It was a crisp evening a month after I earned Traum's trust. Tugging my black jacket closer to my neck, I jogged quietly to the barn, grabbed a silk blanket and a smooth, black saddle. I placed it gently upon a fence and called for my nightmare.
Out of no where, I feel a breath of hot air on my neck, and I flinch away, turn fast, and come face to face with a giant black creature. I giggled slightly, brushed my hair out of my face with pale slender fingers, and then rubbed my Neravontii's forehead, and she bobbed her head slightly, making a silent shrill noise. Humming softly, I show her the red silk blanket and she sniffs it cautiously, and grabs it out of my hands, and runs.
"Tobenden Alptraum, get your rump back here with that saddle pad!!" I yell playfully and jog after her into the night.
Traum slowed to a walk, turned around quickly, causing me to almost run into her. I grab the blanket out of her mouth and slip it onto her back smoothly. Her whole body quivered under the blanket, but she didn't freak out. I resumed humming, and walked back to the fence with her following. Now for the difficult part... The saddle. Without showing my nervousness, I slowly approach her, and place the saddle upon her back.
She snaps, rears up, and gallops away from me. I sigh, pick up the dirt covered saddle, wipe it off and sit down, head lowered. Humming a dark tune for a few minutes, I hear Traum's heaving breathing subside and she walks up to me with her head down, right into my lap. Stroking her neck gently, I ease her tense muscles, and stand up to put on the saddle. This time, she doesn't even balk, and allows me to put on the saddle, and the bridle without her freaking.
"Thank you... My darkness..." I whisper and gently place my forehead against hers.
