ohh, I can't believe I won him!
I believe I have decided:
His Barn name will be Ferris, and his show name will be Earth's Core!
I've decided I like the show name :)

The First Touch

Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beeeeep. "Who the heck's calling this early?" I mumble in my sleep. I slowly arch my back up and sit up in my bed, still half asleep. I rub my eyes to see what person has the nerve to call me in the morning at 5:00am. I turn my sleepy head to the phone besides my bed, and open my eyes a crack to see who had just called. "Oh... It's just the agency..." I spoke to myself, relaxed as I slid back under my covers. All of a sudden it clicks in my head, "The agency!!!" My eyes pop open as if I had been awake for hours, and my hand darts for the phone to see if they were still on leaving a message. "Hello, good morning, anyone there?" I exclaim to the phone anxiously. My voice stops as I realize there is someone on the other end of the phone, and I relax. "Hello, this is the agency." A very robotic voice answers, "Congratulations, you have won! Your Neravontii will be arriving shortly. Estimated arrival time: 5:45am." There was a silence. "Good bye" The automated voice said and the call was ended. What did I even win? Oh well... I guess I'll figure it out at 5:45... hmm... I got barley any time!!! Better go feed Fay and Fern breakfast now! Oh, and they must be looking their best if I have won something and the agency will be over to deliver the Nervaontii! I jump out of bed, and get myself ready! Within 10 minuets, I'm out the door with two buckets full of feed, one with Nera's vegetarian diet+ and the other Nera's Feed time. Quickly, I shuffle to the fence and call for my two girls to come. "Fern, Fay! Breakfast!" I yell as I put Fern's feed bucket through the old fence rails, followed by me and then Fay's feed.

I spot Fay and Fern. The two of them are lying down sleeping across from each other creating circular shape. Fern lifts her head peacefully, and looks over to the sleeping Fay. Fern lifts her tail off the grass and gentle taps Fay's side, making a faint sound to try to wake Fay. Fern slowly manages to stand up, and she trudges along slowly to me waiting impatiently for her to arrive. The sun behind the field has barely started to rise, and I check the time on my phone, it reads: 5:27 am. With Fay still sleeping, and Fern just starting to eat her feed, I place Fay's bucket on the ground, and run across the field into the back corner. There, I find Fay sleeping peacefully, occasionally swishing her tail as if she were playing. I lean over to her, and reach out my hand to her ear. I stroked her ear gentle, whispering to her. "Hey Fay, good morning girl. It's time to get up, okay? I have your breakfast," Soon, she awoke from her slumber. Her ears perked up and she lifted her head almost instantly. She didn't hesitate to get up, and once she had done so, she looked at me curiously with her head tilted. She playfully nudged me, but I shook my head and pointed to Fern who was slowly, taking her time eating; putting her head up after getting a mouthful and looking around as she slowly chewed, then she would go back down for more. Fay happily trotted towards Fern and her own feed.

With feeding the two girls out of the way, I concentrated on what in the world I had won. My thoughts were interrupted by the slow roaring sound of an engine lurking up the hill to the house. I quickly check my watch, 5:35am. They're early!! I sprint from the back of the field as quick as I can. I was going to brush Fern and Fay to make them look nice and shiny, but no time for that now!! As I arrive to the two girl's eating near the fence gate, I notice the truck pulling up with a very fancy trailer behind it. Fern looks up and walks closer to the gate to investigate. The truck comes to a stop, an a man walks out.

He explains to me that I have won a contest raffle, and that he has come with my prize, a Neravontii! But not any Neravontii, a very special one! I had won the #100 raffle, and I was so excited! I joyfully ran to the back of the trailer to see my new stallion. The man was happy to help, and as he lifted the back of the trailer, it was like slow motion amazement. The outside light pecked into the trailer, shedding light onto the handsome boy inside. He looked at me. I reached my hand out to him, but he just sniffed it and put his nose up at it. "Don't take it personally, he's been fiery lately ever since he's been at the agency waiting to come to a home. But don't worry, he'll warm up to ya, and when he does, he's a very loyal Neravontii." The man reassured me. He then proceeded to ask me where I would like him to go, and I motioned to the fence gate behind up. I turned around and quickly unlatched it, swinging it forwards towards me. I stopped it at the side of the trailer.

All of a sudden, the stallion moved. He turned around in the trailer and peered his head out. Fay looked at the stallion curiously, along with Fern. They seemed to be confused about why there was a new stallion here. I looked at my two girls, and then my stallion, realizing he wasn't going anywhere. Quickly, I speed walk over to Fern and Fay, who seem to be a little frightened by all the commotion. I stroke Fay's ear and rub Fern's forehead, "It's okay girls, it's just a new friend," I reassure them. With the two of them calmed down, I walk back over to the stallion, who in the mean time I decided on a name, Ferris. It suited him very nicely, and it stuck. "Hey Ferris," I said calmly as I held my hand out, and I kept it there. For a while, Ferris and I were in a silent battle of who would give first. But after just 5 minuets, he slowly lowered his head, and rested his muzzle into the palm of my hand. With my other hand, I stroked his rough forehead, and followed my hand down his neck, and then back up to his small ears. "What a good boy you are, Ferris," I say with a smile. I back away, letting him come out of the trailer. He runs. He ran into the pasture which sent Fay chasing after. It was a game of tag, they would nip each other and then run away from the one who just got nipped. It was a nice nip, nothing to hurt each other. It was just for fun, that is until Fay realized Farris always seemed to out run her. Irritated someone was beating her at her own game, Fay's ear went back, and I could see her trying to show off, but he showed no effort to out run her. He's fast, he'll maybe be a racer... But I'll let him have his fun for now, and I just laughed.

The First Saddle

With Introductions all settled in a week's time, everyone seems to be getting along fine. Ferris is at the top of the pecking order, being the only stallion. Fay is his head mare, and Fern is pretty equal in ranking to Fay, just shows no interest in Ferris as Fay does. Fern could really care less about Ferris being around, but Fay seems to be all over him. I walk over to Ferris with arms full of tack. As I do so,i notice what my Neravontii's are doing. Fern is grazing while Ferris and Fay chase eachother around; however; Ferris occasionally nips at Fay for some reason, but I have to ignore the nipping for now. Ferris and I have work to do! "Ferris, come here!" I yell loudly so he can hear me across the field. He stops dead in his tracks, and with Fay not paying attention to the fact that he stopped, she ran fright into him from behind, resulting in a harsh kick to the leg from Ferris. Fay jumped back, surprised he kicked her. She slapped him with her tail, and galloped off in a sort of skipping motion, almost cantering.

Ferris shook his head at her, and returned to concentrating his attention on me. Quickly, he galloped right over to me, I placed my tack down as he did so. Once he arrived, which didn't take to long, he stood proud and tall, head high up. I looked up at him and his special mutations. What a pretty boy... "I'm so lucky to have you, Ferris." I announced quietly to him and he lowered his head so I could stroke his head. By now, Ferris had gotten used to me, and was very reliable. Ferris noticed the tack on the ground next to me, and he leaned in. He sniffed the green leather saddle, and he nudged it with his head, and took a step back as if it were to do something. Then, he nudged it again and jumped back.

I let Ferris interact with the tack for a little bit. I didn't want him to be scared of it when it went on his back, so I figured if he gets used to it now, then he'll be fine with it on his back, right? Once Ferris was done with the saddle, he looked at the bridle and the bit. He picked up the bridle with his mouth and started shaking it around. The bit made a clinking found as it hit itself repeatedly. Next was the tail flap, and right as he picked it up my the thin, delicate cloth part, I quickly snatched it out of his mouth before he ripped it. "Alright boy, I think that's enough playing for one day," I laughed as I started moving all his tack to the fence post.

Ferris followed me and the tack, and I started the process of saddling up. I quickly hopped right up onto the top fence rail, and carefully ran my hand up and down his back where the saddle would go. Then, I rub my hand where the girth will go. Once I assume that Ferris is okay with something on his back, I lift up the saddle and carefully place it on his back. His once relaxed body terns tense, and he gallops away, forcing the saddle to slip right off his back. "No! Ferris! Come back!!" I scream as I leap down from the rail to go and catch him. He rears and bucks as he runs galloping around the field. Fern looks up from her grazing, but ignores him; however, Fay quickly looks up from her grazing next to Fern, and goes to chase after him.

Eventually I calm the two of them down, and lead Fay back to grazing with Fern as I finish up with Ferris. I put a halter onto Ferris and draped the lead line over his neck. When he was haltered and had the reins draped over his neck, it was a single for him to stand still, which he seemed to follow. This time, I place the saddle on him and he stood still for the most part. He twitched his back as if a fly had landed on him, but he was used to the saddle, finally. I grabbed the girth hanging off the rail next to me, and I stepped down from my sitting position on the old fence rail, being careful not to startle Ferris and make him run off again. I attached the girth and only put it on two holes on each side. It almost fit him, but I didn't dare to tighten it. For now, getting the girth even on was good enough. I have some work ahead of me, I sigh. Ferris looks over at me, and I shake my head as I start to take the saddle and girth off of him.

The First Ride

I walk over to the old, rickety fence. In my arms lay a large saddle , and draped over my shoulder a tail piece, girth, and bridle. The metal clicks together creating a rhythmic tone as I walk. With a bit of pep in my step, I happily place all the tack neatly on the fence rail, and look out for Ferris. With now three Neravontii's in my new forming herd, I always find it interesting to see what everyone is doing. I could sit out here for days watching them together, what interesting creatures they are. I shake my head. I stop my gazing and quickly holler for Ferris to come over. Happily, he trots right to me, assuming we were just doing out daily "drills" of tacking up that we "preform" twice a day. Usually Ferris doesn't enjoy tacking up so much with such a bulky saddle, however, recently, he's been seeming to get much better, thus why I made the decision I did, today.

Ferris automatically walks over close to the fence where all his tack is neatly placed on the top fence rail and fence post beside it. He looks over to me, as if I am not following our routine correctly. Annoyed, he violently waves his tail high in the air. I snap back into the world and stop my rambling nonsense of all the things that can go horribly wrong today in my head. Anxiously with shaky hands, I quickly walk over to the saddle and pick up it. I carefully place it upon Ferris' back, and tighten the girth to the right amount. He tries to shake it off as he does every time, but I ignore the usual gesture. I reach for his tail piece which I quickly snap onto the saddle, and tie around his tail. Ferris knew exactly what happened next, the bridle and breast collar. As I scurried away from Ferris and to the fence, I feel a tiny, tiny, cold feeling hit my head. From the corner of my eye I see Ferris' tail swimming happily, and I assume it is just him playing around. Soon, I feel it again. I rub my hand on the top of my head and run it down my head, nothing. I shrug, and put the bridle over my shoulder, and put the breast collar in my right hand. I take the part in which attaches to the girth, ad clip it on first. Then I quickly adjust the buckles on each side to the saddle to it fits his shoulders properly.

Slowly, I walk over to the front of him. Ferris gently lowers his head, as I put his head through the reins, past his tiny ears, and gentle place them resting on his neck. I come to the side of him, and quickly slide the bit in his mouth, and put the bridle on. I fasten the buckles, and step back. This is when I would normally reward Ferris by releasing him from the tack, and he stood still waiting for me to do so. Although, as he saw me climb up onto the rail as I do when I ride Fay, or take Fern out on a trail, I see his body tense up. I reach in front of me, and quickly grab the reins and hold them tightly. I slowly lean my body towards him, and eventually rest my weight on the side of his saddle. Feeling pretty good about how he reacted to weight of a human on his back, I place my foot in the stirrup in front of me, as I reassure him everything's okay. I feel his heart slowly starting to get faster, and although there's a tiny voice inside my head telling me to bail, I continue through with the motion my body automatically knows how to do. I lung forwards, and rest my self in the cold saddle. I look up, and notice it is no longer sunny out, but it is gently raining, and within a second, everything changes.

I feel a rush of cold air rushing through my long, dirty blond hair, and large rain drops splashing on my face. My body is thrown forwards onto Ferris' neck, and I feel my left stirrup banging against the side of my leg. A crack of lightning above and the roar of thunder booms in my ears, and I shut my eyes forcefully. Huge rain drops started falling down hitting me harshly I feel a heavy heart beat banging in my legs. The slippery reins slide from my tight grasp and my right hand slips free of the rein. Quickly, I frantically swing my arm around blindly trying to locate it, but I lung for Ferris' neck which is low, making a straight line with his back. A small strip of leather waves in the wind and flaps against my arms freely. For a brief second, I crack my eyes open, but all is a blur between my surroundings going by so fast, and the heavy rain up above. I can hear the pounding noise of Ferris running against the wet, muddy ground. I hang on for dear life. I put my trust into Ferris that he will get me out alive.

All of a sudden, the harsh wind violently hitting me against my face stops, and I feel the cool rain drip down my back. Do I dare open my eyes... Slowly, I open my scared eyes. My body is shaking, and my legs are moving in and out with the deep, heavy breathing of Ferris. I release my grasp from Ferris' neck, and he lowers it to the ground, panting. I look down at Ferris; he is exhausted. I pat Ferris' neck with my trembling hand. I can't believe that just happened. I'm in shock. I look at Ferris' tack, the reins are in a twisted knot, my left stirrup iron is no longer attached, I'll have to find and fix it later, and everything is soaked, obviously. Slowly, Ferris turns his head to me, he, unlike me, seems excited. Ferris suddenly prances in place. It is then I notice that we have stopped in a mud pile. Ferris nudges me in the stomach, and I laugh and push his head away. I notice Fern and Fay in the back ground slowly approaching us together. I lung forwards and grab Ferris' head, and I hug him. "Heh, you think that was funny, hu Ferris?" I laugh. He happily nods his head up and down repeatedly, happy to see I'm not mad at him. I hug his big head again, and stroke his wet ears. "We'll work on that," I laugh as Fern and Fay arrive and stick their noses into me to get some attention to, and I gladly give it to all three of my loved Neravontiis.
