By Halloween evening

We hide in the dark, the whispering forest, keeping to our own kind, sending the howl that join us together, the growl that tears us apart. We laugh and sing as we dance among the stars, the youngest search the sky for mars, the eldest tell stories by the fire, tales of mystery, of all things true and false, or thing that creep and things that crawl and thanks that stalk about. We hear the call, telling us its time, time to gather by the fire, young and old and in between all looking to rank higher. Finally we are allowed to go, the steady thump surrounds us, as we all run together, working as one, we go on the journey, the journey to the winter lands. The snow is fresh and soft and it melts under our paws, as we all pad to the den, safe and sound and warm again.
(Sorry if you don't like it but I worked hard and I love it.)
