes enjoyment from scaring other when he's gotten over his initial fear of them, although that's something a haunter would more likely do and not a sharpedo like him. he's a rough-and-tumble bundle of love covered in thorns, as sonny would describe him to be.

claude // absol // male // lvl 74 // super luck
claude, being a pure dark type, quite well stands out in the team even with elanor also being a quadruped pokemon in the team. holding an absolite, claude is a pokemon who enjoys battling as it is but will usually spend more of his time with his trainer by just being a pet. he enjoys being pampered and having his fur brushed. sonny first found him in the mountains, and found the disaster pokemon too tempting not to catch. like any, claude struggled in the first few moments of being introduced to his new trainer, but they got along quickly afterwards, and although he's the last in the team, he gets a fair share of fighting too.
story
The rules dictated that should two trainers meet eyes, a battle was issued. However, the three parties thought the same thing: the rule didn't count when all of them were looking to heal their Pokémon teams. The three trainers looked nothing alike; one with his striking yellow fur had his party healed and was sitting on a seat near the Pokémon Center exit with his Pokéballs rested safely on his belt; one was anxiously waiting as the Nurse Joy began to heal their team, gritting their teeth as they flicked their sleek aquatic blue tail; the last one awaiting her turn to do the same thing and heal as she looked on with the fiery glint in her eyes reflected in her bright appearance.
By the time the sleek blue trainer had retrieved their now-healed Pokémon, they accidentally bumped into the trainer behind them. The look of horror in their eyes as they looked at her did not fathom how they really felt, fear struck them hard. They immediately bowed their apologies and skittered towards the seat near the other wolf, shuddering as they adjusted their Pokéballs on their belt. "It's okay, Sonny," they whispered, only just loud enough for the trainer clad in yellow to hear. He looked at the fearful blue wolf, wondering what had happened. Meanwhile, the female wolf stood at the counter and handed her team to the Nurse, glancing almost disapprovingly at the interaction between the other two. She averted her eyes from them and tapped her feet impatiently, hinting her need to hurry to the Nurse who was already doing her best to help heal the team she had.
Now the yellow wolf still said nothing, instead looking at his watch and pretending that he was busy and made attempts not to look at the troubled Sonny who was trying to contain themselves. It was, more or less, a rather awkward situation. Besides the Nurse, the trio was the only one in the Center, until the orange-furred trainer took back her healed team and left the place. Sonny, once they had regained themself, also walked outside, followed by the yellow wolf, whose name was Thunders. They then separated, seemingly going to different places. Nuria the flame-colored trainer went to one route, Sonny to another, and Thunders took a look around the town he was in; Viridian city. Neither of the three seemed interested in going to see the gym, probably because of their already strong teams. Maybe they had each beaten the gym in their own time. While time passed, they began to see each other more often during the day. Both Sonny and Nuria kept coming back to the Center in order to heal their training Pokémon while Thunders spent some time fishing, and then merely walking near the trees that enclosed the city. Such went by as Sonny returned to the Center and met Nuria again, and this time Nuria was the one who accidentally bumped shoulders with them. Still, being the rude and hotheaded trainer she was, she brushed off the shaken blue wolf one more, leaving them wondering if it was them or her who did something wrong.
When the sun was about to set, the three surprisingly met all at once again, going to the Pokémart together, presumably to purchase supplies. First came Nuria who walked with a confident air that neither of the other two had. Then came Thunders, whose posture was that of a quiet and skilled trainer, and last and quite admittedly least in terms of bravery was the skittish Sonny who walked on two legs that trembled like stilts. They were nervous as they had glimpsed Thunders walk in as well as thought of the probability that Nuria was there too. Of course, they didn't know the names of these two trainers yet, which made it all the more intimidating. Still, Sonny took a breath and decided that they needed supplies and it simply wouldn't do to wait till the other two trainers had finished picking out their purchases. They went inside just as Nuria had her supplies stuffed in her bag, but instead of saying anything disapproving, she walked off to one side as if she was waiting for the other two. Thunders was seemingly oblivious to this, or simply didn't wan to say anything on the matter and instead picked out what he needed. To both Nuria and Sonny, his voice was not what they expected as he told the cashier what he needed; they hadn't heard him speak before this. Thunders paid the cashier and then turned to walk out, but realized how Nuria was still waiting. Sonny, now rendered nervous again, walked up front to order while being deathly aware of the other two trainers’ eyes watching them.
When they were all finished, Sonny looked at Nuria who was the one to have started the behavior of waiting. They stammered while they asked her, “W-why did you wait f-for me?” They would have slapped themself for the outrageously shy voice they had spoken in, but it was too late. She turned on him and Sonny could have sworn they were better off flying away, if only they had a Pokémon to do it with, rather than to listen to what the flaring trainer had to say. She looked like she was between emotions herself. “I... I just thought since you looked strong, maybe we could battle!” The ending to her sentence surprised Sonny, but Thunders quietly spoke before they could do so themself. “Perhaps you might want to battle me first.” His monotone challenge, directed at Nuria, was what she looked like the was taking as an insult more than a challenge. Three trainers in front of a Pokémart, and all ready to begin their battle.
Little did they know a trip to the Pokécenter and a small conversation later, those battles were going to change the course of their adventures together.
