Zeke... It suits him so perfectly. I walked over to him and stroked him for a little while, he's so cute standing by his mother Macy. Memories flying back at Macy and Lola as my first babies. I reached into my pocket to pull out a carrot and gave it to Zeke. He nuzzled my hand open to find himself a treat. I gave him a scratch on the chin and I admired his markings.

First Saddle wrote:Zeke was growing and figured he was mature enough to try out the saddle.
I grabbed a red halter with a gold plate labeled Zeke, made custom just for him. He's one special unique fellow, but all are
treated with equality with respect. I entered the paddock, and whistled then shouted for Zeke, as for He's known his name,
and seemed to even agree with it. He came galloping at full speed, with a few of the others trotting behind him. They knew who I was calling for but they always have to take a peek in case they were missing out on treats.
I slipped the halter on him as I opened the gate. As I slipped him out I handed him a treat, I couldn't hope but laugh due to
how many snorts I heard as I walked away with Zeke. I turned around with a handful of mini carrots and tosses them into the paddock. They went sky diving for those.
I walked Zeke into the round pen with the saddle and halter ready for him. I let him stand around in the pen and he took no interest in the saddle. So I moved a bucket to the center of the pen, and placed the saddle with the bridle hanging off the horn. He walked to the center and just stood there looking for a few minutes and finally sniffed. He then lost interest and just walked away.
After a good 5 minutes I collected the saddle pad and walked over to try and toss it onto his back. He still seemed to not bother so I went for the saddle. As I turn around with the saddle he had moved closer, because he was following me. I gave the saddle a big
toss and onto his back. He jumped a bit then trotted off with a unfastened saddle on his back. I walked over to him and got a hold of his halter. I walked him to the fence and clipped the lead to him which was already tied to the gate.
I then moved the saddle into place and tightened it as he bobbed his head and stomped his feet a bit. that went well,
so I turned around to grab the bridle. It shocks me that he did well with the bridle due to the cold hard bit. But he didn't really react to much, except lick his mouth a bit and adjust the bit a some.

First Ride wrote:I had let him stand throwing a fuss for a few minutes and till he settled down.
I then removed his lead, and let him lose around the pen, and lunged him for at least 5 minutes to cut out some of his energy.
I called him to a stop and walked over to the gate. He didn't even need a moment to think and followed. I turned to reward and
did some practicing with him. I stepped into the stirrups on both side not mounting. I did that at least 3 times on both sides and then finally mounted. I sat on his back for a little then dismounted from the other side.
I then remounted on the side I dismounted and sat for a moment just to dismount off the other.
I gave him a few minutes as I walked him around the pen and mounted him for good this time to test drive him.
I only wanted to be sure he's okay with both sides and me mounting multiples of times. Yes this was a bit of a crazy training session,
but it worked out swell.
