Name // Dragonfruit Gibson Doa.
Dragonfruit is named after her exquisite pelt that resembles the dragonfruit. Her middle name, Gibson, refers to the infamous guitar company. They are well known for manifesting with many musicians. As for her last name, it is her and her mate's, Koa, last name.
Nicknames // DF and/or Drag.
Often, Dragonfruit prefers to be just called "Dragonfruit" { unless it's one of her kids, in which case she prefers "mom" or some variant }, although close friends will often refer to her as DF or Drag. She isn't fond when you call her one of those when you don't know her too well, as it makes her a bit uncomfortable.
Gender // Female.
The same as her biological sex, it's simple as that.
Sexuality // Heteroromantic Demisexual.
Meaning, she's only interested in males, sorry girls and others! And happily taken. <3
Personality // Intelligent, Spirited, Quirky, Motherly, Overprotective, Laid Back.
Dragonfruit is actually quite smart and witty, despite her past. She may not have made the best decisions in the past, but she now puts her noggin to good use! Her strong points in knowledge are mostly in music, but DF does know a bit about history. She is also has a motherly heart and cares for her children. Before Drag had her children, she wasn't very big into them, but now that she has her own... she adores them! However, Dragonfruit can be very overprotective of her two girls. Of course, the female does give them their space when needed! She can be very defensive for them and the rest of her family, though. Drag is also very music oriented. Music is her life, her escape, her way to express herself. She feels the tension in songs and always tries to decipher the lyrical meaning. She does in fact take pride in her music and her knowledge of music. Dragonfruit actually plays the guitar, mostly electric when she was younger, but Drag settles for an acoustic guitar now. She is a big fan of rock, pop, R&B, heavy metal, blues, indie pop, and sometimes even a bit of country. DF can come as antisocial at times, as she isn't very fond of public speaking, but when you get to know her, Dragonfruit is actually an upbeat bean! At times, DF can be a little sarcastic and blunt -- usually if you seriously get on her nerves or hurt her family! She tends to be laid back and try to act "cool", but we all know she can be pretty quirky! x3 Dragonfruit occasionally becomes depressed, sometimes from reoccurring thoughts that arouse or just remembering her past. She does not, however, usually show this internal feeling with others.

WHAT ARE SOME DEEPER DETAILS?
by Snow!Quirks // Usually, Dragonfruit carries around a guitar pick { see accessories for more info on it }, and when she is nervous she usually twirls and weaves in between her hands/claws. It helps her to focus on that instead of what she is nervous about.
Theme Songs // All of Me by John Legend; Stay With Me by Sam Smith; Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips.
Accessories // Dragonfruit isn't one to wear a lot accessories or carry around a lot of items these days, but she does have a few things!
A Guitar Pick is something she will always carry around, but this one is very special to her. Her mate, Koa, gave it to her when he proposed to her. She's kept along side her ever since, whether it's in her pouch in feral/quad form or strung on a string around her neck in human/anthro form. The guitar pick is a light cream color with a soft green swirled on it. There is also a small heart on it. <3
Dragonfruit also has four silver piercing on her ears in total. There her two on each ears. One is a stud and the other is a small loop on one ear. The other ear has the same exact piercings! DF has worn piercings since she was a teenager/young adult, so she carries on a bit of her past wearing the simple piercings on her ears.

DOESN'T EVERYONE HAVE A PAST?
History // [ This is in Dragonfruit's point of view and is in anthro form. ]
I was an ordinary kid, with ordinary parents. Well... not really.
We lived in New York in this big apartment building. I was only a small bean when we lived there! Of course, this was a short lived period in my life. It was then when my parents became bankrupt and they couldn't pay the mortgage. As you imagine, they both had lost their jobs. And that was when it all changed.
The old streets of New York is somewhere where most people don't call home. Most people refer to "home" as a place with a warm, comfy bed and fresh food sitting on the table with friends and family gather around.
Unfortunately, the ratty, old streets were my home. My parents and I lived in a small shack, that looked like it would collapse at any moment. The brisk wind would rattle and shake the shack, and we would all huddle close, hoping we wouldn't blow away.
There was hardly enough money to buy food, but we managed... somehow. The food were scraps and our stomachs would always growl for more. My parents still sat along in the unemployment line, like snails scooting along molasses.
It wasn't until my 12th birthday when I felt a spark of hope.
I was scouring the streets, looking for something of value. Maybe I could sell it, if it was worth any value. I was in an unfamiliar part of the city when I came upon a pawn shop. Inside the window laid a glistening Ibanez guitar. Of course, at the time I had no idea what Ibanez was, but I was in awe. It was in amazing condition and it almost seemed to call my name. Dragonfruit, Dragonfruit, Dragonfruit, it whispered to me. No, I thought, shaking my head. We, not even myself alone, could even afford it. My 12th birthday was approaching pretty quickly... still, we didn't have the money. There were more important things to get... right?
That night, I returned to my parents to tell them about the Japanese guitar I discovered. They appeared content, yet remorseful when I mentioned it. It was later on that I actually found out that they were musicians themselves.
Like every other child, I had my heart set on the guitar. Reality was telling me that I wouldn't get it, but I stayed hopeful! Maybe my parents would pull through with the money and actually get me the guitar.
Yeah, right.
I sat on a rotting stool in our haphazard shack, waiting for my birthday toast. Sorry kids, no cake at this party! The only thing we could afford was some stale bread. It would do, I suppose.
My dad held something behind his back... somehow, I sensed it was some string instrument. Hope fluttered into my body... maybe, just maybe, it was the guitar I dreamed of.
The instrument was revealed to me... Sadness welled up inside of me. No, it was not the Ibanez guitar. I was face to face with a banjo. The banjo was rotting and reeked of garbage, so, I wouldn't be surprised if it did actually come from the garbage. It was out of tune and a couple strings were coming off.
"I know it wasn't what you wanted..." My father told me. "But it was the best we could do. You have to start small and grow into it."
Even at that, I still was upset. I began to strum the banjo wearily, and the sound came out broken and shattered. My mother bent down beside me and took the banjo her hands. She fiddled around with it -- the pun wasn't intended, I promise! -- until all the keys were on pitch and everything sounded... well, full. Of course, the banjo itself was still damaged, but I suppose you could say it worked. My parents were beaming as I strummed the banjo.
"I really think you of a profession going here!" My dad exclaimed as I continued to strum. "You almost don't need us anymore."
I didn't realize it then, but that comment was a warning for me. Still, I smiled up at my parents, feeling proud of myself, like I had accomplished something. I played with it until the day ceased and the nigh drew closer... I played until I feel asleep.
Upon awaking, I found that the shack was empty. Rain pitter-pattered against the tattered ceiling of the shack, and the roof leaked with droplets of water. A note was taped to the door, written in sloppy and quick lettering. It read:
Well, it's our time to leave. You've proved that you can take care of yourself and provide a living for yourself -- music, of course. You no longer need us. We will always be with you, Draggypoo, and don't forget it. Don't forget who you are.
Love, Mom and Dad.
No... no, they could not be gone. Why would they leave me? They had shown no sign of sickness or illness... Tears broke out from my eyes, and my chilled screams pierced the morning. I lost it then, which was one of the few times I would actually want to die.
I had to leave the shack. That was all I knew. I grabbed my dirty banjo and the note, then set off. I glanced back at the shack, tears still glistening on my face. No, there's no turning back now. That past is in the past and you can only move forward.
From then on, it was just me and the banjo. I was nomadic and vagabond... I was truly alone. In the back of mind, the Ibanez guitar was glued there. Ever so often, I would end up passing the pawn shop and I'd see the Japanese guitar sitting there, collecting dust. I could only trudge on.
All I did was scavenge the garbage for food and maybe find somewhere cozy enough to rest. But that's all I did. Walk. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. My life had no meaning. Sometimes I questioned why I was put on this planet.
So, one day I was passing my old stomping grounds. Yes, the shack. It stood there, rickety as ever. I stared at it, and it stared back at me. The painful memory of my parents leaving me swirled into my mind, and I shut my eyes. Then... I remembered the note. Maybe... yes, maybe, my parents were right. It dawned on me that maybe I should give it a try.
I set out that day to Central Park. It was a long trip, but I suppose you could say it was well worth it. I sat on a park bench with a small cup at my feet. Words flowed out my mouth in a melodic way, and then I began to strum the banjo's strings.
A few people began to pass by, but nobody really stayed for long. Occasionally, someone would toss a coin or two into my tiny cup. I swelled with happiness and continued every time someone placed a coin in that cup.
At the end of my mini not-so-formal performance, I picked up the cup. I looked inside to find three pennies, a nickle, and a dime. Eighteen cents was pretty good if you asked me. It was a start, at least.
Every afternoon I'd sit down on a park bench and play my little banjo. It was, well, my thing. More and more often people began to gather around every time. I would get a few cents each time, sometimes a dollar or two on a good day. I made up my own songs, but rarely some would bring requests with the lyrics and chords.
One day in the park, a man wearing a black, fancy suit spectated me that day. He wore dark shades, so dark you couldn't even seen the color of his eyes. You could hardly even see his eyes at all! Every once in a while his tail would flick, but other than that, he just stood there. It got creepy after a while. So, when I began to wrap up, I saw him slip something into my cup. He then walked away and others soon followed.
Picking up my cup, I discovered that someone had given me a dollar bill! Sweet! Under the dollar bill, there was a piece of paper. I turned it over, and it wasn't just any piece of paper.
It was a business card.

Blinking, I gripped the card. I looked at all the money I had gotten. I grabbed a few coins and ran to the closest payphone. I slipped a few coins in it, then dialed the number. It rang and rang and rang.
Then, someone picked up.
"Hello there!" A peppy voice said happily. "This is Fantasia Records, how may I help you?"
My hands were clammy and I didn't know what to say. Butterflies swarmed my stomach. "Umm... hi. I-I, erm... was given a, uh... c-card for this place. My, umm... name is... Dragonfruit? Ahh, yeah! It is, errr... yeah."
"Great! The boss will be happy to hear that you called. Can you come in tomorrow morning at 8 AM?"
"I, errr, suppose so..."
"Good! See you then!"
So, I went there at morning. I wasn't sure of the time, since I had no watch or reference to the clock, but I seemed to be on time. I saw the secretary that I had talked to on the phone.
"Hi there! You must be Dragonfruit, I take it?" She said to me.
I only nodded. I didn't know what to say.
"Well, the boss wants to see you. He's on the seventh floor, and it's the first room on the right."
"Okay, thank you..." I said, still hesitant and wary of my surroundings. I followed the secretary's instructions, I took the elevator up to the seventh floor and I knocked on the door.
The door swung open, and there he was. The one who was observing me. He had a stone hard glare and his words came out stiff. "Come in," The male said.
Reluctantly, I followed him inside. The office was large and spacious, yet also very... modern. I sat down in a chair across from his desk as he laid back in his seat.
"So, you're Dragonfruit?" He says to me. "I've heard a lot of rumors about you. You're a vagabond musician, eh?"
I nodded my head slowly. "I, err... suppose so," I murmured.
"Well, Dragonfruit, I'm looking to sign a deal with you. A music deal. You'll be the next big thing out there."
Stunned, I blinked and stared at him. "R-really?" I chocked out, still searching for words.
He chuckled at my remark, nodding. "Yeah, kid. Just sign here and we'll start recording some records." The boss pushed a folder towards me, a pen laid on top.
I opened up the folder and looked upon the contract. Weakly, I picked up the pen. My hand writing was shaky as I scribbled my signature on it. I only briefly read the paper, but it was enough for me. Fame. Fortune. What could be better?
"Good, good, good. We'll start recording when your ready. Are you ready?" He asked, taking the folder into his hands.
I nodded meekly.
And thus began what I refer to as "the Glory and Fame years". We recorded a few demo tracks, and everyone seemed to love the idea. Then came my first album, then the concerts, then the crazy fans.
I felt like I was on top of the world. Coming from living on the streets, I know lived in luxury. Hey, I even made a few friends along the way! And, yeah... you could say it went to my head. And maybe I did forget who I was and where I came from, or so it appeared. Internally, I was stressed. Touring was a horrible -- the screaming beans yelling in your ear is never pleasant. And yeah, it was a bit depressing. And so was I.
Like back on the streets, I trudged along. I was getting older, well, kind of. I was 20 years old when I decided to retire.
The record company decided it was best that we recorded a final album to release and have a short tour.
The last part of the tour was in Hawaii.
I had always wanted to go to Hawaii. Keep in mind, I've toured to a lot of place, but never Hawaii. It sounded like a tropical paradise and... well, relaxing.
Lucky me, I had my own private jet. I was alone, as the rest of my crew would be joining me upon arrival. We arrived on schedule at the airport, and I headed to the baggage claim. After I got my bags, I went over to where I would meet up with my crew, some of which I had befriended. I glanced back, as I could've swore I heard someone say my name. Suddenly, I bumped into someone.
"Ahh, I'm sorry!" The male said quickly. "I'm Koa," He said to me and I blinked. Did he not recognize me?
"It's, um, fine?" I said quietly, as I really wasn't one for talking. Strangely enough, we chatted a bit. The blue bean was very interesting, I must say!
Our conversation was fun, we both seemed to enjoy each other as we waited. Suddenly, a loud voice echoed through the airport.
"Attention, attention! We have some unfortunate news. Flight 000 has had a severe bug in it's system. We bring unfortunate news that it brought Flight 000 to it's destruction. We pray for the ones lost's families and the ones injured."
Wait... hold the phone! Flight 000? No, no, no... My the crew was on that plane...
That was when my phone started to ring furiously. My hands were shaky as I picked it up. "H-h-hello?" I say in a shaky voice.
"Dragon, this is the boss. The tour is off. As you might've heard... the plane crashed. We lost our secretary and hair stylist. Others were injured... Sorry DF, I know some of them were your friends, but it is what is."
I hung up with no response. I arose from my seat and left Koa.
Running out the airport, I ran and ran until I couldn't feel my legs anymore. I soon came upon this large rock that overlooked the sea. The sun was beginning to set as I plopped down on it.
Tears sprung from my eyes, and I began to choke on a sob. Why? Why did it have to be the plane my crew was on? What about the tour, the finale?
The memory of my parents flooded my mind. The note... yes, the note... Vaguely, I remembered what it read. Stay true to yourself. It dawned on my that the fame and fortune took away myself, who I truly was. I was caught up in a false fantasy. Did it really matter that the tour wouldn't continue?
No. It didn't. Because it didn't matter that the tour would be finalized. It was that my friends had died on that crash. I should be mourning for the loss of them, not my tour.
Unfortunately, the thought of loosing ones that were close to me made me become sick. I whimpered quietly. I felt like there was no meaning in my life anymore. I stood up. That was it. I couldn't bear the pain, the stress, or the depression.
I inched myself towards the edge of the rock, seeing my fate. Taking a deep breath, I prepared myself to plunge into the murky depths of the ocean.
You know how they say your life passes right before your eyes when you're about to die? Well, that happened to me.
I saw myself as a young bean with my parents in their apartment, then the street life, the Ibanez guitar --
The Ibanez guitar. Gosh, I hadn't thought about that in years. As I was famous, I got to use quality Gibson guitars, not Ibanez or anything else.
Quietly, I remembered the hope I had when I wanted it. Hope. I had to have hope. Maybe I could hope it would be better in a different life.
And maybe destiny decided that day that I wouldn't perish just yet.
Just as I began to jump, a voice called out my name. "Dragonfruit!" The voice yelled, "Don't!"
It was Koa.
His hand was placed on my shoulder before I jumped. His gentle touch soothed my body, and for once, I felt at ease.
"You, uh, forgot your luggage," He said in a soft voice, placing my bags on the ground. The made a plop sound as they hit the ground.
I turned around hesitantly, facing Koa. My face was wet and my hands were numb. There, the graceful bean smiled back at me gently. I couldn't help but give a small smile in return.
We hung out at his place for a while, since I had no where else to stay or do. I was nobody and that's how I like it. However... I still had my plane tickets to leave.
I couldn't bear to tell Koa, especially after all we had been through together. I-I just left... without saying anything... I packed my bags and I headed to the airport. I was just about to board my plane when I heard that voice again.
"Dragonfruit, wait!" He called after me.
I could hardly bear to turn around... it hurt to much, but I did.
"Don't go... I... err... ummm.. I..." He said, trying to find his words. But what he did next shocked me.
His voice came out soft and gentle, yet melodious. "Oh, won't you stay with me? 'Cause you're all I need. This is love, it's clear to see. But darling, stay with me."
Shocked, my body trembled. "Why am I so emotional? No, it's not a good look, gain some self control. And deep down I know it never works..." I sang in response, but I was so stunned I couldn't sing on. Mentally, I noted he sang the one verse wrong, but I did not make any comment about it.
"B-but... yes!" I said with excitement in my voice. I didn't return to my old stomping grounds, and it was best to start a new chapter in my life.
It was then where Koa and I became even closer. He took my under his wing and stayed with him for a while. I felt comfortable around him... like I could always talk to him if needed, and he could do the same with me.
As her friendship grew, so did our love for each other. I couldn't bear a day without Koa -- we were stuck like glue.
He proposed on Valentine's Day { what a sweetie, right?? }, which would really start the beginning of our lives together. And, yes, then came Akala. My first child was gorgeous and I couldn't be happier! Then, Demi came along and she is just as beautiful as Aka.
Maybe the Ibanez guitar was right.
Maybe there is hope.

Koa // Mate // Owned by Doggeh.
Dragonfruit and Koa have been friends for a bit before they got into a relationship. She admires his intelligence and quick thinking, which Drag sometimes which she had in her past. Often, Dragonfruit will rely on him to talk to him when she needs to. Dragonfruit always feels comfortable around him, since she doesn't open up to many willingly. They're both always there for each other. <3
Akala // Daughter // Owned by Doggeh.
As all mothers are, Dragonfruit is very overprotective of her first born, Akala. She never wants anything to happen to her and only wants the best for her. Draginfruit enjoys seeing that Aka takes after both of her and Koa at times, with her intelligence and outgoing behavior.
Demi // Daughter // Owned by ~Kitteh Cane~
Dragonfruit adores her youngest daughter... who wouldn't? Demi reminds DF of her in her teen years -- although Demi is not a teen -- when she was spunky and even a bit rebellious. Plus... what's better than having a kid that is looks someone from the infamous band, Kiss? With all their ingeniously silly makeup and costumes, Demi's markings are similar to something someone in Kiss might wear. >v>
