It was close, very close. He was in a jump off during a Showjumping competition with two other riders, the set in stone finalists. He would have succeeded, he cold have succeeded yet he was distracted, distracted by a beautiful mare batting her eyes at him. He lost concentration and clipped a pole on a jump, earning him a second place ribbon. After rather sourly he pepped himself up and went looking for the mare, only to find her swooning over his rival and the victor. He soon learnt from his best friend that the mare was his rival's mate and that she had been sent throughout the competition to flirt with competing geldings and stallions ensuring her mate be the winner of all his classes. He has now sworn to never let a flirty mare distract him in competitions, outside maybe but not while he's jumping.
