Are the spikes actually poison?;

no, but they leak a poisonous nerotoxin that slowly dissolves the body. mainly used for defense, and to kill prey. they slowly stop the heart and all functions of the body. making the insides jelly. if jabbed with the spikes. your limb or are that has been attacked will rot. there is a slight chance of death or spread of the toxin. depending on when they anit-toxin can be administered.


symptoms of infection:

if you find one or more of these signs, seek immediate medical attention:
> tingling in the limbs
> burning pain in the flesh
> broken shards inside the wound
> an opaque green ooze leaking from the wound
> a sick feeling in the body
> a beating heart that now skips
> loss of breath
> feverish shaking
> disorientation and convulsions
> seizures


treatment:

if done in 1 hour after incident, the wound must be thoroughly cleaned and properly tied off from the blood stream. the toxin flows through the body quickly, so doing this immediately is key. before the toxin goes to your heart or brain, you have approximately 30 minuets. in that time, you must find the wound and inject the toxin. the saliva from this creature is a known anti-toxin and can hold off the spread of the poison. administer this on the wound and thoroughly seal. seek immediate medical care

the reason why?

ty is a shy bugger, usually using his spikes as a sign of defense when threatened. a jumpy creature, they will, if the victim is found not to be a direct threat, will in fact heal the wound before the toxin reaches the main vital organs. the victim sustain minor injuries to the damaged areas, but lives. after apologies are made and the victim is helped, the creature will resume it's careful and jumpy composure, never to be encountered again. hopefully.

problems towards tycain:

with each attack, the barb that administered this toxin will dissolve, retaken back into the body to be used as more antibodies, neuro-toxins, and minerals for the body. once dissolved, it will be regrown. some are not reabsorbed into the body, and fall off. begin collected as small "rocks" by various people that pass by them.
