Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beeeeep. "Who the heck's calling this early?" I mumble in my sleep. I slowly arch my back up and sit up in my bed, still half asleep. I rub my eyes to see what person has the nerve to call me in the morning at 5:00am. I turn my sleepy head to the phone besides my bed, and open my eyes a crack to see who had just called. "Oh... It's just the agency..." I spoke to myself, relaxed as I slid back under my covers. All of a sudden it clicks in my head, "The agency!!!" My eyes pop open as if I had been awake for hours, and my hand darts for the phone to see if they were still on leaving a message. "Hello, good morning, anyone there?" I exclaim to the phone anxiously. My voice stops as I realize there is someone on the other end of the phone, and I relax. "Hello, this is the agency." A very robotic voice answers, "Congratulations, you have won! Your Neravontii will be arriving shortly. Estimated arrival time: 5:45am." There was a silence. "Good bye" The automated voice said and the call was ended. What did I even win? Oh well... I guess I'll figure it out at 5:45... hmm... I got barley any time!!! Better go feed Fay and Fern breakfast now! Oh, and they must be looking their best if I have won something and the agency will be over to deliver the Nervaontii! I jump out of bed, and get myself ready! Within 10 minuets, I'm out the door with two buckets full of feed, one with Nera's vegetarian diet+ and the other Nera's Feed time. Quickly, I shuffle to the fence and call for my two girls to come. "Fern, Fay! Breakfast!" I yell as I put Fern's feed bucket through the old fence rails, followed by me and then Fay's feed.
I spot Fay and Fern. The two of them are lying down sleeping across from each other creating circular shape. Fern lifts her head peacefully, and looks over to the sleeping Fay. Fern lifts her tail off the grass and gentle taps Fay's side, making a faint sound to try to wake Fay. Fern slowly manages to stand up, and she trudges along slowly to me waiting impatiently for her to arrive. The sun behind the field has barely started to rise, and I check the time on my phone, it reads: 5:27 am. With Fay still sleeping, and Fern just starting to eat her feed, I place Fay's bucket on the ground, and run across the field into the back corner. There, I find Fay sleeping peacefully, occasionally swishing her tail as if she were playing. I lean over to her, and reach out my hand to her ear. I stroked her ear gentle, whispering to her. "Hey Fay, good morning girl. It's time to get up, okay? I have your breakfast," Soon, she awoke from her slumber. Her ears perked up and she lifted her head almost instantly. She didn't hesitate to get up, and once she had done so, she looked at me curiously with her head tilted. She playfully nudged me, but I shook my head and pointed to Fern who was slowly, taking her time eating; putting her head up after getting a mouthful and looking around as she slowly chewed, then she would go back down for more. Fay happily trotted towards Fern and her own feed.
With feeding the two girls out of the way, I concentrated on what in the world I had won. My thoughts were interrupted by the slow roaring sound of an engine lurking up the hill to the house. I quickly check my watch, 5:35am. They're early!! I sprint from the back of the field as quick as I can. I was going to brush Fern and Fay to make them look nice and shiny, but no time for that now!! As I arrive to the two girl's eating near the fence gate, I notice the truck pulling up with a very fancy trailer behind it. Fern looks up and walks closer to the gate to investigate. The truck comes to a stop, an a man walks out.
He explains to me that I have won a contest raffle, and that he has come with my prize, a Neravontii! But not any Neravontii, a very special one! I had won the #100 raffle, and I was so excited! I joyfully ran to the back of the trailer to see my new stallion. The man was happy to help, and as he lifted the back of the trailer, it was like slow motion amazement. The outside light pecked into the trailer, shedding light onto the handsome boy inside. He looked at me. I reached my hand out to him, but he just sniffed it and put his nose up at it. "Don't take it personally, he's been fiery lately ever since he's been at the agency waiting to come to a home. But don't worry, he'll warm up to ya, and when he does, he's a very loyal Neravontii." The man reassured me. He then proceeded to ask me where I would like him to go, and I motioned to the fence gate behind up. I turned around and quickly unlatched it, swinging it forwards towards me. I stopped it at the side of the trailer.
All of a sudden, the stallion moved. He turned around in the trailer and peered his head out. Fay looked at the stallion curiously, along with Fern. They seemed to be confused about why there was a new stallion here. I looked at my two girls, and then my stallion, realizing he wasn't going anywhere. Quickly, I speed walk over to Fern and Fay, who seem to be a little frightened by all the commotion. I stroke Fay's ear and rub Fern's forehead, "It's okay girls, it's just a new friend," I reassure them. With the two of them calmed down, I walk back over to the stallion, who in the mean time I decided on a name, Ferris. It suited him very nicely, and it stuck. "Hey Ferris," I said calmly as I held my hand out, and I kept it there. For a while, Ferris and I were in a silent battle of who would give first. But after just 5 minuets, he slowly lowered his head, and rested his muzzle into the palm of my hand. With my other hand, I stroked his rough forehead, and followed my hand down his neck, and then back up to his small ears. "What a good boy you are, Ferris," I say with a smile. I back away, letting him come out of the trailer. He runs. He ran into the pasture which sent Fay chasing after. It was a game of tag, they would nip each other and then run away from the one who just got nipped. It was a nice nip, nothing to hurt each other. It was just for fun, that is until Fay realized Farris always seemed to out run her. Irritated someone was beating her at her own game, Fay's ear went back, and I could see her trying to show off, but he showed no effort to out run her. He's fast, he'll maybe be a racer... But I'll let him have his fun for now, and I just laughed.
