Full Name:
Roshan (Persian, "Shining Light") Zaher (Arabic, "clear, knowing")

Gender:
trans male (he/him)

Growing up, Roshan knew from early on that he was transgender. Beginning around age 5, Roshan became vocal at his discomfort with being forced into a feminine gender role and expression. At age 7, he started researching and questioning things with the help of his parents. Roshan has always considered himself lucky that his parents were so accepting and ready to help him as he discovered himself. Given that Roshan's parents are both successful doctors, his family had plenty of money to afford the proper care for a transgender child. Roshan began hormone blockers at age 12, and began testosterone at age 16. He had top surgery at age 20, and does not want to get bottom surgery.
Roshan's mother and father are supportive of their son, but do not try to shield or defend him from discrimination from more distant family members. His parents believe that he must develop a "tough skin" in order to deal with adversity in life, worried that they had babied him too much during his younger years. Roshan's extended family is a mixed bag. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins are very accepting, one younger cousin also being transgender. Other members are not so accepting. Roshan's grandparents on his mother's side have cut off communication with the family. Roshan's grandmother on his father's side is supportive, but his grandfather, before his death, was vehemently outspoken about his outrage at the idea that one of his descendants could be transgender.
When Roshan was 18, his 10 year old cousin, Wheaton, came out to him as being transgender as well. With the help of his parents, Roshan assisted Wheaton in coming out to his dad and providing resources on how to adjust to the transition.

Sexual/Romantic Orientation:
Pansexual, Homoromantic

Roshan is only interested in pursuing romantic relationships with men or masculine-presenting nonbinary people.

Human Race + Other Demographics:
Lebanese

Roshan's mother and father are both full-blooded Lebanese people. His grandparents on both sides are Muslim. His parents, not overly religious themselves, never had Roshan initiated into the community, for they believed that he could make the decision for himself as an adult if he were interested. Roshan, currently, has no interest in religion for himself but is not bothered by others who are religious.

Body Type:
5' 10", 210 lbs

Roshan stands at a pretty average height, not too short and not too tall. Roshan is noticeably chubby, and has a rounder face. As a child, he was picked on for his weight by his peers, which caused him great distress, as most of his dysphoria stemmed from insecurities about his appearance. Into adulthood and after transitioning, his self esteem towards his body weight continues to be a sore spot. Though he is pretty happy with himself physically, he dreads overhearing comments similar to those shot towards him as a child. Roshan avoids swimming and activities that require him to be shirtless around strangers. He is most comfortable with himself in his home. If his cousin or close friends are over, his comfort level remains the same, as he trusts them.
Roshan has tan skin. He tans instead of burns, but because of his job requires him to be indoors and his lack of interest in outdoor activities, he rarely ever gets darker than his usual look.
Roshan has sparse, stray freckles on his body. He has scars on his chest from top surgery.
Roshan's hair is naturally brown. He's got a lil beardy thing on his chin. He dyes the hair on his head bright pink, and keeps it fairly long and in his face. His hair is straight and sticks up easily if he does not brush it in the morning. By the end of the day, his hair will be a bit wild-looking anyway, so sometimes he doesn't bother neatening it.
Roshan's eyes are a bit bigger than others', and he keeps his eyebrows fairly thick. He enjoys wearing makeup in the form of pink marks on his cheeks, shaped like a circle and a "v," and lime green lipstick, a gift from one of his first patients. Roshan smiles a lot, and when he's older he'll have laugh lines.

Age:
28 years

Birthdate:
June 7th

Occupation:
Medical student, intern/resident at local hospital

Roshan has been in 4 years of undergrad studies, four years of medical school, and is in his second year of residency. He aims to be a full-time surgeon at current hospital and, later in life, move on to be a plastic surgeon specializing in transgender surgeries. The hospital he works at is understaffed due to budget cuts so he often has to take up the responsibilities of general nurses on busier days.

Personality Blurb:
Roshan is very calm and good-natured, and has a mature air about him. He prefers professionalism above all, but can't help but take a more informal, friendlier route when interacting with new people due to a deep need to win everyone over. Preferring to take the road well traveled, he has trouble thinking outside of the box and would rather be told what to do than lead. A nurturer at heart, Roshan bases his independent decision-making wholly on whether or not it will help the people involved. When others are involved in the decision process, Roshan defers all authority to the others. Roshan has trouble speaking up, defending people and himself, and is easily intimidated. He's lost many arguments and not cashed in on prospective opportunities because of his timidness and inability to form cohesive counter arguments. The closer he gets with others the shyer he gets, because he is afraid of other people finding out things about him that they might not like. He gives in easily, making him easy to take advantage of. All he wants to do is support people who need his support. He's a good listener, and is good at articulating the exact words that people need to hear, but when it comes to helping himself with his own problems he'd rather sleep on it forever, even though he is painfully aware of his shortcomings. Basically, he tries to play the part of a responsible adult but is irresponsible when it comes to matters involving himself.
He's very much into dad humor.
Roshan suffers from very low self esteem. He has trouble thinking highly of himself and recognizing his achievements. He lets small negatives overshadow large positives. His thinking patterns are akin to that of a person with impostor syndrome. Roshan is stuck in the mentality that he is painfully boring and average. He does not see himself as having more than two or three positive qualities, so he does not believe that anyone would want to be friends with him, let alone become closer than friends. Despite this, Roshan tends to latch on to anyone who gives him positive, amiable attention because he has a subconscious eagerness to please, needing someone there to fulfill this need.
Roshan has a deep desire for affection. Above everything, he wants to find a romantic relationship that is fulfilling, in which he can trust the other parties not to leave him despite his negative traits. When he sees other people with such a relationship, he cannot help but feel jealous, though feeling such a way makes him feel petty. Roshan's low self esteem makes it difficult to put himself out there, as he cannot fathom anyone wanting to be with him. If someone were to flirt, Roshan most likely would not notice. In the event that he did notice, he would immediately write it off as himself imagining the thing that he wants so badly (but won't let himself have).

Etc History, Story Bits:
Roshan and Osier dated for 3 months during Roshan's earlier college years. They quickly realized that they worked better as friends, and have remained close since. Roshan and Osier consider each other their best friends.
At the hospital Roshan works at, he would have evening to night shift most days of the week. He would visit the only open place in the cafeteria, a coffee and sandwich shop, consistently every day. There would always be the same man, bright and smiley, working the register and making the coffee during these hours. Roshan quickly developed a crush, but could not bring himself to do anything more than order from him then retreat to a corner of the shop and eat his lunch late lunch in silence, watching wistfully from afar. When Wheaton and Osier find out about his crush, they badger him to ask him out until he finally agrees. Roshan beats around the bush and puts it off, until one day the man at the register starts gushing to Roshan about his fiance, whom he recently proposed to.
After this event, Osier makes it his mission to find Roshan a boyfriend. Roshan insists that he's fine, he's got his friends so he doesn't need a significant other, but Osier sees through him and charges on with his plan. His plan does not come to fruition, however, as Roshan rejects every man Osier tries to introduce him to.

Roshan and his friends live in Michigan. Roshan owns a rather large home in a neighborhood. It's just him and his cat who live there, so it is much too large and empty for his liking. The whole reason he got the home was because it is close to his work place. Wheaton often crashes at Roshan's when he needs a break. Osier is also always hanging out there. On any given day, one is likely to walk in on one or the other sprawled on the couch, hogging the tv, or raiding Roshan's kitchen.

Roshan does not like coming out to people, as he is anxious of being rejected for being transgender. This is another reason why he has the issues he does with dating, because he knows that if he were to ever express interest in someone that he would want them to know from the beginning.

Roshan blushes easily, at a wide variety of things. It does not take much to embarrass him.

Osier was Roshan's first kiss, and the only person he's ever kissed. It took two months for him to build up the confidence to kiss Osier, and after that they only did so a handful of times. If a future partner were to kiss Roshan, he'd likely still be insecure and nervous about it.

Due to budget cuts, the city hospital that Roshan works at has had to lay off many workers, and Roshan gets cut. Unemployed, Roshan must find a new alternative fast lest he risk upturning his whole life...

To be determined: updated humanoid outfits/refs, likes/dislikes, hobbies.
