Dunalino #030

Postby CertainNorth » Sun Jul 19, 2015 3:29 pm

This coat is a bit of a rare one for AIWPs (cream + dun), so for this contest, make one extra item about how they got their name. It can be in the form of art, a very short story, a poem, or a song + a short description. If you have another idea or aren't sure, just ask ^^

Show Name; A Golden Martyr
Barn Name; Kanchanprabha // Kip
Gender; Mare
Height; 14hh
Story;
    Kanchanprabha, the golden one.

She'd travelled to a myriad of places around the world with her owner, but Kip's favourite place had been India.

She was bought as a young filly, barely 6 months old, and was soon to learn that travelling was magnificent. She stayed, until she was a yearling, in a small paddock next to an equally small cottage in Ireland. Her owner was not wealthy, but always did her best to care for Kip, sometimes even sacrificing money for her own food in favour of her beloved pony. Kip loved her owner and trusted her with anything.

One day, Kip's owner came out to see her, offering the usual piece of potato, but soon after a strange truck appeared. Kip was confused as to what was happening, but trusted her owner and followed where she went. They arrived at a large open area, and Kip was loaded onto a strange metal vehicle that looked like a bird - obviously a plane.

They arrived many hours later at a loud and bustling place, and Kip was immediately assaulted by a barrage of scents and sights, as well as many groping hands that touched her and pulled her tail. She was quite dirty and sweaty after the long flight, and just wanted to be back home. Kip let out a lot of nervous nickers and pigroots while her owner hurried her away down little streets and through the golden yellow town to an open desert landscape.

Kip was well worn out by the time her owner stopped them at a humble farm with old fences and scraggy bushes. The dust whirled across the ground as a breeze blew by, and Kip shook her matted coat. A bunch of horses, all with lovely dipped faces, greeted her from their holding yards. Kip hadn't seen many horses, and her eyes couldn't believe the exotic beauty of the fine horses before her.

Snapped back to reality, her owner talked with someone who appeared from the house, and a group of 5 people emerged and came up to Kip, talking excitedly. She snorted and pricked her ears, unsure of the people who patted her neck and shoulders.

She accepted their strokes and was lead over to a post where she was tied and brushed down vigorously. Never before had it felt so good to be rid of the dirt and sweat on her coat. As the people groomed her, they let out murmurs, nudging each other and her owner. Kip became more confused as they beckoned towards her and said the same word over and over, "Kanchanprabha, Kanchanprabha." Her owner was smiling, and Kip thought this was a good sign - smiling meant happiness to humans.

Her owner came closer and talked to Kip while she stroked her forehead and cheek, and she too repeated the word, Kanchanprabha. Kip turned to scratch her belly and saw that her coat shone in the afternoon sun, shimmering like sunlight on water.

"Your name is Kanchanprabha," her owner said, "The golden one."
Oh gosh, sorry for the dodgy writing, but I hope the idea comes across in the limited amount of words I had!

Extra-
'ere was once a horse,
with a very strong force,
and a will as golden as 'is coat.

'is eyes lit on fire
as the day would expire
and the battle was about to begin.

O'er the hills he would fly,
the sparks hitting the sky,
as 'is horseshoes struck the ground.

With 'is lil' rider on back,
he would hear with a crack,
as the crop would push him faster.

He charged into battle,
it seemed nothing else would matter,
the lil' horse took charge.

With the fear of his peers,
he never did disappear,
but to lead them through the night.

Now the battle had been won,
but many of them were done,
but not this pony, my friend.

With the fire in his eyes,
and his lil' surprise,
he would never give in til' the end.

Extra; The stallions golden coat seemed to glow the midday heat, he stood under his shelter in the paddock staring longingly towards the paddock gate and the lock that held it closed. He lifted his head and pricked his ears forward as he scanned the area for his owners, no one in sight - now was his chance. He trotted towards the gate tail flagging in pride, he halted at the gate gracefully lowering his head to the latch and placed his mouth around it carefully. With a few small movements and adjustment the gate sprung free, he once again checked for his owners before nudging the gate open and trotting to freedom - otherwise known as the feed room.

And that was the day that the escape artist became known

She looks so cute oh my gosh! You did an awesome job

Show Name; W&F Sunny Side Up.
    Barn Name; Sunshine.
    Gender; Mare.
    Height; 12.3 Hands.
    Extra;
Here is a short story about how Sunshine got her name, and another
short story about how she got her show name.
The owners of Sunshine's mother were worried sick about their mare,
for they didn't understand how she had gotten the foal, and if she would make it.
Every day of that Fall it had been cloudy, chilly and damp, and Sunshine's mother
    was feeling quite ill.
Then one day, the first day of Spring, the sun showed itself for the first time.
And on this day, this lil' dunalino filly was born in the open pasture, her wet coat glistening in the
sun. "She has brought us the sun, and glows like sunshine.
Her name is Sunshine!" And from that day on, they had an entire week of sunshine!

And here is the story of how she got her show name:
When Sunshine became a mare, her owners decided to break her in.
Lil' Sunshine was a bit timid at first, but it didn't take long before she would
let somebody ride her bareback. One day, the owners decided
it was time to put a saddle on Sunshine's back. As the man got Sunshine, his wife cooked his breakfast,
a soft boiled egg. When the man came back with Sunshine, his wife gave him his breakfast, but before he
could eat, Sunshine threw the plate away with her nose! So the
wife went back and made a hard boiled egg instead. Again when the man was about to eat, Sunshine tossed her head and knocked the plate out of his hands. Now the wife was getting tired and irritated, and quickly made a egg, sunny side up. When the man took his plate, Sunshine didn't toss her head, but instead ate the egg!
And that's how Sunshine got her show name, Sunny Side Up.
