Why Are His/Her Feathers Red?: Sand had been in a war. It was between two groups of Guardian Foxes who were dis agreeing about territory boundaries. Sand had been caught in the thickest of the cross fire and her feathers were turned red with the blood of the Guardian Foxes who were fighting. She was terrified of the battle but wasn't able to flee because enemies surrounded her everywhere. Heavily injured she was able to flee and found help from a peaceful group of Guardians that gladly helped heal her. Sadly they could not turn her feathers back to their original colors.

Why Are His/Her Feathers Red?: Lock's feathers are red because almost immediately after he was born, his mother died and his father abandoned him. The pup was found bloody and barely alive in the nest where his parents had lived. He was rescued and hand reared by a small group of humans with a sheltie foster mother and her pups. He's all grown now and thinks he's a dog.
