Name:
Seraphina
Gender:
Female
Necklace item:
A paw charm, a leopard paw
Reasoning:
"What do you mean, I have to leave you? I want to stay with you!" cried the baby kitsu, "Don't send me away!"
With that, she ran at her mother, clinging desperately to her paw. The huge paw, her mothers paws dwarfed her tiny body. One day, if she was lucky, Sera would have paws to rival her mothers. But that day was a long way off still. Her own paws could not compete for years, instead they were soft, delicate, baby paws.
With a heavy heart, her mother started to explain. "You have to understand, I don't want you to go. However, noone must know who you are. You must hide. Find a way to survive on your own, or get someone to take you in. It is the only way. People are after me, I am a wanted kitsu. I tried too hard to unravel the secrets that hold this world together, and now they want to capture me. They will get you too, if you stay by my side. If only I could be with you, my darling. Run, tell them you escaped from a circus. Tell whoever asks that humans had you, and you have no idea who your parents are. You must deny all knowledge about me, and your father. For your own sake." All the while, little Seraphina was bawling her eyes out. Distraught is too gentle a way to describe the torment she was feeling. Her whole world was crumbling around her very eyes.
"There is one thing I must give you, before you go. It is very important, and you have to guard it until you see me again. Take my necklace, this charm is special. It is the only link I can hold between us. The paw is the symbol of our family. There is a secret held inside that paw, one that I will give my life to protect, and so should you. I know it is a lot to ask, but you are the only one who can keep it safe. They are too close to finding me for it to be safe in my possession. Now run, take nothing but the necklace, flee this place, and live."

Those were the last words my mother spoke to me. I ran that day, ran until I could run no more. I found solace in a vagrant kitsu, she adopted me as her own, raised me, even if she struggled. Maternal instincts were not easy to come by for her. While never forgetting my past, I somehow managed to live a happy childhood. Unconventional upbringing, yes. Scarred from my past, yes. In my mind though, this only made me stronger. Made me ready to find out what happened to my family. I still carry the necklace, I never take it off for anything. It is time. Time to return home. Time to face my destiny. Time to save my family from the monsters of my childhood.
