Meaning sweet in Swahili

By wilkfiadh on Flight Rising

From the moment she was born, Tamu has always been a very curious and vocal bean. She loves to talk and sing, loud, proud, and out of tune. If someone gives her the chance she'll keep up a conversation until she falls asleep no matter what the topic is. Some creatures find this an intriguing trait and are happy to oblige her for a few hours, but many others just can't wait to get out of earshot. Tamu can't really tell the difference so she finds the strange reasons people give her as they run away very interesting. Unfortunately for those poor souls, if Tamu sees them again they're surely in for a happy interrogation about the nature of their "exploding stove", if they found their "super mega important lost tiny rock", what happened to the "ten foot tall pickle terrorizing the city", or how the "boring job interview that I'm late for" went.
Sometimes Tamu likes to be alone, but she really thrives at the heart of her jam, or any group for that matter! She's a very social bean who needs to be around others. If she's stuck alone, she swears she'll wilt away to nothing within the hour. (Even though it hasn't happened yet...yet.) She loves meeting new creatures and doesn't have any problems around strangers. In fact, they might even make her more outgoing, since she can't make new friends without finding strangers to talk to!
Whether she's telling her life story to a rock, chowing down, attempting to run up straight trees, or doing something 'important' like chores, Tamu's always got a goofy grin plastered across her face and she truly could not be any happier. She loves life and every experience she gets, even the lame ones! When she's not doing something, she's sprawled out somewhere snoring just as loudly as she talks. Her favorite places to nap are usually weird and look really uncomfortable, or even painful! Not many believe her, but she swears up and down that laying on a pile of sharp rocks really does make you sleep better than you ever have before.
Although some may find her overbearing or even aggravating at times, Tamu's really just a big sweetheart under all that loud talking. She loves making others smile and will often go out of her way to help make someone's day better, even by just a tiny bit. Its not at all uncommon for her to be found hunting for presents to give to friends or family that need a little pick-me-up.
'Playful' and 'creative' might as well be her middle names. Tamu might always be happy, but there’s a special sort of joy in her eyes when she's playing with younger kids. (She doesn't mind playing with beans her own age, but usually they sure do!) Her favorite game is tag but she also has fun playing bus, which is when she stuffs her pouch full of little ones and carries them to interesting places they can't get to on their own. Sometimes she takes the little ones out too far and gets in trouble, but she never means to, honest! She just had to show them that really cool rock or that awesome waterfall or the view from that tree. Not everyone appreciates her games, but they all know her heart is in the right place.
Even when she can't play with others, Tamu makes her own fun! She has a small hoard of trinkets, mostly composed of rocks, feathers, branches, broken flip flops, discarded teddy bears, abandoned dolls, ruined jewelry and half-eaten chew toys. Tamu's hoard means a lot to her and even though some of her treasures are falling apart, they never fail to amuse her. Sometimes the poor girl is dragged far away from her precious collection without a single toy. When this happens she usually tries to find new trinkets, but her plans are sometimes thwarted, leaving her bored and miserable. Until she spots a flicking tail, of course! No matter the time or place, Tamu can’t resist batting at - or pouncing on! - an unsuspecting tail.
Tamu may have a lot of energy, but it sure doesn't last long! After a few short games she's absolutely exhausted and needs to nap for a few hours. Communal nap piles are her favorite after a round of play, but sometimes she has to sneak off to one of her weird nap spots. When she isn't playing or napping, she’s quite the lazy bean. She'll roll short distances instead of walking and spend hours thinking of how to do a task with slightly less effort. She always finishes her chores, but it takes her all day and night.
