8 - Purple

Hey guys!
Every week I'll be posting a paint horse branded from 1-10, counting down the weeks until Christmas (or until I get summer breakXD) Each horse will be a paint mix with edits and you will have to guess its base colour to win. There may or may not be a runner up.
To win:
- guess base colour
- prettying up
- art
- creative names
I really want to see art people! And pretty forms, of course

You are allowed to enter and win up to two horses, but, if you win a horse that is branded with an even number your next horse has to be branded odd.

Each horse will hopefully be posted Friday and end in exactly one week. All forms will be judged finished or not (unless there is some reason for disqualification) and there will be absolutely no extensions unless I am unable to post.

Story: I was outside tending to my horse [url=link]name[/url], when I heard a shrill cry from the other side of the fence.  I turned to see a brilliant Arabian mare galloping out in the open with a filthy smoldering rug draped over her back.  She seemed to be hurt and wild. 'Maybe she was in a fire?' I thought to myself, as I left my horse to attempt to catch her.  As I approached, she seemed completely...  (finish the story. (you only have to guess her markings)

- Her legs are black from the fire! This has nothing to do with her markings
- Her paint markings seem to only be on her bottom half: ...... _ _ _ a _ _
- What are those markings on her back? Not paint markings!: ...... _ _ c _ _ _ ......OR...... _ _ v _ _ _ e......_ _ _ p _ _
- If you want you can add that she had badger face.

Story:[leah's PoV]I was outside tending to my horse Alpine, when I heard a shrill cry from the other side of the fence. I turned to see a brilliant Arabian mare galloping out in the open, a filthy smoldering rug draped over her back. She seemed to be hurt and wild. 'Maybe she was in a fire?' I thought to myself, as I left my horse to attempt to catch her. As I approached, she seemed completely... calm, I didn't expect that she was strangely relief or even curistory. It took me a few minutes to realize her interest was in the stallion behind me. She didn't really seem to notice me. I don't think she's seen another horse in while since the looks of it or maybe it's because she's in a strange place i thought to myself seeing another horse is comforting. I slowly tried to reach for her and she back up some. She looked frighten by me, I wanted to help her I was scared she was going to bolt when a notice a black and white horse crept up from behind me and whinnied at her. She whinnied back but it was much quieter then his. He went up closer and nuzzled her, the mare no longer to seem to want to bolt but the frighten look didn't fall from her face. Maybe the reason why she is this way was because of a human. The thought put a bad taste in my mouth, in fact it was just sickening. I push the thought to the back of my head. Whatever happened she needs help, I can't stand the thought of the mare running around injured. Then I get a idea I grab the lead rope on Alpine and walk towards the barn. I turn my head to look at the mare she retentively follows Alpine. I smile a bit at the mare, my plan had worked... well for now. I don't want to count my eggs before they hatch and I also don't have any wood to knock on. I reach the barn and all is going well. I slowly open the door so I don't scare the mare. Luckily most of the horse were out at a show with my sister and the one that were left were Roseus, Specter, Iris and of course Alpine. Roseus is pretty aggressive so I didn't want around the other horses, Iris is retired, Specter spooks to easy and Alpine was left behind because we hadn't shown he yet. Naturally, my parent didn't want my sister Ashley being the one to try it out. When I door is opened all the way I slowly bring Alpine in. The mare stops dead in her track I stop and look at the mare. Every with Alpine's whines the mare doesn't budge. I jinxed it didn't I? I quickly think of the one thing that horses love. Treats. I leave Alpine again and head out to the feed room. I quickly find it, I do live here with mean I know nearly every turn of the barns. I look around, grain, grain, grain. Gosh this is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I swear me would only have this much grain because I needed treat. There! My eyes found the treats and quickly grab them. Well I hope she likes peppermint... I turn around to find Alpine waiting outside the door ear perked. I just I'm not the only one who knows my way around... Man that stallion learns quickly. On gosh Leah! Stop gonking about Alpine, the mare remember! I scold myself. I quickly walk back to the where the mare was. To my relief she was still there. I left out a sigh, I open the bag of treat and take out a cake shaped treat that reeks of peppermint. I mare eyes down the treat I place it on the ground near the door, the mare inches forward and reaches down for the treat. She sniff it and then eat it. I put another treat closer to the door this time she repeats the same steps as before. I keep on doing that till the mare in a few inches inside the barn. I give Alpine a treat for being such a good boy and began to lead him again. I turn to see if she's following and I catch sight of the flashy Arabian mare behind us. I headed toward the indoor ring, I figured I'd let her out there so she'd have space so she would be freaked out like in stall but still not be inside.
I sit down at the viewing area for the indoor arena. I recently got her in there, had tried to take Alpine out with me but the mare galloped around and whinnied having a fit. Alpine turn around and faced the door and whinnied at the door. Then he looked at me and then the door. His way of telling me she was acting up because of his disappear and opened the door and let Alpine in. Somehow he got her to calm down because now she is calmly standing beside him. There was quite a height different between the horses Alpine stands at 16.0 hands and the mare was about 4.1 - 4.3 hand still much shorter then him though. I just got back from telling my parents about the mare they said they were going to call the vet and that should watch the mare in case some thing were to happen. I decided to say up her to give the mare some time to get used to the new surroundings. For the most part the mare didn't seemed to move much, she is sticking close to Alpine. They almost seem like old friends like they known each other before and the most part they could be true. We had adopted Alpine from Cottonwood Ranch about year ago, making him now 5 years old, and his past was rather simply he grown up on a ranch on the mountains was broken to ride and then was given Cottonwood Ranch to get a good home. The rise of time until the vet came was rather uneventful even once a while the mare would freak up and run around then Alpine would whinnie and calm her down. I could have been a better horse to be with at the time Alpine is calm and wise horse. Then I heard the sound of foot step and I see a brown short mess of hair-headed boy appear, Drake.
"The vets here" He said. Drake is one of my parent's friends son, he often come here to help out here. I just the call with vet also with to him. He is a year older then as well as being several inches taller. Me and him were close friend because of our family's closest and we often talked. He had a sister two years younger named Nicole but she was closer to Ashley then me.
"Well that was quick" I said as I got up and followed Drake down to the door of the indoor area we after a greeting to the vet, Liz, we opened the doors and let the Liz in the indoor door ring to take a look at the mare. Drake informed me that my parent where in there already and that were going to stay by the door to the open it in case the mare with wild. I told him they I doubt she would, but he replied it was better safe then sorry. I couldn't argue with that. Drake was right because in a few minute the once calm mare was freaking out. Drake who was closer to the door at the time jerk it open enough for use to get in. The mare was running around again this time not even Alpine could calm her. I just I was feeling heroic on my next plans.
"Liz, Mom and Dad you should leave she only been around me maybe I could tell to calm her down." I turned around and added to Drake "Maybe you should go too..." The way Drake looked at me was priceless, I think he honestly thought I finally lost it and that my bravely was masked suicide.
"I'll stay here at the door..." He said. I figured he wouldn't leave so really if was not surprised in the slightest. I took the bag of treat that I jammed in my pocket when I went to get my parents. I speed walked over towards the mare keeping a bit of distance. I took a treat from the put in my and outstretched my arm towards the mare. The mare ran straight as me at a full gallop. At the time I was sure she wasn't going to stop. In the hope of not being trampled by her I started to back away, I hit right into the fence. I looked at the mare she was to close to hope for escape, I was going to dead like this there was so much I had to live from. I squint my eyes shut my outstretched arm shaking, please lord have it be quick... They I feel a moistness on my hand I open my eyes to see the mare standing right in front of me. I sigh in relief then, I looked at Drake who was of course video taping it with a snug smirk plastered on his I'm going to kill that boy alright. My face towards red with embarrassment the mare whinnies and looks at the bag. Nevermind, that he'll have his later. I smile at my thought of vengeance as I take out another treat and put it in my outstretched the mare eats it quickly. I spent the next hour feeding the mare treats, Drake was giving Alpine treats so he didn't feel left out, and trying to gain her trust. I got to the point were I was at least able to touch her without her freaking out. My parents told Liz to leave and that we'd call her when the mare was approachable and comfortable around people.
'I'm not vet but I sure that soot for the fire isn't helping her any" Drake said as he examined her.
"That's a good idea, expect how would we get her in a the wash stall?" I asked
"We don't" Drakes said I look at him confused for a second on then get it. In all of a few minutes we gather what we needed supplies to clean her up. The mare looks interested at the supplies, Alpine who is few inches from her looks up as well. It took a while for me and Drake to clean up the mare, I could tell she didn't quite trust us yet. I couldn't help but feel bad for the mare trapped in a strange new place with strange people she near encountered before. By the time we left the sky was a covered by a black blanket it was a starless and moonless night. The mare I thought to myself, I really need to start calling her something she going to be here for a while.

[Sera's PoV]As the day faded into the night and the people had left, I couldn't help but be frighten and nervous, in some ways even angry. Normally a good night's rise would be all I need to calm my thoughts but this time was different. I couldn't help but feel I should be under the midnight sky not in this building. This whole thing has just put me in shock, I don't really know what to even do. Everything has happened so fast.
"Alpine?" I ask the air around me I'm almost certain he's asleep.
"Yeah?" Replies the stallion behind me, maybe not.
"What are people like? Do you think I can trust them?" I ask the stallion.
"You've never been around people before" he asks surprise seems to be in his tone. I stay silent for a few minute unsure how to answer. It's true I had been around people before. I remember as a filly being beside my mother who was being lead by a man in a hat. They separated me from her and continued to lead her into a building, I made all kinds of ruckus. I never saw her again. Some say died of old age and it was a injury that did her away. Other say that she worked herself to death. Whatever happened, I sweared on my life that they who pay for what they had done, I blamed her death on them. As a yearling was a sure hellion, as I as I got the chance I escaped that ranch and never thought twice about it. I never thought that would be the thing to come back to bite me in the rump.
"Yes..." I finally answer him, trying to say calm. Angry is starting to rear it's ugly head, the confusion was making that side of me bubble up to surface. I don't want to snap at him he hasn't done anything to deserved it, he's been kind to me this whole time.
"You have nothing to fear Leah and Drake are good people" He says, like he knows about my past. That's the one thing that frightens we they way he always seems to know stuff I've never told he. My guess is Leah and Drake are the two people in here before. I think i can trust them, they seemed fine. There was a few people I didn't like and that was that women they called 'Liz'. She just came in here, I was curious about her at first. But then she tried at hurt me! I didn't even do anything to her! I tried to kick her by the other people there move her out of the way before I could. I took it upon myself to tell her that I didn't want her anywhere around me ever.

I had spent the early morning googling horse names, I found a few that fit her well. I want another look at her again to figure out the name. I am nearly sure I'm going to use Sera which is the shorten version of Seraphina which means serpent or burning one in Latin. It seems to just work for her. The one thing I don't have any ideas for is her show name, I am most likely going to consult Drake on that one. Back to the mare, she had spent the night with Alpine because of anxiousness when being without another horse. Normally I would have put her with another mare but I didn't know how she would react and the poor mare's been through enough already. I had decided to check on the mare that morning so like normal I made my way down the stairs to the indoor ring that she was staying in for now. Drake said he would be coming over today after he's chores where done, last night when he left.

Me and Alpine hadn't talked very much since the human left. There wasn't very much to talk about. I spent almost of the time pushing back the painful memories of my past the ones that are fresh in my mind, recent ones. I hadn't done a well part because I can still remember it all vividly...
My time of freedom and peace was over I thought as I stood looking at the familiar barn. The barn that they mother had died in. This wasn't a 'good to be home' thing it was the opposite. I hear the man yell and then a women walks out I froze it couldn't be. This wasn't the women I remembered. She was very skinny and her eyes had not shine in them, it was almost sickening to see, something was wrong. None the less the women easily walk over when she saw me with hand with to her mouth and tear began to form in her eyes. She walked over to me and gently strokes my muzzle, yes it had to be Esperanza with face was the same as it was before.
"My little Fury is back" She whisper as tears rolled back her face, Fury was the name these people called me. They had put me out in a small field facing the barn. I was always outside, I really don't know why I guess they didn't have enough stalls. Esperanza came to visit me everyday he would talk to me and sometimes even give me treat, they were always peppermint. When came she give me the rug. She loved me. But everything the man walk back he looked at me with hatred. He still relented me for the last time we met I kicked him. He always tied to get rid of me but Esperanza wouldn't have it. I didn't really care about him, I loved Esperanza and I would do anything to help her. When she visit stop I feel lonely and worried. They said she was fighting something named Cancer. If I ever meet Cancer I was sure I would killing it for harming her. Then she came to saw me more and I was relieved to see her but I can tell she was ill. I can tell she tried to hide it but there's only so much you could do to help ghostly white skin and a strong limp. I was more worried then before. They said she was a fighter and they she would make it though. But every fighter has to stop fighting, Esperanza had lose that fight. A week later Esperanza died, I mourned her. The man blamed her death on me, he said that she was fine until I came. For him this was the final straw even if she loved me dearly, he was going to get rid of me. And he wanted his revenge since the first time I kicked him to escape. He sold me to a place called a slaughter pen.
"Do you want the rug she has" The man buying me asked.
"No leave it on her! Just get this mare out of here!" He snarled. I was happy he didn't take it this was the only thing had left of Esperanza and sure don't want him having it! I remember my time most of my time at the slaughter pen, with little detail. We were all in a small group, hardly enough space to move then we were all packed on truck. Then we were brought to a small ranch like area. They sorted us by some weird system either way it decided who would stay in the barn and who would be outside. I was chosen to put outside, it was a cruel reminder of my past life at the couple's ranch. Day passed and nothing change but a few horse were taking out and hay was throw in the pen. I was so desperate for freedom from the small pen, I could practically taste it. I had my escape down with the finest detail, I would get all of the horse out. And of course when that chance I took it. WIP


Mythical Creature: My creature's is named Achlus, which means a mist, dimness, darkening in Greek. She created as a creature for the time of ancient Greece making she is a part would be a part of Greek mythology. She looks like a normal human at first glance they you notice that her eyes are hidden behind a cloud of a mist. The myth is that Achlus had beautiful blue eyes, every boy who saw with fell in love her. In fact she was so pretty that one of the gods fall in love with her. Achlus was a player though. She may have been different if she knew he was a god. But she didn't she she rejected him. The god of course was angry he covered her eyes with a thick mist so no one could see them. Thus, nobody feel in love in fact they were scared of her. Achlus fled to a more remote place and cried. So cried so much that the lake Copais began to from around her.

What drew you to her?: The burnt cape and her blaze. I also saw her at the last adopt where you put the preview of her. Then waited for her to be posted... Yeah not stalkerish at all...XD
Why do you want her?: Where do I begin... First, she remind of one of my characters who has red hair (and I mean RED) and eyes who fights dragons. Which after looking and posting this I realized that. I love the mystical background with the dragon/fire themed named and mythical creature. Who doesn't love this horse she's drop-dead gorgeous! I also have a thing for red fiery colored horses XD. I also feel like she would be quite a character among my other horse. They would be either good friend or hate each other's guts. No happy medium. I love the backstory on her too! Did I mention the character has a cape too... I also love the marking that she has they seem to fit her perfectly she is so unique. I also been wanting to have an Arabian and I also love white marking like Appaloosas, Pintos, Paints and etc.


I have a guest coming over today so I'll be on and off with this. But, I'll try my best to finish it by tonight.

Story:

Nyra's POV

I was outside tending to my horse [url=link]Golden Hawk[/url](WIP), when I heard a shrill cry from the other side of the fence. I turned to see a brilliant Arabian mare galloping out in the open with a filthy smoldering rug draped over her back. She seemed to be hurt and wild. 'Maybe she was in a fire?' I thought to myself, as I left my horse to attempt to catch her. As I approached, she seemed completely enraged. Her nostrils flared, her hooves stamped the ground and her eyes were narrowed into angry slits. I stuck out a hand and she snorted angrily, I assumed she would have run for me if she had not spotted the trough. Her sides were heaving and smoke covered her face, she must be thirsty. I moved Golden Hawk away from the trough, much too her distaste, and waited. The mare slowly made her way to the water, she had barley even reached the trough when she shoved her muzzle into the cool water. I grabbed my lasso from Golden Hawk's saddle, which sat on the fence behind me. I twirled it once, twice and the as it twirled for the third time I clucked. The mare's head shot up and my lasso looped over her head. She leapt back, her eyes filled with fury, but she was hurt and tired. That tough little mare fought but she had nothing left. I managed to get near her, after she was too tired to kick, my hand reached out. Her teeth flashed out and a felt a sharp pain, I grumbled and looked down at the deep slice. "Chill will ya!" I sighed. I flipped my hand up once more and had it against her nose before she could chomp me again. Our eyes met and now my touch almost seemed to reassure her, she allowed me to lead her back to the barn. I had to clean her up, get her wounds treated and some food into her. Where too start!

Dragons' POV

How dare they do that! I knew they did it on purpose, I saw the flame in their hand. I watched them set it to the hay, watched the barn go up in flames...watched them grin as they left and I nearly died. Good thing I was strong and determined, it had taken a lot to smash my door down. Luckily I was alone in the stable, the other horses had been taken out to the paddocks beforehand, I had wondered why the groom left me in. The reason for all this was somewhat unclear to me. I did understand that there had been some sort of mix up, the daughter of a world famous arabian mare and super star APH stallion, had been swapped out for another of the same breed. I was to be shipped to a wealthy man who intended to use me like a machine, show me and then make me have a foal each year. I instead ended up at a kindly barn that bred all types of horses and showed them sometimes. When I arrived the knew when I stepped out of the trailer, this was not the 9 year old grey tobiano arabian/APH they had been expecting. They had me for months while people tried to sort things out, my intended owner lived in Russia and I was in Ontario/Canada. The people quickly fell in love with my fiery spirit and fierce temper, "she has a burning heart, like a dragon" they would say whenever I had a temper tantrum. Nearly a year later when things were almost sorted out, the rich owner requested that I be sent to him. The humans had grown to love me and refused. After almost another year of dispute and court, it was decided. I would stay at the accidental barn. I wasn't sure how it came to be, I was sure that rich man would take me. I didn't care though, I was safe here and would never leave here. WIP

Mythical Creature:

What drew you to her?: Well the fact that she is Arabian was a big factor. I love Arabians for one, plus my own mare is a quarter Arab but she look and acts like an Arabian. I also noticed her scratches, horses with scratches/scars always appeal to me because they look tough.

Story:
I was outside tending to my horse Cinder, when I heard a shrill cry from the other side of the fence. I turned to see a brilliant Arabian mare galloping out in the open with a filthy smoldering rug draped over her back. She seemed to be hurt and wild. 'Maybe she was in a fire?' I thought to myself, as I left my horse to attempt to catch her. As I approached, she seemed completely and utterly terrified, but also curious. I looked at Cinder and gently stroked her neck before leaving her side and taking a few hesitant steps towards the young mare.

She backed away slightly, eyes wild as she watched my every move. "It's alright, I'm a friend," I said softly, putting up a open-faced hand.

Cinder steps up behind me, nickering softly and laying her head gently on my shoulder, as if telling the mare that I can be trusted. I reach up and place my hand gently on Cinder's chin, silently thanking her for her help as the mare steps forward slowly.In a few minutes, she is close enough for me to reach up and touch her. I run my fingers lightly over her neck, and though she flinches she doesn't back away. It's when my hand grabs the corner of the tattered rug that she turns aggressive, baring her teeth and whinnying sharply.

I move away quickly and Cinder steps in front of me slightly. This is one mare I certainly won't be putting out with Oogie anytime soon. But now the question is, how do I coax her into the barn, and convince her to let me take off her old rug? Sighing softly I take Cinder's lead from my pocket and clip it to her halter. The mare who came doesn't have one, and even if she did I wouldn't try to lead her without someone else there.

Cinder looks back at the mare and nickers again as she follows me to the barn, and the young mare eventually follows us. I finger the sugar cubes in my pocket as we make our way to the barn. Cinder and Esphino know better than to try and get them, but Oogie doesn't. Not that he really cares, that is.

When the mare hesitates halfway through the doorway of the barn, I turn back to her. Cinder's stall is in the back of the barn, and if I leave the mare might run. I frown and then tie Cinder to a post about halfway down the barn's aisle, near Esphino's stall. I turn back to the mare and grab onto a sugar cube, pulling it out as I get closer to her. She whinnies sharply and rears, but surprisingly her rug doesn't fall, and I wonder if it is tied around her, but I can see nothing to indicate such.

"Calm down, it's okay," I whisper, dropping the sugar cube on the ground and putting up my open-faced hands.

I don't want to hurt her, and she seems to see this, placing her front hooves on the ground again and taking a hesitant step towards the fallen treat. I smile slightly and step back. It's a small victory, to get her to be even slightly comfortable around me, but it's a victory nonetheless.

As I move back towards Cinder and Esphino, she moves forward. In a few moments she's inside the barn completely and seems to have calmed down quite a bit since I first saw her, even though her eyes are still frightened. My eyes travel around the barn as she reaches for the sugar cube, and I realize why she might be frightened. If her burnt rug, and her own burns, are any indication, it seems she was in a barn fire. I shudder to think what might have happened to any other horses with her, and am suddenly thankful that we only have electric lighting in the barn for night, and that most light during the day comes from large windows and the almost constantly open barn doors.

A few minutes later, the mare looks up at me from her hunt for more sugar cubes. Her eyes are sad, frightened and almost angry.

Fira's Pov

I don't understand it. She seems nice, and the other mare told me she is, but I don't know if I can believe her. Every human I've ever met was mean and cruel. They left me to die in the fire, and before that they set dogs on me when I wouldn't behave.

I watch her every move, but seeing her with the other mare and the stallion, I want to trust her. She might be the one who can help me. But she tried to take my blanket from me. No one takes my blanket. It's the only comfort I have in the world.

I take another step closer to her, hesitating slightly. Can this human help me? Can I trust her to help? I want to, but I don't know if I can.

Her bright colors and burnt rug had me curious, and I fell in love when I got a closer look at her design.
Why do you want her?
She's absolutely gorgeous and I honestly love paints and arabians.
