Gender // Male
Do they like space? Why or why not? // He absolutely adores space...He feels so strange on Earth, but space is so lovely to him...
You see, Gomeisa is not of this world, and although nobody ever told him that, he feels it deep down: he doesn't belong here. And so he turns his eyes toward the heavens, wishing he could be out there, wishing he could go home some day.
He was born on a distant alien planet, orbiting a star in Canis Minor. Despite the advanced technology this civilization boasted, their planet was suffering from, well, an apocalypse. Natural disasters were ravaging the world, and the people were dying. One desperate couple hijacked a small ship, with only enough room for one.
They decided to send their young toddler son out to safety. They packed several valuable possessions in, threw on the hyperjump and autopilot, then stepped back as the escape pod launched itself out of the dying planet's atmosphere.
The little boy was terrified as the ship accelerated through hyperjump and shot through lightyears, but thankfully nothing hit the ship as it flew across the galaxy. The parents' plans was just...hope he landed on an inhabited planet far, far away. There had to be other life out there.
After about a month, when the boy's food supplies were running low, he became afraid as the monitor started flashing. APPROACHING PLANET. APPROACHING PLANET. PLANET IS HABITABLE.
The ship was caught by the planet's gravity and came crashing down in a jet of fire. The boy was knocked unconscious by the force of the landing, but was otherwise unharmed.
A RPW named Ryan was out for a walk that night as the shooting star fell, and felt a strange compulsion to go check it out. When he got there, he found the ship, the hatch knocked open. He peered inside and gasped when he found a little pup sleeping in the wreckage, looking a little worse for wear, with a little antenna headband on his head. Ryan looked for anything that would reveal the pup's identity, but all he found was a note reading "GOMEISA 1." It was the name of the boy's home, but he took it as his name. Gomeisa.
Gomeisa grew up with two brothers- the eternally young and cuddly Marinus, who hung in the woods a lot with his buddy Nike, and Hydrurga, who had the weirdest trains of thought and was a bit hard to understand. Gomeisa loved them both, but found Marinus's forest friend scary...and found himself identifying with Hydrurga's...alienation from others. Gomeisa found himself dreaming of another world, and vaguely familiar faces crying in dismay. He got teased for wearing antennae everywhere, and for his glowing eyes. He always seemed to say just the wrong thing, and he was extremely clumsy, with a pretty heavy lisp. He felt completely, well, alien.
One night he broke Ryan's heart by curling up in bed with him one night after a bad dream...and asked if he could go home.
Ryan could only manage a heartbroken "Maybe..."
Gomeisa desperately wants to return home one day, and he pores over books about space and astronauts. He wants to join NASA one day, to work on spaceships and perhaps even become an astronaut. Then, maybe, he can finally go home...wherever home is.
He is a very intelligent young RPW, but he has a hard time connecting to others outside his adoptive family. He is veery loving, but also very lonely and defensive. He's used to being teased and rejected, so he rarely opens himself to others anymore. His best friend is his brother Hydrurga, because they get each others' social awkwardness and isolation. Gomeisa is one of few who can hold a lengthy conversation with Hydrurga. He loves Marrinus dearly and goes to him on bad days for snuggles, but his bro's choice of friends wigs him out. Nike and Gomeisa do not trust each other, to Marinus's dismay. Gomeisa also holds limitless love and adoration for his father. Ryan tries so hard to keep his adoptive sons happy, even if he's really sad for them...like he's sad for his alien son. He's never told Gomeisa about his origins, but Gomeisa knows he doesn't belong. Ryan's just afraid of how his son will react...and how others will react. He means well, but not telling Gomeisa is leaving the boy in a state of self questioning and doubt.
But the stars are constant and shining, and Gomeisa wants to join them.
Since Gomeisa is an alien, he's adapted for another planet. This means he has several odd quirks on Earth. His homeworld was a very dark place with a thick atmosphere...
-His eyes generate their own light, functioning like built-in flashlights. His irises glow, shining light out. Then he can see well in darkness...although in Earth's daylight, he just has weird glowy eyes. His night vision is superb, however.
-His paint naturally glitters and sparkles. On the homeworld, RPWs evolved with the sparkly paint so it worked with their glowy eyes. Wolves would be able to mark something with their paint, and other wolves would be able to see it because the sparkles glinted brightly in the light of their eyes. On Earth he doesn't need this, though. His paint just looks pretty.
-His lungs evolved for a different atmosphere, where gas was thickly concentrated. The atmosphere is far thinner on Earth, resulting in Gomeisa seemingly having very weak lungs. He is similar to an asthmatic Earthling, becoming very short of breath after running, occasionally even losing consciousness.
-The RPWs of Gomeisa 1 were a pretty tech-friendly civilization, and one of their favorite gadgets was hearing-enhancing antennae. The antennae headbands were basically standard issue to every citizen, and they were designed to grow with the wearer and automatically shift their interface systems to adjust to outside sound levels. They can be removed any time; however, after extended use, it can be somewhat painful to separate from the headband's neural interface (although if yanked at enough, the headband will automatically terminate the interface and turn off). Gomeisa was wearing his headband when his parents shot him into space, so he was able to bring it to Earth. Since he wears it almost constantly, Gomeisa has very acute hearing (at least, that's what Earthlings think).
