name:
Laguz

name origin:
"The Laguz are a race of people who can shift from human-like forms into animal forms. When in human form, they still have certain animal-like physical traits, such as tails, wings, ears, and colored stripes on their faces. Laguz are known in legend as the "Children of Strength," as they possess a greater deal of physical might compared to the Beorc. Laguz are also capable of living for far longer than beorc."
Text from: x
**Note that Laguz will not possess the powers of laguz and that beorc is simply the laguz name for human.

gender:
Female

sexuality:
Laguz is heterosexual and heteroromantic

personality:
Laguz is commonly described as an imp and an energetic little spitfire. She has little concern for those around her when she does something, but if that something has bad results, she finds herself overwhelmed with guilt and does her best to fix the problem she's created. Unfortunately, not all those problems can be solved easily, and she's lost more than few friends because of that. Still, she's positive, outgoing, and adventurous and doesn't let anything get her down.
She also has a deep love for flora and fauna alike, specifically ferns and trees in the flora division and songbirds and small rodents in the fauna division. Laguz has a crocodile fern named David, a mandarin orange tree named Lucia, and a pet rat named Lissa. One day, she hopes to be able to have a pet capybara named either Maribelle or Basilio, depending on its gender.

likes: Forests, forest animals, playing, eating, laughing, having fun
dislikes: Being treated like a child, bad memories, unnecessary hate, peanut butter

history:
Laguz was born to very interesting parents. Her mother was almost just like her: spunky and fun. Her father on the other hand was timid and something of a worry wart. One thing was for sure; despite the polar opposition of their personalities, they both loved Laguz very much. They treated her like an adult, which Laguz appreciated. Their love for each other made it that much harder when they passed.
Her parents passed away when she was six years old. There was a severe strain of chronic wasting disease being passed around that spring. First, Laguz's father contracted it, then her mother. They knew death was imminent for them, so they told Laguz to leave. They told her if she didn't leave, she would die, too. She replied that if she contracted the disease, they would always be together. Her mother told her that it wasn't time for her to go yet. For some reason, Laguz decided to accept that, and she ran far away from their home and into the woods, where she lived until she met Janaff.

deerssert's fondest memory:
"My fondest memory...? Well, I have so many fond memories... Oh, I know! The first time I met my best friend, Janaff!"

The small deerssert strutted along the forest path proudly, as she did every day. This forest was her home, it had been for four years now, and she was its queen. All the inhabitants of her forest knew that.
A chickadee sang on a branch above the little deer, a song that swelled with harmony and radiance. A song for me. The deer thought happily, continuing her trek.
"Good morning, Laguz!" A tiny voice squeaked. She looked down.
"Well hello there Don." Laguz smiled. It was Don, one of the few moles that lived in the forest. He was shielding his eyes with his claws.
"Have you heard? There's a newcomer to the forest. He's not coming to stay, but he's been here for about a day now, making friends with the other animals." Don said.
"Hm, no I haven't heard. Perhaps I should go meet him." Laguz mused, wondering who this stranger was.
"I haven't seen him myself, but they say he looks kind of like you. Except he has wings and fangs like a snake. Quaila wanted nothing to do with him, but she's a quail, and those quails are always too nervous for their own good." Don continued, not noticing Laguz's far-off look.
"Like me?" She asked suddenly. Another deerssert? They weren't all wiped out?
"Yeah. Like I said, I haven't seen him. He's over by Mira's den last I heard." Don said.
"I think I will go meet him, then." Laguz said. "Thanks for the chat, Don. See you later." She nodded politely to the mole and set off at a brisk trot, not waiting for his reply.

She reached Mira's den about fifteen minutes later. The black bear was watching her two cubs, Bjor and Tibarn, play with the friendly newcomer. Laguz's heart skipped a beat as she watched them. The newcomer was indeed a deerssert, just like her. He had a mop of curly hair on his head, darker than her mohawk, a pair of beautiful wings, long fangs, and sharp horns. Still, he wasn't intimidating at all. In fact, he looked a little silly playing with two bear cubs.
She slowly drew closer, aiming for a better look, when he noticed her. His silver eyes met her green ones and he slowed, letting the bears paw at him without a fight.
Laguz felt her tail fall and her ears lay back. She was actually feeling shy!
The newcomer gracefully moved over to her and looked down at her without a word. She looked up at him, partially curious and partially afraid. What if he didn't like her? He was the only one of her kind she had seen in four years. It would crush her if he didn't like her.
Suddenly, he smiled wide, unhinging his jaw. It looked so ridiculous that Laguz couldn't help but laugh. The newcomer quickly fixed his jaw, but remained smiling at her.
"My name is Janaff." He said after a moment. "What's your name?"
Laguz noticed he didn't say 'little one' or a similar phrase. This pleased her. "My name is Laguz." She smiled back at him, finding herself to be enjoying his company.
"And what are you doing out here all alone, Laguz?" Janaff asked, lowering his head to talk on her level.
"I'm not alone. I have my friends, the animals. But I live here in this forest." She beamed.
"And what of your parents?"
Laguz's radiant expression faltered. Her parents. "Well, they're gone... passed away. Four years ago." She murmured.
Janaff instantly realized what the cause of death was. Everyone remembered that spring vividly. The memories still burned fresh in the minds of some... like Laguz.
"Well, Laguz, I believe the forest isn't exactly a good place for a young deerssert like yourself to live..." Janaff said, choosing his words carefully. "Perhaps you'd like to come and live with me. I could be like a big brother to you." He wasn't sure why he was offering to the little deerssert, he realized. Perhaps it was because he knew how important an older figure was to young creatures, and that he didn't want Laguz to be deprived of the relationship he never received. He was just like her; an orphan infatuated with the forest.
"Really? You would do that?" She asked incredulously. Not only did he like her, he wanted her to live with him! A deerssert! "Gosh, I think I'd love to. Do you live nearby?"
"Yes. I just moved here. I live right by the western edge of the forest. It's like my backyard, really. That's why I chose to live there." Janaff smiled. She was interesting. Spunky. Pleasant. But he also felt an air of need about her, like she wanted something badly but couldn't say it.
"So I could still come visit my friends?" Laguz asked, green eyes sparkling.
"Of course. I'd never offer if you had to leave your friends." Janaff smiled.
"Well, okay! But first I have to get my things from my den." Laguz said. "Come on." She trotted away, tail flicking. Janaff chuckled to himself as he followed her, giving a goodbye nod to Mira, Bjor, and Tibarn.
He marveled at the forest as they walked. It was pristine, untouched... and green. He also noted how easily he would get lost if not for Laguz guiding him. She, a deerssert ten years younger than him, knew this vast expanse of green better than she knew herself. It was amazing and inspiring.
"Here." Laguz stopped before a small cave dug into the earth. It looked more like a badger den than anything else. Quickly, she burrowed in and collected her things; a fallen antler from a young deer, a rabbit skin that she had found near an abandoned wolf den, a brilliant blue feather, and a necklace made from various things like bones, leaves, and flowers. "I could never leave these behind. They're my treasures." She smiled for a moment, a smile of bliss, but it passed in a blink. "I'll lead us back to Mira's den, then you can lead us to your house."
Janaff nodded once, preparing to follow her again. He noticed how sure of herself she was. He never saw confidence like that in the ten-year olds he knew.
Laguz led him back to Mira's den and they switched places as had been discussed. Slowly, the trees began to thin until they opened to a wide yard of tall green grass. In the middle of the yard was a beige house. It was nothing special, but to Laguz, it was a castle.
"Here we are." Janaff said, looking down at Laguz.
"Thank you, Janaff." She said softly, looking up at him. To his surprise, her eyes were watery. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it, Laguz." He said, equally soft.
"We're going to be best friends. I just know it." Laguz said, gently butting her head against his shoulder.
Janaff's heart bloomed. "We sure are."

Sorry the quality is so bad, I rushed because I knew I wouldn't have time to do it tomorrow ;-; I also simplified the colors because these markers suck aaaand I forgot Janaff's horns
Absolutely none of my markers matched Janaff's colors, so I had to improvise... so he looks terrible

name: Alice (after Alice in Wonderland)
gender: female
deersert's fondest memory: Alice has an older brother- he's only about two year older than her, but when she was very small he seemed huge. He would lead her everywhere, and her fondest memory is of struggling after him on young hooves as he trotted through a snow-laden forest, with the sun shining through icicles and the snowdrifts huge and glowing soft white. It was a beautiful scene, and she treasures it to this day c:
-note;; brother was made up for this form, he doesn't actually exist

Extras;;
personality: Alice is very curious, and loves to explore the world around her. Being YFS, she will never mature, and so will never lose this childlike look on her surroundings. She hates it when others treat her like a baby, and keeps her hair short because whn it was long, everyone used to keep ruffling through it. It really annoyed her, so one day Alice cut it very short. Her parents were furious, but it grew back. Alice keeps it short now.

likes: ice cream, the beach, snow, stars, hugs, Disney films, bubbles
dislikes: being treated as a baby, spicy foods

ask Alice:
Hello, Alice! How are you?

I'm fine, thanks.... how 'you?
I'm great. Now, Alice, how old are you?
How old are you? *giggles*
Um... thank you. I'm just here to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind...
*still laughing* how... old... are you?!
Very funny. Moving on... what's it like, being YFS?
I... I don't really know... I've never been any other way. What's it like being big?
I couldn't describe it- but surely it's hard, being young all the time?
Mummy read me a book once, it said don't matter who you are nor whatchoo look like, so long as somebody loves you.
And that's very true. So tell me, wht has your experience been like of being a foal forever?
I love it!
I'm very glad to hear it. That was Alice, everyone; the little girl forever!

deerssert's fondest memory:

his fondest memory would be when he had wandered over to the river, it was the brink of spring and the snow was gently melting when he had found it the stream had started to move gently and the snow had been swept away leaving the cool fresh water, which he had enjoyed drinking

deerssert's fondest memory:
The day he took his first step into the forest. The Scent, the Scenery,
the way it made his little hooves tingle, and made him hop around with joy.
Ever since that day he always wants to hang around the forest just to enjoy the
excitement.
