Hmm well.. My favorite Hatter is Andrew Lee Potts from the Syfy version... but... given the clues I'm inclined to think it's the Depp version...? Or maybe even your own person vision of what the Hatter should look like! That would be awesome!

Perhaps it has a full body skeleton design? With the skull mask. As for the checkers, maybe he has a blue & red checker pattern on his tail, or perhaps his mane? I bet he has Bioluminescent markings ;)
