Re: Kilio

Postby emango23 » Sat Jan 10, 2015 11:52 am

So his name is Kilio, I'll post the first touch and other info from the other thread soon ^^

Image

.:Name:.
Kilio

.: Price Bought For :.
5 Uncommon cats

.: Gender :.
Gelded Male

.: Species :.

Neravontii

.: Height :.
Kilio is 10 feet and 9 inches.

.: Personality :.
Three main traits (given): fragile, shifty, vain

elaborated: he is a very particular Nevarontii, vain in his actions, liking everything to be just so. He enjoys running, going fast, that kind of pure speed. He is very loyal to his owner, though is nervous and shifty around others, and even his master if they are out of sort (angry, too happy, depressed, etc.). If he connects with his owner though, he can meld with them almost perfectly, the rider and ridden becoming one, if only for a little while. He's very sensitive to emotions, can detect when someone is lying or when someone is upset, and any reading of aggression make him nervous.
.: Likes :.

running, going fast, his owner, oats, veal, cooked meat (NICELY cooked meat), soft things, small things, cleanliness

.: Dislikes :.
jumps, the dark, insects, dirt and mud on his coat, stumbling, many different types of foods, most other Nevarontii

Name: Vane
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Birthday: June 25th
Zodiac symbol: Cancer
Height: 6'1
Eye Color: Black, same color as the pupils and the whites.
Hair Color: White
Hair Length: worn in a thin ponytail , ends at about the small of his back
Skin Tone: average cream color
Shoe size: 10.5
Species: He's a Destrin, a race of very humanoid creatures, originating from desert-like regions, though have colonized much of their world. There are two races, though they are often mixed, often called "marbled". One race has very dark skin, ranging from a deep olive to a very, very dark grey, borderline black, and hair that ranges from dark brown to black. The other race is the "pale" one, with skin ranging from completely porcelain white to lightly tanned, and hair that can go from somewhat dirty blonde to completely white. Both race's eyes are large, round and completely black, like a mouse, one mutation causing some light-types to be albino, their eyes red. This affects 5% of the pale population. Apart from that this species is very human-like, usually a bit more slender from their desert origins, and can't grow facial hair. Their original, customary garb consists of leathers, their climate lacking plant fibers, and men usually grow their hair out long.
Normal Clothing: either some type of pale fiber-based clothing, cotton in the summer and wool in the winter,
Riding Clothing: a fitting leather outfit, leather-brown with long sleeves and pants, as well as a leather riding helmet.
Formal Wear: he either doesn't own one, or has an ill-fitting black tuxedo
Sleepwear: cotton pants, no shirt
Other Accessories: he has a few beaded necklaces, though they're for different events: one is worn only in his astrological birth month, another on his birthday, etc.
Personality:
Likes: riding,
Dislikes: loud noises
Fears:
Strengths when riding: speed, trail, flat track
Weaknesses when riding: jumping, steeplechase
Friends: N/A
Enemies: N/A
Sexuality: idk
Crush: none
GF/BF: none
Other:

(anything on here is subject to change; there may be more riders for different RPing or storyline purposes, maybe its just the author's perspective without a character, it might even just be Kilio by himself and his thoughts, it really depends)

Training || First Touch

Postby emango23 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 3:23 am

First Touch:

Vane was a bit more than nervous, staring at the Nevarontii that stood in front of him. It looked agitated, ducking and weaving its head any time Vane made even the slightest movement, its large air holes on its neck widening and shrinking as it whinnied. He had only minor experience with these creatures before, his father had let him pet his own on occasion, and his had been older and gentle. The one that stood in front of him looked almost feral, untrained and unused to contact. He tried to take a step closer, but it snorted, and he didnt want to upset it. This went on for quite a while. He was eventually able to take miniatre steps toward the Nevarontii without it reacting, but any large movements and it would either become agitated or move farther away. It seemed sharp, no doubt about that, but untrusting. Well, then he would have to gain its trust. Vane lay down on the ground, the commotion causing the Nevarontii to buck slightly, its ape-like hands scraping at the ground, nails digging into bits of hay that were strewn around. When Vane was on the floor on his back, he closed his eyes, trying not to move. He lay there for quite a while, and the snorts and stomps of the beast became less and less frequent. He hoped he was doing the right thing, he probably wasnt, but- He suddenly heard a large thump come from not two feet away from him, and it took all his willpower not to flinch or open his eyes. What had happened? Ever so slowly he cracked open one eye, every so carefully moving it so that he could see the souce of the noise. On the ground next to him was the Nevarontii, It sniffed him cautiously, and Vane held his breath as the creature's delicate snout brushed against his stomach. It huffed softly, taking one of its legs awkwardly out from under itself and brought its hand up to his arm, grasping it in its powerful digits. What was it doing? Vane stayed still. This was a little close for comfort, but it didnt seem aggressive now, it almost seemed...concerned. concerned? could that be it? He tried to keep his breathing even, but the idea had already filled him with excitement, and he could tell the Nevarontii had sensed it as well. It stood slowly, at the same time Vane sat up, though it had stopped it whinnying. Maybe he was ready now. Vane stood slowly and carefully, the Nevarontii only ducking once. He held out one trembling hand to the creature, who back away slightly, then moved forward, nostrils flaring as it sniffed the hand. They both stood in silence for a few moment then, as if the creature had made its decision, craned his neck , his head brushing against Vane's palm. Vane held his breath as he felt the creature , it's taut skin and delicate layer of hair. Finally the creature stepped back, snorted once, and went back to the other side of the stable.

Training || First Saddle

Postby emango23 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 4:24 am

First Saddle:

It had been a few weeks now since Vane's first encounter with his Nevarontii, which he had now named Kilio (not very original, but it suited him). In that time the Nevarontii had slowly warmed up to him, still a little nervous and jumpy but much friendlier, letting the boy pet his flank and lead him around the pasture. He was a very sensitive creature, snorting and clawing at the earth if the pasture was too muddy from a previous downpour, or refusing to be touched if Vane wasn't in a good mood. This had only happened once though, he had been angry and had come to the stable to cool down, but Kilio would have none of it, trotting away from him. Apart from those incidents though, they had grown considerably closer, and Vane felt it was about time to begin the actual training process. He had seen his father do it countless times with his Nevarontii, it couldn't be too hard.

It was an older saddle, smooth and paled with age, a cobweb of cracks in the leather. Vane took it down from the small tack storage, unsurprised by the weight. He dragged it over to the stable, peeking inside to find Kilio eating the apple he had brought him. Kilio was very particular about his food. He refused to eat Nevarontii mesh - a combination of ground meat and grains. He would eat certain fruits though, as well as prepared meat. His favorites were rabbit and veal. Vane tapped on the door lightly. Kilio didn't turn around, but his ear flicked back, showing that he heard him. The boy opened the door slowly, making sure it didn't creak and startle him. Kilio turned around, swallowing the remainder of the apple and walked over to Vane, bending down and smelling the saddle, thin snout hovering over the leather, the dust making him snort and making Vane chuckle. "I'm sorry if its not comfortable, but I think you'll get used to it" Vane said gently into the beast's ear, slowly raising the saddle and setting it as gently as possible on Kilio's back. He didn't like it.

Kilio snorted and turned his head, like a dog chasing its tail as he turned around in nervous circles, smelling and feeling the weight of the saddle. "Its okay, its okay" Vane repeated again and again, trying to get closer to the Nevarontii and resting a hand on his flank. Kilio snorted again, still looking uncomfortable, ears twitching and hand scraping against the ground, but didn't try to rid himself of the saddle. Now came the challenging part.

Vane, still murmuring words of comfort and keeping a steady hand on the creature's side, made his way to the saddle, taking hold of one of the stomach straps, which made Kilio switch nervously. He slowly and carefully reached underneath Kilio's slender stomach, making sure to avoid his breathing holes, which were sensitive, grabbing the opposing stomach strap, and wove them together. Vane was scared to breath. A wrong move, brushing against the breathing holes or making the strap too tight could cause the Nevarontii to buck or kick. It seemed to take forever, but finally the strap was tightened and secure, and he carefully took a few steps backwards. Kilio shifted nervously a bit, the iron of the buckle against his stomach alien and unnatural, but as Vane watched him he calmed down, trotting back over to where Vane was and snuffling his bag, no doubt smelling the rabbit that Vane had brought to celebrate the small accomplishment. "Good boy" Vane grinned, rubbing the Nevarontii's head between the ears. "Good boy."

(btw, I dont ride, so I am pretty much BSing through the details of the saddle and the other equipment. I apologize if some things are labeled incorrectly or completely wrong ^^;)

Training || First Ride

Postby emango23 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 4:24 am

First Ride:

Kilio had slowly grown accustomed to the saddle, and Vane had taken it on and off every day, though had never had the guts to try to get on. The saddle seemed to have connected the rider and ridee, a certain level of trust established every time Vane buckled and unbuckled the stomach belt, each time feeling a bit more confident, his hands becoming more and more fluid with the movements. He was rarely nervous around Kilio, and Kilio was rarely nervous around him. Occasionally he would stomp and snort if Vane entered the stable too quickly or loudly, and still didn't like mud, but for the most part they had a mutual feeling for the other.

One late summer afternoon, Vane was leading Kilio around the pasture, in a deep thought. He nodded to himself. Today he would try to ride. This was certainly a huge step, from having a saddle on your back to a person, but it had to happen at some time. Vane glanced at Kilio, reaching up and patting cream neck.

Vane lead the Nevarontii back to the stable, though didn't put him back in his stall, instead taking him out into the main hallway. The Nevarontii snorted softly and flicked his tail, but seemed mostly calm. Okay. Van patted the creature's flank, then gripped the saddle horn. He pulled on it slightly, with only a tail flick of reaction from Kilio, and it seemed sturdy. Slowly and carefully he put his right foot in the stirrup, not much pressure, just to try to get a feel. He slowly put more and more weight, and Kilio snorted softly, one hand pawing the ground. "It's okay Kili, I'ts okay, nice and easy" he murmured then, in a fluid motion, swung his other leg over, and he was on.

Kilio snorted loudly, shaking his head, breathing holes opening and closing as he was flooded with adrenaline. He whinnied and grunted, tail curling and snapping like it was alive, the opposable tip curling. His nostrils flared and he began to take nervous steps backwards, quick little ones like he did before he bucked. "It's okay! Easy!" Vane called down to the creature, trying to keep his voice even and his breathing normal, he didn't want to scare Kilio more.

Kilio didn't buck, but even after he had initially calmed down he was still easily spooked, and his coat was covered in a thin layer of sweat. "Okay" Vane murmured, mostly to himself, "We're going to take this nice and easy." He gently squeezed his ankles against the Nevarontii's stomach, which triggered no results. That was expected, but he would have to keep practicing. "Come on boy" he breathed to Kilio, pressing his heels again. Kilio began to walk forward nervously, a few steps. "Good boy!" Vane cheered, taking out an apple and knife from his bag, slicing off a chunk and feeding it Kilio. "Lets try to make it to the pasture, okay?"

A few minutes later the pair had slowly and painfully made their way outside. Kilio didn't like this much, though with every couple of feet he seemed to become a bit more confident, his tail flicking less often and his footsteps gradually turning into his normal walk instead of a shamble. The fresh air seemed to calm him down even further, lifting his head in curiosity, eye sockets drinking in the surroundings. "Lets do a few laps, okay Kili?" Vane tapped the Nevarontii's side lightly, and he moved forward. He was becoming confident, the next step could be trotting. And suddenly they were trotting. Vane wasnt too nervous, it still wasnt very fast, but Kilio had done it by himself, and he still hadn't quite created a stop signal for him. His nervousness only increased When Kilio began to gallop.

"Woah!" Vane shouted to him over the wind as Kilio began to gallop. His ears flicked back but he made no signal that he was stopping. Vane got low in the saddle, gripping the reins clenched fists. He tried to pull back on them, but he was scared he would put too much pressure and Kilio would become spooked and throw him, losing confidence. They kept going faster and faster, from a trot to a canter to a gallop, to a full out run, racing around the pasture. It was simultaneously terrifying and exhilarating. After breaking a certain speed point, Vane wasn't scared anymore, it felt more like flying. He whooped as they flew, the grass turning to a green blur, the trees racing past on either side. The boy was almost lying down, only a few centimeters between his chest and the leather saddle, his wide black eyes lit with raw joy.

Finally, after a few minutes, Kilio slowed down, back to a trot, then a walk, and eventually stopped. His coat slick with sweat and his sides heaving, he bowed his head, teeth ripping grass from the ground. Vane slowly got off of the Nevarontii, his legs shaky as he dismounted. He was breathing hard as well, and pulled the remainder of the apple from his bag, which Kilio took and interest to and took from his hand. After catching his breath, Vane grinned widely, wrapping his arms around the Nevarontii's neck, oblivious to the sweat and dirt tat had been picked up. Kilio didnt turn, but his ear flicked back at his touch. "You're amazing" Vane whispered in his ear, and Kilio snorted, which Vane decided was in agreement.
