This Tarvalier mare exhibits the Ww gene that causes "rose" horses. White and Rose horse can both have markings appear over their white, such as banding. Rose coats look similar to roans, but are very extreme versions. Only red base coats can be rose, similar to how a black base coat is required for a bay horse.
This female has banding; you can tell by the darker stripes in her mane and tail fringe. But because she also has the Masking gene turned on, the banding on her base coat doesn't appear.
