Name:Alfonso
Name Meaning:According to Behind the name this name MAY mean "Noble and Ready"
Name Origin:Spanish / Italian
Why Alfonso?:"When I heard the story of how this little lad was found near an Italian Restaurant, Alfonso immediately struck in my thought process. What better name for a little Chinese Crested found near an Italian Restaurant than an Italian name? He sure acts like an Alfonso too, always 'ready' to go for walks, eat loads of food, and get a treat even when he doesn't deserve it. Alfie also acts like nobility, expecting to be carried everywhere, his meals given to him whenever he so pleases (He will stand by the kitchen doorway leading into the living room and bark at me, sitting down like a little king, and then look behind him at the fridge like 'Alright, subject, it is meal time, feed me... Now!' so his name really does fit him."
Nickname:Alfie
Gender:Male
Age:4 Years (Estimated)
Breed:Chinese Crested
Owner:Marcie Wellington (Art and Design by Ebonpyre, Marcie belongs to me)
Personality:Alfie is a tough little cookie, and nothing seems to faze him. You can yell at him for something and he will sit there and give you a doggy grin and wag his tail, then ten minutes later he will be into the same thing.
He is a sweet heart, and is super energetic, but is afraid of almost everything. The garbage disposal, thunder, loud noises, cats, other dogs, the vacuum... And so much more. He can be a gentleman when he wants to be, and is considered smart... But only in the wrong situations. You cannot train him at all, he won't listen, but when it comes to getting into things he isn't supposed to he can figure it out in a pinch.
He hates baths and will do anything short of biting to get out of it. He loves to watch TV even if he has no idea what the people are saying or doing, he just enjoys company. And he loves to play ball and going for a walk. He has a hard time adjusting to new things, so being in the new home scared him and made him less friendly than he was in the kennel, but he can usually get over it a few weeks later with a normal routine.
Alfie is very trusting and no matter what it seems anyone does to him he will still love you and have his tail wagging ready for a pet or two and a scratch behind his ear.
Back-story:"I lived in a comfortable home for most of my life. My mother was a Chinese Crested, a champion, or so I was told. She had blue ribbons everywhere, and so did my pop, but he was never in the picture. She took care of us, she and her humans, who would cuddle and hold us... I only remember their smells, which grow more and more faint as the years go by.
I do, however, remember adoption day very clearly. I was playing with my siblings when one by one each of them were picked up by this person here, that couple there... and soon it was just me. I sat in the front yard of the big house, my mother looking at my with sympathy. The light was growing dimmer and dimmer as the sun began to set a woman who was very old came hobbling up the drive, and when I looked at her I knew I was going home.
My life for the past three years with Gramma was extremely good. I wasn't a show dog like my parents, Gramma didn't care about that, no... She gave me a warm bed to lay on at night, though usually I ended up in her bed with her, and I had all the food I could eat, a big back yard to run around in. She couldn't play much, but her granddaughter and grandsons were there to play fetch with me, and in return I chased and wrestled them.
My favorite part of living with Gramma out of everything was the stories. Her husband was in a war, she couldn't exactly remember which one, but the stories she had heard from him were amazing. It made me want to be a warrior dog myself!
My memories are hazy of some of our other adventures we had together, and as the years went by she stopped moving as fast as she had, which wasn't fast at all in terms of dogs, and one day I woke up and she wasn't breathing... At all.
Her grandchildren and children came over later that day, letting themselves in as usual. I could hear their voices call out for Gramma as usual, and I sat there next to her prone form and whined, she wasn't responding to them like usual, something was very wrong. When they came into her room, her daughter cried out, the children trying to get in, but their father not letting them.
Days passed, my bowl went empty, my water dwindled, and Gramma was gone. None of the children were paying attention to me as usual, the adults talked amongst themselves, and so many strange people came in and out of the house. I took my chance when the door was open and snuck out, running through the streets, sleeping where I could, begging when I could, and digging through trash.
I got into several fights, my wounds always healing for I ran, it wasn't worth it most of the time to fight over a bone, or scrap of burger. I was at this lovely place with stringy food when these nice people took me in and put me in a cage, and then this nice lady in a pink dress came and picked me up, and I knew I was home again. I now live with Marcie and I couldn't be happier. It isn't like my home with Gramma, but... I love her all the same
